Pretty bad experience… My wife and I came here for dinner and the environment was nice… But that’s where the good part ends. The waitress was very distracted and took 20 – 25 minutes to finally bring us a refill of water(this place btw was almost empty except for us as well). We were brought the wrong meals TWICE… Only to wait another 20 min for our final correct meal. Mine came out cold(steak), my wife’s hot brown was burned on the bottom and frozen on the top… Frozen… Which means they’re using frozen food and heating it up… Unacceptable in a restaurant where the average price is 18 – 25 per meal. The only reason the place even gets 1 star is the manager did agree to pay for the meal on the house. We will never return.

Over the past 10 years we have eaten New Years Eve dinner at Kilbern’s at least five times. It used to be amazing with crab legs, peel and eat shrimp, liqueur filled chocolates, and crème brûlée. The list of offerings has gotten smaller and smaller over the years. This year the $ 34.99 menu included a salad bar, prime rib, chicken cordon bleu, roasted pork chops with apples, baked potatoes, mixed vegetables, asparagus, rolls, chocolate ganache cake, Black Forest cake, peach pie, and pumpkin pie. The salad bar was excellent with food ingredients you might not find elsewhere(although they DO need to label their salad dressings). The prime rib was also very good and carved to order. Baked potatoes weren’t hot enough(so your butter couldn’t melt). Their other dinner selections were fine but the buffet could really use a seafood addition again for the price. Lastly, the desserts were bland and uninspired. How about a key lime pie with fresh berries, a refined pudding choice such as mango rice pudding, or a crème brûlée option? We love the atmosphere of the Campbell House, and WANT this New Year’s eve option to be amazing but the menu needs some improvements. Despite the mixed review I would encourage you to try Kilbern’s for lunch, dinner or that special occasion! Hopefully Kilbern’s will consider our suggestions for improvement.

I was staying at this hotel as a guest while working in town. It was Friday morning. I went to get breakfast. There was line of 3 ppl waiting to be seated but no one to sit us. They seemed already anxious. Me & my business partner just walked passed the desk to the dining room and the waitress waived us to sit wherever there’s room. It wasn’t packed, but it was busy. After we sat down I noticed that there were only 2 waitresses running between the kitchen and the dinning room like chickens without heads. Understaffed??? Finally I waved one for a menu. Then had to wave her again to actually order something. I was in a hurry to make it to work on time. She notified me there will be wait time. She couldn’t define how long… I kept her with me before she ran off to put the order in hoping the earlier I do it the earlier it will come out. 20+ min later she still didn’t know when it would be ready do I walked up to see the buffet but there was almost nothing for Vegetarians & Gluten Free eaters. And it didn’t look appetizing anyways… Finally the dish came out(5nin til I had to leave to work) and it was technically inedible. The scramble tasted sour and the hash was so heavily peppered that you couldn’t actually taste it. Just altogether a disaster meal. The waitress was kind enough to take our comment on the food issues and let us go without paying. Thank god! We each had a bite to taste the food and moved our plates away from us.

A restaurant inside of the Campbell house. I initially came here due to purchasing their groupon. Came here for brunch on Sunday with a friend. To our surprise they had a fancy setup for a buffet. And were we glad we came here. Upon arriving, I’ve always mistaken this location for a nursing home, maybe because there’s one across the street and I confuse the two?.. The food was very delicious, they had everything here from fresh veggies to a salad bar, to a variety of fruits. Different types of meats with a chef that will slice your roast beef and dip it in Au jus sauce if you prefer. Multiple cake selections from pecan pie to chocolate cake. This has to be one of the best all American food buffets I’ve ever been that had a fancy vibe to it and was nothing short but delicious in every means. If you’d like to get your money’s worth and eat at a higher quality buffet, this is the place to go! The cost is $ 21.98 per person, but the selection of food can’t beat that price at any other buffets out there.

First visit, precipitated by Unilocal reviews and location. We had lunch today; unfortunately, lunch buffet is Monday-Friday only. Excellent soup(onion & today’s Chicken Noodle), adequate salad bar, mediocre desserts. Excellent service & very reasonable prices will bring us back to try the lunch buffet & the Sunday brunch.

Down home comfort food ideal for sharing, from fried green tomato appetizers to fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. Simple dishes well executed.

There are very few lunch spots in Lexington that I enjoy as much as Kilberns. No distracting TV’s, friendly staff & great food. Dropped in today & enjoyed glazed ham, smoked turkey, & everything you would expect for Thanksgiving week. The dessert bar, just go see for yourself, it is phenomenal! Awesome service & a price that’s hard to beat!

I like their lunch buffet. It’s a little too pricy to go often, though,-at $ 12 or so. But, the food is probably worth it if you can eat a lot. And the desserts are good. My family ate thanksgiving dinner here at their thanksgiving buffet which was great. A good value for all that was included. I ate so much that I was miserable the rest of the day!

I’ve been here for two weeks and have had the Rueben Sandwich at least six times. This ranks as one of the BEST Reuben’s I’ve had. A must try!

This is the restaurant inside of the The Campbell House. I don’t know how to put this politely… I’m usually the youngest one there. The average age of the«crowd» is probably about 70, but I’ve only went during lunch on the weekdays. It is a buffet/cafeteria style set up which usually has the same things: prime beef, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and a few veggies options. The dessert table is awesome. I don’t even want to start naming those options, go see for yourself. The only reason I rate it 3 is because I once was served under cooked chicken and the prime beef isn’t consistent. sometimes too rare and other times it is over cooked. I go here about once a month for a lunch meeting, which I should mention is in a room of it’s own. If you’re looking for somewhere to hold a business/lunch meeting, you may want to look into this place… I’m not sure if you have to rent the room or not but it is a pretty nice setting.
