I have to preface my review by saying I would give a 5 for food and a 1 for service. Our party of 7 were seated in the bar and our server was horrible. She wouldn’t get each of our drink orders, instead she brought drinks one by one and would disappear before you could place an order. Two guys in our party ordered beers twice and 25 minutes later had to go to the bar to get a beer. On other visits the service was great and the servers actually took the time to go over the sauces if there were people that were new to Chuy’s. Based upon the lack of service, we knew to double check our checks. Of course two checks were wrong and it took our server over 30 minutes to correct. It was a horrible experience and ruined my friend’s 50th Birthday celebration. Needless to say, we won’t be back to Chuy’s.

This place is as good as having Mexican food in the middle of Texas. Is it authentic, no. But it is sure good. Service is always good and the food never disappoints. A MUSTTRY while in the area! Happy eating!!!

My future mother-in-law loves Chuy’s, so I have come here several times since my last review and had great experiences. I think the visit I had on my last review might have been a fluke. I love the creamy jalapeño dip and the thin and crispy chips that they constantly refill! The servers are also quick to refill drinks. I have enjoyed several of their Tex-Mex entrees. I gave the quesadillas another shot and loved them the 2nd time around! The beans and rice are a great quality too.

I should hate this place. It is the exact type of restaurant I despise: one filled with ridiculous, over-the-top décor meant to amuse and distract families and crowds with its carnival-like atmosphere. A restaurant where parents bring their 50 screaming children and just let them scream. A chain that focuses on theme first and food never. But wait, what is this? Tortillas being made fresh right in front of me? Light as air tortilla chips with chunky guac? Delicious food? What??? Yeah, as soon as I had my first bite of the macho burrito filled with house-roasted pork and rolled in one of those fresh tortillas, I forgot about everything else. Seriously, this burrito could have been served in a high-end Mexican restaurant(yes, those exist, just not in KY) and I wouldn’t have batted an eye. And because we were in a cartoon of a restaurant, I ordered a frozen blackberry margarita and it was good too. It even had some booze in it. I am going to have to come back here. I won’t want to, but next time I get a craving for some Tex-Mex, I will.

I had my first dance with Chuy’s last weekend. It was short and sweet. Or should I say, spicy? I was surprised to walk in and find some kind of casual diner atmosphere, which was not what I had expected. Thankfully, a casual atmosphere is more comfortable for me, so I liked it. We were promptly handed menus and chips and salsa(pico de gallo). Our table requested some creamy jalapeño sauce with the chips too, and the waitress brought us several small dip bowls of it. Both sauces were sooooo good! And the chips were delicious. YUM. Some of the best I’ve ever had. For dinner, I ordered the veggie enchilada(topped with the mildest sauce) with a side of Mexican rice and churro beans(I don’t like refried beans). Apparently, I don’t like churro beans either. Oh well. As for everything else on my plate, I devoured it as if I hadn’t eaten in days. Soooo good. The veggie enchilada WAS delicious, however; the vegetables were kind of large and chunky… not chopped up very small. For me, that was kind of odd. Regardless, my stomach was still happy. The Mexican rice, however, was too spicy and kind of threw me off. It was still good, but not as mild as I expected. When I finished my meal, I was fanning my mouth and taking large sips of water. So spicy(for being of the milder flavors! But so good! Prices are reasonable, and based on my experience plus the people at our table, food here can be hit or miss. I’d come here again but opt out of the rice and beans and just get some tacos or something. Or maybe just only chips and salsa. I can survive on chips and salsa. Yep.

Food is pretty tasty, but sometimes ordering can be a little complicated and a few items on their menu are portioned with a very small amount of beef(although on occasion you’ll get a lot) If you know what to order and you have no special instructions then you’ll love this place. I usually get to go and Carol is an awesome to go lady!

My fave place for Mexican, all because of the Creamy Jalapeño Ranch DIp and the Tortilla Chips. We almost always share the Nachos, because they are just that darn good! They make a mean Margerita or Dacquiri, and the service is always great.

