So happy to find a delicious hibachi place right in Lisle! With a such an eye-catching exterior, I was worried the food might not be good, but everything was excellent! Beautiful inside too. And the hibachi chef was friendly and talented, and cooked/performed almost the entire time we were eating to keep us entertained and well fed! It was a good, fun experience even for hibachi regulars who generally know what to expect. Loved it!

Stopped in because I was in the mood for sushi. I ended up getting an order of General Tso chicken with a side of fried rice and an order of their Smokey Mountain Roll. The fried rice was ok at best. The cuts of chicken were very small and it lacked any real vegetables. I prefer a fried rice with onion, string beans, and even some egg. But oh well. The General’s chicken was pretty good. The sauce was the perfect balance between thick and sticky and watery. It included some fresh pepper and onion slices too. I only wish it were more spicy. The sushi was the real treat. The flavor of the sushi I had was out of this world. It had salmon, avocado, and cucumber inside. With smoked salmon, lightly charred cream cheese, dry garlic and gomapon sauce on top. The only problem was the portions were waaaay to big! I hate to complain about big portions but… with sushi it needs to be a single bite portion. Either way the sushi was awesome! I suggest you try it.

Love this place! Very clean and nice décor. I usually go for hibachi and sushi and sit upstairs without the whole show. Everything always tastes great and fresh and the staff is super friendly. Definitely give it a try! Greatttt sushi and i also place orders for carry-out, yum!

I would give this place 3.5 stars. We got the sushi for 2 special for $ 35. It was quite a value, but the food wasn’t extraordinary, which can be somewhat expected when you’re going for value. This special included 2 miso soups, 1 appetizer, 8 pieces of sushi, and 3 maki rolls. Again, good value. I should also note that if you opt for this special, you are given a separate, limited menu. The soup was great, but our vegetable tempura appetizer was slightly undercooked based on the batter. I enjoyed the individual pieces of sushi. The maki rolls were mediocre; but to be fair, these weren’t their signature rolls, which I’m sure are better. For really good rolls, I would recommend Chef Soon in Lisle.

So, this is one of those flashy benihana type spots at night, but at lunchtime, most of the patrons sit around the sushi bar and have a quiet and non flashy meal. I got three rolls and an appetizer for under $ 30 — which is crazy cheap! Quality was decent, nothing spectacular, but fresh and tasty — what more can you ask being 30 miles from the city?

I just tried this place on Saturday via delivery. Ok so yes I got sushi delivered. It was okay. For delivery I was happy. I’ll go again and try dine in service and food. The sushi rolls all tasted the same. The crab Rangoon were just cream cheese. I’ll give it another try.

Been here twice now, and will admit the first time was much better than the second time. Food is great, prices are reasonable and service is on par. However, the second time we went our grill master wasn’t as exciting/in touch with us and it was kind of boring. Also, there was a party of some sort going on downstairs and you could hear the music upstairs which they had music on during the dining room, so the music over lapped. And the party had numerous YOUNG kids who were running up the stairs from the lower level and

Great sushi selection. Anything you can imagine on one plate! Love the option of replacing the standard white rice with Brown Rice.

I was excited to check this place out. I had been there about 3 years ago and had a good experience. This time was the complete opposite. I ordered the hibachi scallops and they came out FROZEN. They looked horrid and tasted exactly how they looked. How can they serve frozen food at a place like that. Disgusting. Never going back.

This place looks like a Chinese restaurant turned Japanese. When you walk in, there’s a koi pond and a waiting area to the right. My friends and I had a good teppanyaki experience here. The chef was entertaining, but I’ve had better. We were seated upstairs at 1 of the 2 hibachi tables. It was loud with the fan on, which made it a challenge to communicate with our waitress. She got 1 out of 7 orders wrong, which isn’t too bad. Hibachi Shrimp $ 24 — Always get the egg yolk sauce(a.k.a. golden sauce)! It’s just truly amazing and heart attack inducing, but worth it. The sauce is so rich and creamy, and would make anything taste good, but especially shrimps. The amount of food here was a little larger compared to other places. This dish came with miso soup, fried rice and vegetables. On Groupon, there’s a «Steak and Shrimp Dinner — $ 45 steak and shrimp dinner for two special» that you can get by asking for the special at the restaurant. However, when we asked our waitress, she said they don’t have it anymore. They should really remove it from the Groupon website if that’s the case.

Just your standard hibachi place. Nothing special. I should have tried the sushi, but my wife wanted to have hibachi. It was okay, but at the price they charge, I would have liked more. There are other places I’ll try before coming back.

