Granite City Food & Brewery

I love the food at brew at this place. Always a good spot to gather with friends and eat, drink and be merry. I will admit we went in for a quick bite one summer night and ended up staying for a few hours trying different house craft beers.

I think it has been over a year since I was here last. We decided to drop in one evening and everything was just fantastic. The food was outstanding, I forgot how good the beers were, and out server was a hoot. We have been back 4 times in the last 2 weeks. My 10 year old daughter even wanted her birthday meal here and they gave her a birthday dessert. This is our new favorite place!!!

First time here. Was greeted at the door. Very nice. Seated immediately. Excellent. Server was at our table within two minutes. Great. Drinks came quickly. Food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Awesome. Manager came to our table twice. Exceptional. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious. Thank you Nikki and Shay. And of course the cook staff.

This place is pretty good. Imagine a high-​end Applebees with basically a similar menu at twice the price. Their waffle fries and dipping sauce (an extra charge) are excellent. You will enjoy what you get, for sure. Service was excellent. If you have a Pogo Card, you can get a free Artichoke and Spinach Dip.

After watching my sons band concert at Nebraska Wesleyan we decided to go to Granite City Food & Brewery in Lincoln. It was a Sunday evening and we arrived about 7:00. They showed us to our table almost immediately. The menu had something for everyone. I had the Rib Eye Steak & baked potato and my wife had one of their pasta meals. My son had their half rack of ribs and the girls had kids meals. I must say i enjoyed my steak it was well seasoned and grilled they way I like it. The only distraction was the service. While to food came out fast the waitress on several occasions forgot to take care of our request like a childs booster seat, ketchup etc. We had to ask her more than once. Otherwise a great meal in a comfortable setting. We will return as the food was good and everyone enjoyed it.

Slow, slow, slow. We had a reservation for a large party (20). We weren’t seated until over 45 minutes after our reservation time. Then the service was slow, drink order was messed up, etc. Food was ok, beer was ok, not great. Lots of better micro brews in this town. Manager comped us some appetizers and gave us a $ 20 gift card toward a future visit. I’ll be giving that gift card away because we won’t be back. This was my first time here and it will be my last. Too many other good places to eat to put up with this.

Update 10 – 2
Immediately after submitting this review I was contacted by Shane and Brandon, the managers and they have been wonderful to try and figure out what went wrong. Whether it be overwhelmed staff and just mistakes that were made.
They took it upon themselves personally to find out what happened and to work on a solution so that we could feel confident the next time that we would have the same great service as previous visits.
Still not happy what happened. But I appreciate the damage control. We will be back to give them another shot thanks to responsive management.
One of the worst experiences we have ever had at Granite City and I am quite sure we will not be back.
On Halloween (Saturday the 31^st) we had a large group of friends and family (15 total) with a reservation for 4pm. We scheduled it for here because they were so accommodating last time and this is before dinner rush.
They didn’t even write our reservation in their book. Which I called on Wednesday before. I was even shown the book by the host to make sure our name wasn’t spelled wrong.
The host went and got the manager who was this younger blonde in a black and white dress rolled her eyes and acted like we were an inconvenience. Rude. We should have left at this point.
Got to our table which was fine. They had pushed together multiple into a large row table.
We rarely got refills of water/​soda. And it took forever to get our food. They did bring out everything at the same time. And our waiter was nice but a bit slow.
It took 20 minutes to get a check and boxes. And we had to tell the waiter repeatedly.
We were over charged. Myself and my husbands bills were separate and they charged us for 2 appetizers not one and almost apparently double charged us. Glad I read the check carefully. Each cup of tea is $ 3 now. Yikes for hot water and a 25 cent tea bag.
The prices went up a lot and they no longer apply the 10% discount for having their mug club card. They took $ 1 off total. The hostess said this was the discount. Great I pay $ 25 for a rewards card and it gives me nothing.
Overall super disappointing!!! Never thought I would write a bad review of here but here it is. I am dissatisfied and disappointed.

Hosted business lunch here and it was bad for my business and for Granite City’s. Came away disappointed. Arrived at noon on a Thursday — restaurant ¹⁄₃ full… first bad sign. Waited 15 minutes after initial greeting to get waiter to take order… second bad sign. My BL&T with avocado was not much better than most fast food and worse than some… third bad sign. Unbelievably this restaurant is constructing an entirely new replacement for the current facility right next door. A new building might look better, but good business for these guys looks like better food and better service. They have neither right now.

