General Sutter Inn

This is not your typical old fashion inn as they have expanded to include a really cool bar area with both indoor and outdoor seating-​yes people were sitting outside under heat lamps! they have lots of unique beers and ciders on draft and in bottle all for a very reasonable price. This past visit I had a blackberry beer (very subtle blackberry and not too sweet) from a Virginia brewery which was really good. We had an event and reserved the back room which has a small bar. We had mini sandwiches, potato chips (the best I have ever had-​Maui Onion seriously amazing!), a veggie tray with ranch dip, and goat cheese and jam crostini (they were a bit stale.) The sandwiches included a roast beef and swiss cheese, ham, and a turkey with bacon on rye bread. They were all fantastic. The service was great and they have a nice side patio we were able to take advantage of. Definitely recommend stopping by for beer and food while you are shopping in downtown Lititz.

Impeccable service. Jeff Merk and his team flawlessly executed my father’s surprise retirement party. The food was phenomenal and the attention to detail was spot-​on. As a prior Navy Supply Corps Officer, I know the effort required to pull off a top notch event. I 100% endorse the team at General Sutter Inn to plan your next event; I will surely return to Jeff for my needs in the future.

This is usually good food. But never go here during the Lititz Arts Festival in July. Ruben was skimpy, no sauerkraut dry and the sweet potato french fries were cold. I can’t even believe the waitress had the gall to serve that food to us. We might be back but not during the Lititz art fest. They obviously didn’t plan and have enough staff to handle the crowd. Very disappointed after a 27 minute wait.

Delicious bison burger but the BEST warm crab dip ever. Served with celery pita homemade potato chips and carrots.

I went here with my girlfriend and her dad for dinner on a Friday night. It sits in the heart of Lititz so if you do go here, plan to take some extra time to walk around and explore. Lots of shops in a quaint town; definitely a place worth checking out!
The staff was polite and we were were quickly seated in a the dining room which had a nice classy hotel feeling to it. I ordered the bison burger, my girlfriend got the pear salad and her dad ordered the Salmon. The bison burger is one of my favorite things to order and it was absolutely delicious. The pear salad was huge, and although it could have used a higher pear to spinach ratio, was very good. When the salmon was cooked medium well and wasn’t too dry. It had a good salty flavor to it.
All meals were very filling and at a reasonable price. This is a classy restaurant in a prime location of Lititz. I wouldn’t hesitate to walk back in here next time I’m back in town. Very good food!

Stayed here for 2 weeks while training for work. Lots of good things to say including comfortable rooms, cool décor, convenient to have restaurants and bars in one place, and friendly staff.
I would say that their housekeeping leaves something to be desired. They really just pull up the comforter and call it a day. I would have liked trash thrown away, fresh towels left, etc. Also, the kitchen on the top floor doesn’t get stocked too often so all the baked good are stale. Definitely need some more attention to the food up there if you’re going to stock anything at all.

Impeccable service and dinner. Came to general Sutters for the fire and ice festival with no reservation and they gladly accommodated us.
The scotch egg was superb. I dined on an entrée of ravioli, and husband enjoyed the fish and chips double portion.
The most enjoyable aspect is the atmosphere and the band.

I stayed here just before Christmas in 2014 with my girlfriend.
The management was very nice and very helpful with all of our questions. The rooms are very cute and it is all quite modern but also keeps the nice B&B theme.
I proposed to my girlfriend that weekend and the staff was even better in making the weekend very memorable.
We’ll be back!

I was searching for a new place to eat for date night and stumbled upon this place. Never did I imagine I would have one of the best meals of my life (by the way, I am a very picky eater). The setting was clean and crisp — well lit, white table cloths, candles on table. The decorations on the wall made it appear as if one were in someone’s home from the 1900’s.
I ordered the Mozzarella and Heirloom Tomato Ravioli. It was amazing. The pasta was cooked to perfection — delicate but still firm. The sauce made me scoop up every last drop despite the pasta being done. I had ordered a white wine to pair with the meal.

This is a fancy dining room that reminds me of New England. The food is way better than I imagined we would find in the middle of Pennsylvania. Our good luck was to have the most charming Erin be our server. She had a thorough knowledge of the menu and we chose her recommendations after engaging in pleasant conversation about it all. Everything was fantastic!