First time visiting. Great drinks and ordered the Chille Rellos(sp?), a great dish will order again. Customer service was great, was able to be seated in the bar area to watch the beginning of the Kentucky vs Indiana bball game. Will come again.

This was my third time eating at Chuy’s. I ordered an enchilada and chile relleno combination platter. I love that you can choose from any enchilada and chile relleno they have on there menu as part of this combo platter(they don’t restrict you to choosing only from their basic chicken, beef, and cheese options). I chose the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom for my enchilada and the cheese and shrimp chile relleno. Charro beans and green chili lime rice were excellent accompaniments to this combo platter! First of all let me say you can not go wrong with the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. The Boom Boom Sauce is amazing. That being said I’m a bit of a chile relleno snob. I typically order chile rellenos at every Mexican restaurant I frequent. Chuy’s version of a chile relleno was good but not awesome, but then again I prefer a more«authentic» version of this dish. I appreciate that Chuy’s offers a shrimp and cheese chile relleno, something that I’ve never seen on any other Mexican restaurant menu. The con for me on this Chuy’s version was the panko-like breading on the chile. I like a less gourmet and less Americanized version of this dish. Chuy’s complimentary tortilla chips are light and crispy and served with a tasty jalapeño cream dipping sauce and a fresh tasting tomato salsa! I will definitely continue to eat at Chuy’s when I’m in the mood for TexMex!

Great dinner tonight to celebrate a family birthday. Seated quickly; good service; reasonable prices & pleasant atmosphere. We had soft tacos, enchiladas, crispy tacos, queso, and chicken fingers for the little one. Everything was terrific.

We came here for a holiday get-together, and had a blast! There was a bit of a wait for a group our size, but it was happy hour, so we just passed the time by enjoying the FREE nacho bar(beans, queso, salsa, etc.) and cheap frozen margaritas(I’d recommend the strawberry and the peach — lime isn’t anything to write home about.) When we were seated, our server was great. Having gorged on the aforementioned nachos(and the chips with salsa AND jalapeño dip that came free at the table) my husband and I just split an entrée. We went for the boom boom enchiladas, and they were great. The green chile rice was fresh, delicious, and did not appear to be from a box(score!) My only complaint is how stuffed I was when I left. Guess I’ll just have to go back so I can practice practicing restraint! ;-)

I came here a few weeks ago with my friends to celebrate a great friends birthday. I ordered a drink and some of the group ordered food while others ordered only drinks as well. We were well taken cared of and our food came very quickly. The server took great care of us, and didn’t rush us as we sat around towards their closing time. Over all it was a great experience and everyone was happy with their food and drinks. We will surely be returning here in the near future. Great Mexican food!

This is one of my favorite paces in town. We live to stop in for a drink and appetizers before going to a movie. We love the nachos. Friendly and speedy service.

Why 5 stars, you inquire? Simply put, nacho bar and margaritas! But the other food is pretty good, too. === === === === Yep, you read that correctly… there’s a nacho bar that’s free Monday-Friday from 4p-7p. Chips, queso, taco meat, refried beans, and salsa! Include the fact that you can get the creamy jalapeño dip, and you’re set. Well, almost. Don’t forget the drink specials. There’s a Mexican Martini which is really a margarita, but that’s semantics. The amazing part of this is that it’s a green chile-infused El Jimador silver tequila and Cointreau, served with jalapeño-stuffed olives. YUM! It comes in a little shaker and you’ll get a couple of glasses out of it. There’s also some fruity frozen ones to try, including a blood orange flavor which is delicious. Nachos and alcohol aside, the menu offers tacos, burritos, fajitas and more. The nice thing about Chuy’s is that the ingredients are all fresh, the tortillas are hand-rolled, and there are a ton of different sauces to try. Another thing to note is that even though Chuy’s is a chain, each restaurant is unique in the fact that no two are decorated the same. The staff here has always been pretty awesome, too — very nice, attentive, and helpful if you have questions or want to try something. Enjoy!

