Last night I saw my fifth show at Vega, and afterwards me and my friend were talking about how much we really like the venue. It’s intimate, but with a good sized stage, the room sounds great and looks good and is always comfortable. It’s one of the only music venues that you can grab some food at and the drink prices are reasonable(and they always have specials). So far I haven’t had anything but the best possible live music experience there and they have really stepped up in bringing in some top name touring acts.

Recently saw Tanlines play here on July 2nd. This is a top notch venue for music and I really appreciate the owner Eli Mardock’s efforts to constantly bring in the acts the he does. One of the gems of the Railyard area.

Vega is a restaurant, bar, and concert venue. Looks like it would be a really great place to see a show! Let me say that the service, drink specials, and food quality are worthy of a higher rating. The service especially, 5 stars on that front. I ordered the veggie burger with all the fixins for the low, low price of $ 5. It was a deliciously good value. However, it cost $ 3 to add fries, which were also pretty much perfect, but I didn’t feel like I got my money’s worth in terms of quantity. The drink specials were 80s themed the night I was there, and were tasty and cheap. Light on the alcohol, but enough to make me chatty… Vega’s online menu spoke of a veggie dog, which I was looking forward to trying. They didn’t have it. In fact, aside from the salad, I think the veggie burger was the only vegan option when I thought there’d be more. To be fair, I saw the salad and it looked great. A variety of greens and purples(i.e., not nasty old iceberg). But I don’t like it when I gauge where I’m going to have dinner based on an online menu that isn’t current, especially when my options are even more limited upon arrival. I, of course, am aware that my options will be limited if I eat at a non-vegan joint, but that’s why I look into the matter ahead of time. I look forward to seeing a show there some time, and updating my review based on that aspect of the business. I don’t think it would take much for me to bump this one up.

Great live music venue. They do seem to struggle with crowds a bit in regards to timely food service, but the food is pretty good and at least somewhat unique. Would like to see more craft beers on tap/specials. Overall Vega is a solid addition to the live Music scene in Lincoln, which is going to be their primary focus. Cheers to Vega!

Kitchen completely inept. Been waiting an hour for a burger and brat. Ordered my second old fashioned cocktail, no orange and cherry whatsoever. Knew I was in trouble when he pulled out the bar book. Yet they feature old fashions on their drink menu. Solid music venue, but eat elsewhere.

Now, I haven’t been to Lincoln in about 8 years, so this whole Railyard area totally took me by surprise! My friend had heard good things about Vega, so we headed there for a late lunch/early happy hour when I came to town. I wanted to like it, I really did. I ordered a hot dog with mac & cheese on top. Unfortunately, nothing else(not even a sauce) was included on the dog, there was a lot of bread and it was very very dry. I couldn’t even finish it. Sorry Vega, I won’t be back.

Specializing in hit dogs, their stuff was fresh and unique. The atmosphere is great, the balcony outside is connected to other bars. During the summer it is an awesome place to be. This is a new area, so hotels, plenty of bars and restaurants are within walking distance. We happened to be there for a happy hour event for a group. They were very accommodating and helpful when it came to serving the group.

This place is almost always empty which makes me sad. The food is really delicious and creative, and they have excellent veggie options for a vegetarian like me. Skip the truffle mac and cheese – it’s not good. But indulge in the unique veggie burgers! I have yet to try the veggie hot dogs but will be back soon. My only complaint is that they cook everything in peanut oil so one of my friends with allergies couldn’t eat there. Also, sometimes the live music is really really loud, which makes conversations hard.

We ordered 2 burgers and fries to go and once we got back home(live in downtown, so not far at all) the burgers were completely mushy. They barely gave us any fries and the burgers tasted HORRIBLE. We both took a couple bits and threw them away. I won’t be going back for food at VEGA.

Terrible service. I attended a small concert and was escorted out for pouring ice into my girlfriend’s water cup. I see this as a terrible show of character for this business. Emptying ice into a cup full of water should not be classified as giving alcohol to a minor. Also, hearing the attendant say«those FUCKING minors» as we left did not make our night very special. I will not be going here ever again.

Update: I think that Vega has worked the kinks out. The first time we ate there, some of the choices were not available, however we tried it again today, and were so glad we did! We tried the hamburgers, and the truffle mac and cheese. The mac and cheese is amazing(even our three year old loved it!!) and the hamburgers were good as well… and there are so many different ways to «dress» your burgers and hot dogs. Just like before, the service was quick and the employees(we spoke to Jeremy on the phone when we placed our order) were helpful and friendly. We’re updating our rating to a 5, and are so glad we gave Vega a second try!

It may have taken this venue a bit to get up to full speed, but it is now a truly unique spot. Many have mentioned the fine sound quality and great set up to see music — all true and important because it is primarily a bar and music venue. But the food is so original(if you can believe that about hot dogs and burgers!) and the combinations of flavors cover every taste from mild to adventurous. The veggie burger is really satisfying and you can get Mac n chz or pad Thai on your burger… So delicious! Great bar and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Not to miss and a place to keep going back to.

My wife and I ate lunch at Vega and later returned for music/drinks in the evening. I wanted to try their new burgers and had the South by Southwest, which was perfect. The seasoned fries were tasty and the made from scratch garlic aioli dipping sauce complimented them nicely. My wife wanted gluten free and they accomodated easily, with a Perros Amores burger sans the bun and great veggie chips(had to steal a few). She was happy I was happy. When we returned for music, I could not have been more impressed. Others have mentioned this, but the sound quality really is amazing at Vega. Their staff hustles, their food is fine, drinks and beers are Nebraska priced with great variety. What’s not to love?

Don’t not go to Vega. Go to Vega. Eat the food and listen to the music. Your senses will thank you.

i had great expectations – judging from the combos on the menu – but the food was served lukewarm, almost 45 minutes after we placed our order in a largely empty restaurant over the lunch hour. that written, it might have been really tasty if it was served promptly. but i’ll never know.