Erin, our Waitress was the perfect intro to our experience. Soups, coffee, pulled pork and Caeser Salad — all top notch! Will drive from Baltimore to try dinner menu!

Had a lovely girl’s weekend in Lititz this past weekend. The General Sutter Inn served as our home from Friday night through Sunday afternoon. It was my first time visiting Lititz and staying in a real «Inn». It was a very special experience. I enjoyed the historical aspects and loved the adjoining Bulls Head Pub. I found the lobby to be very inviting with the fireplace and comfortable seating. There was limited parking out back, but had a well lit path that led to the front entrance. It was really awkward and difficult wheeling suitcases through the large Friday night Pub crowd that gathered on the sidewalk. If possible arrive early to check-​in and make sure you don’t over-​pack there is no elevator and a lot of stairs.
My mother, Aunt, and I stayed in two rooms on the Rock Lititz Penthouse floor. It was a really cool modern rock themed floor. It was very private and even had it’s own key just to enter. There was a shared kitchen with complimentary drinks and bagels. My mother and I stayed in the Down Stage room (306) because of the separate day bed. My only complaint was the «day bed» (while fitting the décor) was like sleeping on a rock. My Aunt stayed in the Stage Left room (310), it was very cool and had windows with views of the town. As cool as the rock themed Penthouse was an explanation is needed. Why the rock theme in this historic Inn? I’m still left wondering.
The General Sutter is the perfect place to stay if you’re visiting Lititz. It provided a comfortable oasis right in the center of town. I loved how easy it was to walk to all the restaurants and shops. If I return to Lititz, which I hope to do, this is where I’d chose to stay.

Nice place, very interesting rooms both «new» and «old», definitely worth a look if you are in the area. They need to improve the accessibility of their outside from the main building and need to improve their cigar selling/​buying area and also need to add a credit card machine to their main check-​in area, but besides that, nice work!

this place is AMAZING. we were married here a year ago and came back for our anniversary. the food is amazing, the staff is wonderful and my husband loves the beer selection. I recommend them equally for weddings and events or for a nice dinner.

The Sutter is a staple in Lititz. They rotate their menu for the seasons and there’s always something delicious on it.
They moved trivia inside off the patio and into the ballroom for the winter, which was great. We kept coming back.
This is a great place to come have a cold drink on the patio on a hot day. The managers and staff are always friendly and work very hard to make sure their customers are happy.

Took a friend here on a mock date night. The ambiance was very quaint and somewhat romantic, but other than that I really don’t have much to account.
The service was very professional and well attentive, and the food was alright though a little pricy. There was supposed to be live music the night we went, but the band was running late so we listened to a boom box placed on a bar stool. I think if I ever decide to go again I will attend for lunch and sit outside.
I can’t really rant about the food being great, but if you want a nice romantic evening with someone this is a pretty nice venue to have it. Still, I think the patio is where it’s at. I just haven’t found myself there yet.

What a treasure the patio is in beautiful downtown Lititz. We summer in Canada and always hurry home to dine on the patio at the Sutter. Delicious food at sensible prices and great service. How good can it get? I suppose only if it were humanly possible to find someone better than Betty as your wait help.
No wonder Lititz has been named the best small town in the USA.

Nice looking place, nice outdoor sitting area, but do not visit during a busy, touristy, Saturday lunch. Took them 50 minutes to get meal to us. But once the food did come out, it was very good.
I’d recommend this restaurant, just not during a busy weekend lunch time

Reasonable corkage fee, white linen service, friendly and knowledgeable staff, delicious food. They would have gotten a 5 star rating but due to the construction and renovation of this historic building they couldn’t have separate thermostats in the lobby and dining room. As a result, the dining room was chilly and there was nothing they could to to help.
That aside, the place is lovely and I would go back there in a moment.

Came here with the blonde when we were traveling around the area. Excellent appetizers.
I had the Shepards pie which was awesome and as close to the best that I have had over in the UK. The blonde had a pasta shrimp dish that was awesome.
Woud return, you bet we would. I want to have the bangers and mash next time.