Great Cuban sandwich with fries. Fabulous beer selection & I had the admiral: a mix of beers. Portions are large, so share or ask for a «to go box.» Felt like they needed more waitstaff given the amount of time we had to wait on a table (much longer than they said) and how many empty tables needed clearing. We had a great waitress who gave us good suggestions including the small chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Considering it was a Friday night, and we didn’t have reservations, the 30 minute wait wasn’t too bad. We stood at the bar & had some great beer.
Tip: you might ask for a «half» size portion on the salads if you aren’t a huge eater.

Really good food items this evening our group of 5. I had Cajun Pasta and a Bacon? Flatbread with 2 dif made beers. No soda pop made here. Others had same Flatbread, a Sirloin, and a Burger. All was good. Nice Hello and Visit with Brewmaster who we found as almost family! Amazing. Was a fun experience for all.

This place was awesome~ They have great beer and even better food, and we had a fantastic waitress to go with it. We started with the with the Idaho Potatoes and the Beer Sampler: the seasoning on the potatoes was fantastic, and the dipping sauce was a perfect balance. We enjoyed trying all of the different beers– we liked the Two Pull and the Octoberfest the best. DEFINITELY recommend their Big Show Burger and the Bedda Cheddar burger– hubby said it was the best burger (s) he’d ever eaten. We also tried the Maple Pepper bacon pizza ~The sweet and salty combo with the bacon and the garlic aioli were excellent.

Service is hit or miss as well as the food, but if you can find a menu item As your go to meal here they are pretty consistent. The trouble is sifting through the stuff that isn’t good to find something cravable. The waffle fries and the dip are always good.
I recommend the Sunday buffet but try and be on the early side, the prime rib is mostly the left over pieces if your there at 11:30

They changed their spinach and artichoke dip. Unfortunately it is not nearly as good as it used to be. It was the main thing I liked there. It makes my stomach sad.

Great brews and the BEST Burgers, especially the «Big Show!!»

Love this place! The food is great. The service is fast and friendly. Everything is clean and well maintained. They offer a full bar as well as their in house crafted beers. Lots of parking available. The French onion soup is very good, but my own personal favorite is the cheesy chicken tortilla soup offered on Thursdays. They are good about accommodating large groups. I can always find something to enjoy here.

The fry dip is awesome. They brew their own beer. My favorite beer was summer shandy. I had a holiday martini cocktail with Kinky and Chambord. I ordered a main dish of mac n cheese with chicken and it was creamy and a good portion for $ 8 on the lunch menu. Our server even went to the bar and gave us the recipe for making the martini at home. Service was fast and friendly.

Recently went here for the first time with my girlfriend. She’s new to town and I’ve been here for 10 years, and it was my first time. Everyone has always told me that this place is good, but the food was overpriced for what it was.
We went in and signed up for this membership card they have there. If you sign up you get a a giant beer for $ 5 and the next one is $ 1. Then you a great deal on their appetizers.
The server was great, and very helpful. She did her best to describe their beer selection, but was not old enough to drink, so he level of expertise wasn’t exactly the best.
We decided to just grab several apps instead of a full meal, and it was worth it. We got wings, the Idaho Nachos, and one of their flat breads. Everything was great, but we ordered the spiciest buffalo sauce and got what we’re guessing was mild. We asked the server if we could get the correct sauce on the side, and she brought it out. Later, the manager came out and apologized for the mix up and gave us a few coupons for free apps next time we came in. We were pretty impressed considering it was a pretty minor mix up.
I was very surprised by the experience we had that night, and we will definitely be going back.

Amazing food, service, portion sizes and food! We had the Idaho nachos, the BTA and the beer sampler. It was all delicious. Nice environment, TVs to each the game, and the beer is made on site. We were also told it is a scratch kitchen so everything is made fresh.

The food was very good but the service was a bit slow. I ordered the classic cheese burger with provolone cheese. We set outside but it seemed a little weird that the restaurant was in the middle of a mall parking lot.

I’m from down South and my family took me here for lunch the other day. The hostesses were very accommodating and friendly right off the bat. The waiter was patient with members of our party coming in at separate times and very attentive. I ended up splitting some type of Asian chicken salad and the Asian shrimp appetizer with another person at the recommendation of my cousin. The salad was very good with the two dressings and the waiter was kind enough to have them split it on two plates, as well as the soup that came along with it (in two bowls of course). The French Onion soup was very good as well.
Because the shrimp appetizer was apparently short one shrimp, they brought us a whole new shrimp appetizer, even though I probably wouldn’t have noticed. Not that I’m complaining. It was yummy and we had leftovers! Excellent service and great food all around!
