Came in to get a beer next door and was pleasantly surprised by the dinner I ended up with at Smithtown. The portion was perfect for the local Kentucky burger and fries I got, and delicious as well. Service was quick even though it was crowded on a basketball game night.

Honestly the best fish I have ever eaten. I am not a huge seafood eater, but put buffalo sauce on anything and I’ll try it. Well in this case I was very glad I did. Their buffalo catfish sandwhich was absolutely amazing. It perfectly balanced the spicy and sweet and paired really well with the beer from their neighbor and partner West Sixth Brewing.

Had dinner here on Saturday night while we were at West 6th. I had a hamburger and my husband had the fish and chips. The hamburger was very, very good and I would definitely get it again. My husband said he liked his fish and chips and it was a good size for the money. I tried to order the bay scallop taco, but they were out of scallops. I tried to get the bourbon mustard for my burger, but they were out of that as well. The fries were ok, but a little overcooked, neither of us finished our fries because of that.

Sea scallop ceviche tostadas are amazing and the hush puppies are the best I have had. Highly recommend. Dining is in the west 6th brewery. Would not bring my kids for this one. Great date spot though.

The seafood here was so fresh. Everyone raved about their food, another win thanks to Unilocal(I am the dinner heroine…), and thanks to the awesome folks at smithtown. I loved the daily special Delaware bay oysters, yum. We adored the daily special scallops(blackened) and I was lucky enough to get a bite of the fish and chips, the cod was melt in your mouth delicious. I loved the emphasis on sustainable agriculture, we will definitely be back! The beer coleslaw was light and fresh, a unique choice of sauces for your fish(harissa mayo) and Weisenberger Mill hushpuppies were perfectly light and not too greasy, hand cut fries … perfection. Order at the counter and make your way to the brewery tables in the adjacent rooms next door where your meal will be delivered. Perfect screens and unique seats for the UK game tonight. Brewery even has kombucha on tap, you had me at hello…

Very unpredictable, and they generally don’t listen to customer special requests. I will not dine there again. It is too bad there is no competition at the location, otherwise they may actually try to improve, despite even having the freshest of ingredients.

$ 10.60 +2 dollars tip later I’m looking at this plate of crab mac & cheese and wondering why I even stopped here. I’ve been here before but never during the lunch hour this presentation has left me disappointed.

While in Kentucky this fall, I’ve made Smithtown Seafood a fairly regular lunch stop in part because of a group of artists who meet here for lunch most weeks. But Smithtown has more than good conversation and West Sixth Brewery to make you want to stop here. The sandwiches(fish varieties and burgers) are tasty. The boudin balls are killer. Chef Ouita Michel has knocked it out of the park again. Be careful where you park, though. On my first visit there this fall, I cam out to discover someone had stolen my battery. But those boudin balls!

Best owners in town. Try windy corner market as well. Great food and great service done by people who really care. All the seafood is really good even in the middle of Kentucky. I know it’s weird but it’s true. Burgers are great and I haven’t eaten anything there that was the least bit disappointing. Try anything with the«Harrisa» Mayo? I think that’s how you say it.

Some of the best cod fish & chips I’ve had. But I can never finish the platter. A single piece of fish is enormous. But on this last visit, I tried the Beef Well-ington burger. OMG, so good! I did opt to have it on a regular bun instead of the croissant. The thought of a burger on a croissant seemed a little too greasy, even for me. But the regular bun was great and this was one of the best burgers I’ve had. And I love they give a non seafood option like burgers because my husband doesn’t do seafood and he does love the burgers. I do wish they’d put the condiments on the burger or even on the side. It seems we always have to ask for mayo or mustard whenever they bring the burger… I always say I’m going to ask when we order but then I always forget. And we tried the Porter beer cheese. Ummm, did not care for it at all. It didn’t taste like beer or cheese. I even went so far as to check the menu to see if they served hummus because that’s what it tasted more like. Salty & Peppery but that’s about it. Sorry, huge miss on the beer cheese. The beer cheese they put on the burgers at Windy Corner is way better. But that won’t keep me from coming back for that wellington burger or the fish & chips.