We’ve been here several times and honestly, I’m surprised I haven’t reviewed them yet. So, here goes. We went on Sunday afternoon and were seated promptly. Staff was very friendly. We placed our orders — I chose the Combo Fajitas(one of my favorite choices here), my wife ordered the pork tacos(one of the weekend specials). Our orders were out in record time… We only managed to eat ½ basket of chips! And with the creamy jalapeño dip flowing, that’s really saying something. Her pork tacos features slow-roasted juicy shredded pork dressed traditionally with onions and cilantro, wrapped in warm freshly-made tortillas. Beans and rice on the side looked good, but the tacos were so filling she wasn’t able to even touch them. My combo fajitas were huge and delicious. I particularly enjoy the side-bowl of rice and beans along with the cauldron of toppings(pico, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, etc). The tortillas of course were also fresh and still warm. Meats were juicy and piping hot. Will we be back? Well, yeah.

This was a pretty interesting Mexican restaurant if would say so myself. Some of the pictures on the wall will probably scare your kids, a heads up on that. Service here was really good, the guy gave suggestions on food, kept up with their drinks and was polite the entire time. I am getting the sampler dish just to take a bite of each dish and see what it taste like. I will say it was pretty good. I will say I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have cactus on their menu. But other than that they did have a lot of traditional Mexican dishes.

Very tasty, let’s do it again! My first time eating at Chuy’s and I enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Enchilada. The menu says it’s ‘hand-pulled chicken’ but mine had large pieces of chicken breast. The chicken was tender and juicy. The Boom-Boom sauce is good, Chuy’s says its heat level is 2 peppers(3 is max). I thought it was closer to 1 pepper but I have a soft-spot in my heart for New Mexican green chiles. The 2 sides, green chile rice & refried beans were tasty, too. It was a takeout order, nicely packed in a 3-section aluminum container that kept the sides from getting wild with each-other and the enchiladas. The order came with a huge bag of fresh chips, and containers of salsa and a white sauce that I assume is their white jalapeño sauce(it was great). The only problem was I wanted to call in advance for curb pickup but nobody answered the phone. I tried twice and both times the auto attendant picked up instantly but there was no answer on the extension for takeout orders. So I drove over, the bartenders took my order and were very hospitable while I waited. Try Chuy’s if you like Tex-Mex style food, it’s not typical chain dining and you’ll enjoy your meal.

I’m not usually a fan of restaurants like Chuy’s…it feels like a chain that puts more emphasis on kitschy décor and cheap booze than producing edible food. Chuy’s is definitely NOT this kind of place! We have eaten here several times — I wanted to make sure my first few visits were not anomalies — and we have eaten delicious food, every single time. As a fairly recent transplant to Lexington, I have been less than dazzled by the Mexican food options in our town. The food at Chuy’s is Tex-Mex, and good quality Tex-Mex at that. If you are undecided about what to order after scanning the menu, it pays to have a chat with your server… they are very knowledgable about the food, and have always taken time to find out what kinds of things we like and have made some excellent recommendations. We have ordered the beef fajitas, chicka-chicka boom-boom enchiladas, Elvis’ green chili fried chicken, and special nachos with beef, among many other things. They make several different sauces… we have asked for a sampling of all of them so we could try them out and our server was happy to oblige. They make tortilla chips exactly the way I love them: light, thin, and crispy. Chuy’s is not expensive, not loud, and the interesting artwork has provided material for lots of fun discussions while we were waiting for our food. This is a great place to stop before a movie at Cinemark, a great place to take kids, and a great place to enjoy some delicious Tex-Mex food.

I only come here for a couple reasons. 1. Happy hour with free nacho bar. The selection of frozen margaritas is pretty good and the happy hour prices are decent. Plus, there is the free nacho bar which includes: chips, salsa, cheese dip, bean dip, and meat. 2. Tres leches cake. While not the most authentic I’ve ever had, it is still really tasty. 3. Creamy jalapeño dip. This stuff is like a their version of ranch, but again tastier. They will bring it out with your chips and salsa if you ask. I’m not in love with the other menu items, it seems like generic tex-mex.
