passed by this morning for a breakfast burrito and the sign on the door says they closed down

Great place for quality Mexican food at an affordable price. I’ve had multiple items on the menu and they all were good. Their Kona coffee is better then most coffe shops in the area. The cookies are good and I’m happy they just got their liquor license. Great place!

Nice people but maybe stick to breakfast. I went for dinner and no one was there. Still decided to give it a shot. It wasn’t bad but our order wasn’t what we expected for SoCal Mexican food. The nachos had cheese sprinkled on top and the tacos were inconsistent with what had ordered. Again, not bad, but maybe stick with breakfast.

Update: Gave this place another chance and I have to admit, I enjoyed a little breakfast and I found a pastry that was pretty dope. Noticed a few upgrades since I went there last… working hard on my relationship with this establishment :) Original: I live right around the corner and I want to love this place. Such a great building/vibe… But the food is bad. Mexican bakery is mediocre. Please get better. Do something because it’s not working. Not trying to be harsh, but you won’t survive long term with this kind of food.

I’m sorry to say but I will no return to this place. Nothing was right. I had order things with special requests due to dietary requests which I can understand sometimes can be a hassle but the place was empty. And all 3 orders came out WRONG!!! We even went over the order 4 times before we sat down and still it was wrong. Then I felt like we were going to be punished for not taking it the way they made it. No reason to return when there are great fish taco places all over north county!

Nice people and good service. Had the fish taco plate and it was very good. They provide plenty of good salsa and the atmosphere is relaxing. Surprised that they carried such a good beer selection.

Ordered grilled tacos. Wished there was a bit more fish. Delicious flavoring. Very authentic. Will be back to try another dish.

First time here. We will definitely be back. Awesome selection of fresh Pan Dulce(Mexican Pastries), breakfast and lunch dishes. Great for kids. Went with wife and kids Sunday morning and we all shared Ponto breakfast, a Moonlight burrito, and we each picked out our own fresh pan Dulce. Very relaxing kicking back with my coffee in one hand and Bavarian cream filled goodness in the other.

I was in the area helping a friend move and we hit Dos Palmas first. This is a small place run by a very friendly husband and wife. They have a large assortment of fresh pastries and they looked terrific. My friend loved her huge burrito and I had Chilaquiles. Everything was very fresh and these were the best Chilaquiles I have ever had! I will definitely be back with the family to try something else and let my guys sample the pastries! I am diabetic, so I can only drool. ;)

When you combine 2 of my fav things… burrito’s and pastries, done better than most places that do them by itself you have something very special. I had no idea the bakery had such an amazing assortments of pastries, fruit filled and crème filled empanadas. They have an amazing chocolate ganache layer cake for only $ 1.29 which would be $ 5 – 6 at Heavenly desserts. Honestly, their pastries are equal to Bread & Cie and better than Elizabethan desserts I’m not kidding yet the prices will shock you as they’re 1⁄3 the price. At 1st the empanada’s don’t have that glorious french presentation but OMG, trust me the fruit filling whether you choose apple, pumpkin, or Bavarian crème will astound your taste buds. All the danishes are only .79 cents. I seriously don’t know how they can do that on PCH but I can stock up a box full of desserts that would be $ 30 – 40 at the French bakeries.

I LOVE the chicken tinga. Just excellent. My wife also likes the mildly sweet deserts. I had the .99 fish tacos on taco tuesday, pretty good too. I almost wrote Dos Palmas off after going there twice only to have it locked up, closed even though the website said they were open until 6pm. Update your website or you’ll upset other possible customers. See you on taco Tue, or when I crave tinga.

I was craving a burrito and I finally caught them when they were open, hooray!(It seems like they keep odd hours because I’ve tried to go at least 3 times before and always got the closed sign). Anyway, I can’t complain. The Leucadia burrito really hit the spot: Soft fresh tortilla wrapped around beans, rice, and fresh sliced avocado. Top it off with their delicious spicy salsa and it was a winner! I love that they offer some healthier options than just a regular taco shop, but still manage to provide real Mexican food at a great price. We’re going to try the breakfast burritos next!