Don’t get sushi here. I ordered the calamari roll, fire kamikaze roll, and smoked salmon sushi. Calamari roll was okay, there’s really no way to get that wrong. The kamikaze roll on the other hand was just whatever. It was like they tried to put as much sauce on it to cover up whatever crappy sushi they had. The smoked salmon. This was the worst. First of all the color was off. It had no marbling and it did not taste fresh what so ever, more like sitting out for the whole day. One hour later. Food poisoning. Service. Hahaha so I came with my dad who is actually a regular here, don’t ask me why. When we came in the hostess greeted my dad and us(my mom was there too) so nicely and well. Our waitress on the other hand was just. Apathetic? The manager came a few times to ask how everything was since he knows my dad comes often but if he wasn’t a regular we would have had minimal service. My parents got hibachi stuff. And our chef was great and his food was good. Really not much to say.

Tairyo offers a huge variety of foods, from veterinarian to carnivore. The staff did a great job, our server took our orders promptly and ensured we never had empty glasses. Our chef was very enthusiastic and did a great job cooking our food to order. The chicken fried rice wasn’t overly salty. All the food our table ordered from scallops, calamari to filet Mignon was great. Golden sauce was delicious and was only $ 1 extra. The price/quality made for a good value.

My family and I love Tairyo! We have been going there for 3+ years now. My dad is a really picky eater but he loves the hibachi and the chefs there. We like to request Fausto! The hibachi chefs are skillful, funny, and interactive. Wing and all of his staff there are great and make you feel so welcome. Get the French garlic butter on your shrimp and lobster! Chicken teriyaki, yum yum! Scallops are very flavorful. Steak and filet are delicious, too! The horseradish sauce tastes so good with the steak! The sushi there is AMAZING! Lunch specials are great, too! Love the food and people at Tairyo! Thank you guys so much! :)

So many moons ago during my glory days at the beautiful University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I lived above a Chinese restaurant called Empire. They had the most delicious pseudo-Chinese version of General Tso’s chicken I’ve ever had, and I’ve been on a quest for sweet, crunchy, unhealthy, neon orange morsels of delight that could compare ever since, without much luck. For what it’s worth, Tairyo is getting me closer. We ordered takeout from here this week and appreciated the array of menu items, from sushi to hibachi to standard Chinese fare. I ordered the Orange chicken and potstickers, the husband got a myriad of sushi rolls — a Caterpillar, a Dragon, and a Philly. They were doing pickup only, but our food was ready in 20 short minutes. The sushi was delicious and fresh tasting. The caterpillar roll especially was excellent — it was topped with some sort of delicious and inauthentic creamy sauce and fish roe which I loved. The potstickers were crispy without being too greasy. And the Orange chicken took me back to my college days, with its delicious, not-of-nature colored orange sauce, errant red peppers, and crispy, fatty, addictive chicken morsels. YUM. The entrée size was good for two full dinners and was just exactly what I wanted — comforting, a bit gluttonous, and tasty as heck. I have never been IN this restaurant but the other reviews make it seem like it’s worth the stop. We’ll definitely order takeout from here again soon. Nuclear orange chicken is one of my great weaknesses, and I’m glad to find one that satisfies so close to home.

3+ years after my first review and it is always a great experience at Tairyo-hibachi or sushi! Keep it up, and this remains the best combination of quality, quantity, atmosphere and value of all of the many similar establishments in the Western Suburbs!

Right when we walkwd in I was in love with the décor and cleanliness of this place! It was beyond Amazing! The food was So delicious. My hubby ordered the steak and lobster hibachi and let me just say I’m not a fan of lobster but the lobster just melted in your mouth and the steak was out of this world. It was so tender and juicy. I had 3 sushi rolls and they were great. I didn’t finish them all of course but everything was just off the charts delicious! I ordered the Karate beverage… so amazing! I highly recommend this place. The price was well worth it too.

Evening date with my love was mediocre at best. Got the sushi special. Miso soup, green tea and nigiri was good. Rolls were overfried, served with too much spicy mayo I had to scrape a lot off. Quality was that of a grocery store roll. Was curious about the hibatchi grill but based on our experience prob won’t be back. Don’t order the yakitori chicken skewers. They were fried to the max!

I have a Japanese wife so I find these Japanese steakhouses to be pretty touristy and mediocre but this one is the best I’ve seen around here. They have lots of other options like tempura, donburi, udon, ramen, Chinese food, sushi, and while none are authentic they do a good job. The hibachi is very well done and consistent after a few visits. They cook the food as you want it and always put on a good show. The kids at our table loved it. I recommend getting the less expensive options because you get free fried rice and salad and soup and its all very delicious. I did enjoy the calamari and the scallops though so those are good choices for upgrades.
