They have a lot of necessities hence the 3 star rating but the quality and cost of the produce was shockingly bad. Onions $ 4 a lb really? I don’t think I’ve ever seen onions that bad for sale before either. Still, when you’re in a pinch for condiments, salad dressing, etc… it’s there. Found most of the stuff on my list and bent over and took it like a man!

Awesome Kmart! OK… so I live on Oahu and visit the other islands and play tourist. I didn’t really want to go to an expensive tourist trap so I decided to stop by Kmart to get a few things from Kauai for the family back in the mainland. OMG! They have the ultimate tourist selection at great prices. Seriously… everything from T-​shirts, to mac nuts, coffee, magnets, sarong’s, seeds, etc… etc…etc.
Plus, the store is super clean and has everything you could possibly need for your stay on Kauai.

I was on the hunt for a swimsuit for my daughter while on vacation in Kauai and couldn’t find anything at ROSS down the street. I didn’t think we’d find anything at Kmart but thankfully I was pleasantly surprised by what I found!
THIS PLACE IS A GHOST TOWN: It’s was eerily empty as we walked into the store and I actually wondered if it was actually open. Well it was, but for whatever reason there were no customers.
DEALS GALORE: I guess the best thing about an empty store is that you get to scoop up really sweet deals! I found racks upon racks of adorable swimsuits for my little ones that were only $ 4.99. I had only come in to get a single swimsuit but ended up purchasing eight sets for my two daughters.
AS ARNOLD SCHWARTZNEGGER SAYS: I’ll be back! I still think about how great this Kmart was because it was clean, organized and stacked with great deals. Hopefully they’ll still be in business next time I go back to Kauai!

Not usually a fan of K-​mart but it was close to where the ship docked with a free shuttle. Needed some personal items and everything you could want/​need is right here, including souvenirs. Great place to get water & snacks too which are sky high on board the ship, store is nice and clean, beware that they don’t give bags here for your purchase so you will have to buy one of their reusable bags or if you came in with a back pack you can stuff your things in it.

I can’t believe this is a Kmart! They practically have their own ABC market in store. The selection is great and prices even better. This was an unplanned stop due to a flight delay but worth it. All souvenir shoppers need to drop by. And if you’re just starting your vacation, here is where you can stock up.

The only Kmart on the island. There are only a few differences between here and the only Wal-​Mart on the island. Sometimes they stock more frequently than Wal-​Mart. I like coming here. But the only down fall is they don’t stock Frozen.
Theres a little Ceasers inside so you can eat and shop or vise versa. Usually better to eat first and then walk off your meal.

This is the only KMart on the whole entire island, and if it’s this place vs. Wal Mart, we would much rather go to KMart.
We actually came in to buy Spam and alcohol, and found that it was cheaper than Foodland (the grocery store near where we were staying). So we bought a lot of Spam, various snacks, and then found the nice little souvenir section where we bought coffee, chocolate, and nuts to bring home.
If you sign up for a Kmart card you can get some more discounts… I think? It’s free and it isn’t a credit card, and you’ll rack up points which you can use to redeem for prizes. Cash register area is slow though… some of the sales associates seemed pretty sluggish and kept typing the wrong number for our zip code and phone number.

great spot to stop in and pick up souvenir. as soon as you walk in to the left hand side they have all the items for the tourists. Originally stopped by to grab some water for the cruise ship but picked up some items for the kids at home and also found a great malasada place right outside this location.

I don’t know how this place is still in business. Well, I guess the tourist section keeps it alive. They drive them in droves from the cruise ships and hotels I think. I usually go to WalMart, but came here for some reason the other day. I’m not familiar with the layout, so I walked around the whole store looking for cards and it was right in the front. Ack. They do have some random veggies and fruits for sale that made me smile. Otherwise, I hardly come here.?

If you’re a tourist and want cheap goodies to take back to the mainland, this is the place to shop at!
I ended up getting everything for my co-​workers to families all the goods! I got the following:
1. Hawaiian Host Caramacs on sale for the 6 pack for $ 18
2. Hurricane popcorn *my friends go nuts for this stuff*
3. Kona coffee
4. Macadamia nut treats
5. Waialua pineapple sodas (for while we were here in Kauai)
If I can give you a tip on gift shopping, as much as you want to buy the stuff at the ABC store out of convenience just don’t do it as most of the items are overly priced. GO TO Kmart, it’s also disappearing on the mainland so check it out before they all go!

We got our water for the trip here. Right out of Lihue Airport. Nice view around there.
Long lines for cashiers. They seem to like to keep customers in store.

I gotta say: I love this Kmart, especially when they are becomming extinct on the mainland.
Pros: They have fruit, veggies, a lot of canned selections, baking goods and they are usually less crowded than Wall-​fart. Great clothing selection for children. Easy access to the mall from the side back door (where the baby items are).
Cons: They take a long time to check you out at the register. There are usually long lines. Prices are slightly higher than Walmart on 70% of things. I still love to go there over Walmart because of selection and less crowded.
TIP/​FYI: both Kmart and Walmart are slightly more crowded than usual on Thursdays and Fridays because of Cruise ships docking at the Nawiliwili Harbor.
If there are huge lines and you only have a few items… customer service desk can ring you up. (located where the money orders are)

Conveniently located next to Costco and Kukui Grove Mall. Great place to pick up a buttload of souvenirs at a great price. Forget the overpriced stuff at the ABC stores or your hotel’s gift shop. Hell, I don’t think Ive even seen more than one ABC store on this island to begin with…
They’re always playing some teeny bopper/​top 40 hit on the tv screen in the juniors clothing section. I caught myself stopping to watch the latest One Direction music video.

When you get to Lihue and heading to the hotel, this is the place to stock up on the sunscreen, beer, water, cooler and stuff you need for the week. It’s expensive if you wait and get these sundries later at the hotel or market.

Grand Haven Charter Township, MI
If you are going to buy jewelry on Kauai, this is the place to get the most bang for your buck. No lie, we were told this by a local and darned if she wasn’t right! Same stuff as all the tourist traps, but cheaper prices, some on sale.
Oh, and great inexpensive souvenirs & 3 isles of Macadamias! mmm

East Bay
Some of you may feel K-​Mart is too low brow for you. K-​Mart was my Macy’s growing up in SoCal. The K-​Mart in Lihue will surprise you skeptics.
I only concentrated on the souvenir section which was filled with loads of Hawaiian food products from individual sized bags and pouches to industrial sized units of macadamia nuts in all varieties, cookies, teas, coffee, etc. Plus tons of flower hair ornaments and various Made in China tchotchkes.
The store is really clean and well organized.
If you are looking for the famous malasadas – the stand (not affiliated with K-​Mart) is located to the left of the entrance. Didn’t get to try any since their operating hours are limited (open too late; close too soon)

I’m not a Kmart person when I’m home, but here in Kauai, these were awesome deals:
* Water
* Water shoes ($ 10) — lifesavers on the Wailua River kayak/​hike trips, and in the rocky ocean
* Macadamia nuts — unsalted, honey roasted, Kona coffee glazed, Maui onion, chocolate covered
* Kauai tchochkes to bring home as gifts — even cheaper than the ABC stores
* Slingshot and marbles, for hunting the wild chickens
* BBQ grills, for grilling up said chickens
* Cheap snorkel gear, returnable if washed, dried, and repackaged carefully
Kmart just might be my vacation go-​to from now on!