Besides the fact that Dos Palmas is conveniently located walking distance from my house, there are so many other reasons why this bakery gets 5 stars; convenience alone wouldn’t mandate my or my boyfriends multiple visits per week. Let me start by saying that the owner Mario is quite possibly one of the kindest, most generous people ever. He takes compliments graciously and is so pleasant with every client. For example, my boyfriend had expressed how much I love their salsa and, without asking, he made a special batch just so I could have a pint of it on Christmas. His staff is equally as wonderful as him. Now onto the food. The homemade Mexican pastries are out of this world! If I had to make a last meal request, a pumpkin empanada would most definitely be on the bill… as well as more salsa. Everything is home made, as one would expect. Mario plays around with different flavors which keeps each dining experience unique and exciting. The ultimate win is the north shore tacos with cheese paired with DP’s chile de arbol salsa. Theres also a coconut covered cake filled with strawberry preserve filling that will throw any person into the best sugar coma of their life; Dos Palmas pastries almost instill a bit of childlike nostalgia. The prices are incredibly inexpensive so it’s easy to get your fill. I would happily write a dissertation on why this place is amazing… so go!

I love how Dos Palmas named their burritos after each beach in Encinitas… moonlight, grandview, stone steps… very original. Fish tacos are tasty and they are their signature item. My favorite pastry: Surfers Breakfast served warm. Good place to stop by with friendly service and inviting atmosphere.

Wow, wow and more wow! The selection of bakery items is super impressive! You can just see the love that was put into making the breads, sweet rolls, and the Mexican baked goods. In addition, to the super selection of fresh baked good they also serve breakfast and lunch. I have had both and was pleased. The prices are reasonable. This place is super cool and I welcome them to my hood!

I came by around 11am and sampled a bunch of baked goods. I started with a concha. The bread was fresh and the sugar on top was good. This concha was a bit better than average. Next I had an apple filled pastry. The apple filling was pretty good as was the pastry part. The rice krispy treat was not to my liking. They didn’t use that much marshmallow so it wasn’t was sweet as I like. I like them gooey and pretty sweet. Last up was a cookie with raspberry center. The cookie was a little lacking in flavor. The center was tart. I much prefer the cookies at VG Donuts. I’d give this place an extra half star for the nice modern décor and the nice looking building.

Good breakfast and sweets!!! We were expecting a line but quickly realized it was Memorial Day weekend and had the place almost all to ourselves. We ordered Huevos Rancheros and Hola Burrito. They were both cooked beautifully, however lacked flavor. We were both looking for that something special. It is disappointing to review that the savory breakfast is a bit bland. The sweets are very flavorful and would be back for more of the banana bread!

As a note, this place opened the weekend before this review, so they were still getting things together as far as getting employees acclimated with operations. Besides that, this place is awesome. The venue itself has a great vibe and is a great place to hang out eat and chat. Its clean, trendy, and comfortable. Along with all the mexican bakery treats, they serve hot breakfast and lunch also. I grabbed a breakfast burrito(«Hola burrito») and it was way better than a taco shop burrito. The eggs were cooked perfect(not burned at all), and had good strips of thick cut bacon, and tasty potatoes. I also picked up a few different pan dulces to share at work. They are some of the best items from a bakery I have had, and they have a huuuge selection. This is another great addition to Leucadia, i have a feeling this place is going to do very well. I will be recommending this to friends.

I’ve never been a big fan of Mexican style baked goods HOWEVER fresh baked goods… whether they’re french, english, mexican or whatever … taste great!!! As a neighbor I can tell you they spent an eternity building this unique building from an empty parking lot. In the process, they meticulously saved two giant palm trees(thus the name). They deserve some points for that. Starbucks probably would’ve flattened those palm trees for an extra SUV parking spot. Anyway, with this fancy building I thought for sure they’d be another $ 3/cup coffee spot selling $ 4-$ 6 pastries. You’d have to sell it for that much after spending all that money on the building. I was wrong. They are selling freshly baked Mexican style pastries for under $ 1? Brilliant! I love it and will be back often. What a slick building and unique bakery. Congrats! May you live long and prosper.
