while the food is good the service is very slow 45 to 60 minutes for a meal, my own personal experience was even worse when after waiting 45 minutes they told me my order of baked chicken wasn’t available then the owner or manager offered to get me something else but at that point it was to late, overall experience was bad

This is a very solid place to grab nicely seasoned seafood. The cornbread is amazing when its fresh, the crabcakes are good. Not great, but satisfying. The atmosphere is lovely and intimate. My cashier was chill. Ill definitely be visiting again when I a get a craving.

Food and service are pretty good. I had the fried chicken, yams, collards and Mac and cheese with an uptown. All were very tasty. If you plan to do takeout, make sure you call ahead. The wait is long.

One of the best soul food places I’ve been to so far and I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever: the service is awesome and the atmosphere is great and the prices are reasonable imo so I don’t think there’s a soul food restaurant that can touch them! Definitely five stars coming from me

I only tried this place because it had good Unilocal reviews and I am new to the area so I have to base everything off of reviews to find good new spots! I am so glad I did it is absolutely delicious! I am kind of picky when it comes to my soul food but thus is yummy! They are previously known as Sisters of soul

I’m not sure if they were having an off day or what. We get there and they tell us the ac isn’t working but they have huge fans. Like the big ones on the Wendy Williams show. I asked to be seated in front of one. The waitress came back several times to ask if we wanted hush puppies or cornbread. It was bizarre.
She shows me to the bathroom and apologizes for the light not working well so I pee in the dark. Ok I like camping. She finally comes out with cornbread for me and hush puppies for everyone else, I can’t eat had of it because it’s rock hard. She asks us to be patient because everything is made from scratch. We wait 44 minutes for our food. The «ribs» weren’t fresh the ends were like jerk as if they had been sitting out for a while. My friends got friend chicken and baked fish. Neither takes that long to make. The waitress seemed tipsy or on something.
I tipped her 20% and honestly I shouldn’t have. I won’t be coming back when I’m in town. When we left they asked if we were taking a take out menu. I replied no because I don’t live here. The cashier said well you can take one or not. Super friendly!

The food I had (ox tails collard greens Mac and cheese) was really really good I will be back.

The hush puppies were amazing! 6 of us ordered food for pick up. All 6 of us loved our meal. The fried chicken bang bang shrimp and candied yams were all a hit. But you gotta have the hush puppies!

Lunch today was an experience worth sharing, I had read about and tried the Linden restaurant «Beyond the C,» what a fortuitous choice it was. my server was gracious and helpful and immediately made me feel welcome. If you enjoy seafood and southern soul food you will find the menu full of time honored meals. I had the whiting sandwich which came with hand cut potatoes, both were outstanding. And where else are you going to find this «and» white lined table cloths.
Definitely on my shortlist of favorites. I will be there again for Sunday Brunch and Dinner.

Went here with my parents after church one day and I’ve been coming here ever since good soul food!!!

The food was good, I ordered smothered turkey wings, potato salad & collard greens. My least favorite was the potato salad, a little to heavy on the pickled relish for my taste buds. Nice portions, I would definitely order again, but not if I’m in a rush, they seem a little unorganized, while my order was ready when I got there, it took longer to get the food in my hand than it did to drive there. This establishment should work on improving their organizational skills; customer service is just as important as good food.

So I was in «the dog house» with my wife and wanted to do something nice to put a smile back on her face. I called and asked them to do something special for me and they came through.
It was a Tuesday night so the place wasn’t packed… They set me up with a table in the middle of the dining room. A bucket of ice with a bottle of Moscato and 2 Coronas. Wine glasses and a little teddy bear. My wife was very pleasantly surprised and was excited to be there.
Now that the stage was set, let’s check out the food …
I got oxtails, collard greens, candied yams, and hush puppies. Oxtails had a nice thick gravy over them … Very tasty … Greens needed a little more flavor, but I still enjoyed them … Can’t go wrong with yams … Hush puppies were soooo good.
Wife got the seafood combo … She loved it.
Another thing that i liked was the presentation of the food. Played very neatly and pleasing to the eye …
All in all a great experience. Not to mention i had a groupon discount, so that saved me a few dollars. Definitely worth checking out. They also have a Sunday buffet which I will come back for asap.