Holy bajeezus! Catfish, cheese grits and greens are deeeelicious. Even better combine it with beer from West 6th and you have the perfect evening and just what I wanted visiting my home state from Denver.

If you’re reading this review it probably means you haven’t been here yet. Why not? I can’t think of many other restaurants I’ve been to can compete when it comes to fish. My favorite is the fish and chips, it’s beer battered with west 6th ipa beer and delicious. Maybe a little more crispy than what I’m used to, but that makes it just that much better. Regrettably I haven’t had the tilapia they raise in the back. I have gone with other people who have ordered the tilapia and they refused to share, so that says something. The best part is they share the location with a brewery. Go check it out, they won’t disappoint.

The shrimp and grits were SO good! They came with a side of greens to give you the illusion that you might be eating something healthy. I also ordered a side of the barley salad to try it out. It was tasty, but I probably won’t get it again. My husband got the grilled catfish on a bed of salad(yes, he is way more disciplined than I am) and he enjoyed that as well. I was surprised to see so many vegan options available here. If that is your thing(or you are vegan and trying to appease a bunch of people who want seafood), you can do okay here. And at 2:30 pm on a Sunday, the place was pretty empty. I will definitely be back!

Stopped by the West Sixth scene and had a late lunch at Smithtown Seafood. We started with the Bay Scallop Taco. The tortilla was too small, the scallops weren’t seared, and the taco was dry and bland with a scant amount of other ingredients. I would NOT order this item again. In contrast, the Buffalo Catfish sandwich was the best fish sandwich I’ve ever eaten! Loved the unique combination of catfish, buffalo sauce, blue cheese slaw, and pickles. Magnifique!

This could be a dangerous place! Lots of tasty seafood and flavors going on, with a nice selection of brew! Parking is on the street so go early and enjoy the stout!

I had a friend in town and decided it was time to try the fish I had been hearing about. I had the Tilapia and it was a greasy mess, just awful and very messy to each because the fish is served whole. I would suggest to them that filets would be a better choice. We also had the fried green tomatoes that were also heavy with grease and had to much heavy coating. On the other hand the catfish was good and not greasy at all.

I was very impressed with this place. Normally, when a place has tons of hype, I find a way to bring them down a notch, but I could not find a major flaw here. The food was amazing. I had to get the classic Fish and Chips. I went to school in Maine for 3 years, but this competes with all he Fish and Chips and I had there by the Atlantic Ocean. The fish was fried so well(caution: don’t come if trying to be healthy… or order something different at least). The fries were simply amazing, but the real star were the hushpuppies. I worked at Long John Silvers for a year… I used to be so sick of Hushpuppies, but this place brought back the love for these things. They were solid, thick, and tasty. The wait time wasn’t too bad, and the price is what you would expect for seafood. I paid about $ 14-$ 16 after tip, so its not too bad. The fact that this place is attached to West Sixth is just fantastic. Come here, drink beer, eat fish, and be happy.

Holy schmoly. The absolute hands down best shrimp and grits ever. I stuffed my face until I couldn’t fit in another bite. Ridiculous. Paired with a West 6th Cola(or beer, if you prefer) from next door – it can’t be beat. I wish my pants were bigger… But worth every second of self inflicted discomfort. Go. Eat. Enjoy. Oh, and eat it there. You’re welcome.

Positives: I’ve had several items from here but the stand outs are the deep fried buffalo dog and most importantly– the fish & chips. The fish is so fresh and the batter is perfect, it’s not too overpowering so you are still able to enjoy the natural clean fish flavor. Mayo based coleslaw is sooo creamy! The tarter sauce I believe is made in house and my husband swears by it. It’s not too pickle-y. Service was friendly enough, gave a few suggestions even though it was right at 9pm and you could tell the staff was wore out and ready to head home. Negatives: Fries are a bit soggy, coleslaw could use a dash of salt. The Thai Nam sauce isn’t as spicy as I would have liked and is very thin so it does really stick on much. The Vibe: Overall I haven’t had enough to say everything is awesome or that it’s the best fish place but I will say that they source locally which I love, from ice cream and cookies to fish and produce. They are connected to West Sixth Brewery which is awesome, and they use some of the beer in their food. Food is fresh and flavorful but not too crazy. Really enjoyed.
