We came up from Annapolis, Maryland, for a relaxing day in Lancaster County. I recalled from a previous visit where we drove through the town of Lititz that it looked like a really nice, walking town. After asking at several locales in the area on directions on how to get to the Lititz, we drove there, and after looking around for somewhere to have lunch, we found the Rooster Street Butcher in a non-descript brick building. What a find! The displays of charcuterie and accruements were mouthwatering, and everything appeared delicious. We settled on a six item charcuterie board and a country salad with butter lettuce, curly endive, bacon lardons, poached egg, herb vinaigrette, and crispy onions. The staff artfully presented the Charcuterie on a wooden board, and the salad was perfectly prepared. As a previous reviewer stated, I am still thinking about food. We also purchased several different types of sausages to grill later in the week at home. The atmosphere claimed that it was styled after a European charcuterie market, and it hit the mark. According to the shop, the meat is butchered and the charcuterie is made in house. You can actually see into the butcher and preparation area through the glass walls in the rear of the shop. What really brought together the dining experience was the personable staff — they answered questions on preparation techniques and storage of the different cuts of meat and sausage. We also engaged in a short conversation when the shopkeeper asked us where we were from — a conversation that was initiated by other shopkeepers in three other shops in town. This is our fourth or fifth visit to Lancaster county as a nice diversion from the hustle and bustle of Annapolis and Baltimore — it is calmer environment with genuinely nice people, and really fresh food.

I’m reviewing for the eat-in portion only… and for that alone, this place is outstanding. The quality of their food is just some of the best around. Oddly, I’ve never had a line or wait here, but the person who served us was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. You come here for the food. Everything you eat will be wonderful — it will blow you away and spoil you for other places that serve meat. I can only assume that if their eat-in meats and cheeses are this incredible, that the product they sell is equally amazing…

Everything looked great in the front of the meat case, but we got the not-so-great-looking ribeyes in the back. I think the owner waited on us, after tearing herself away from someone not buying anything, «Do you want something?» Our ribeyes have thick lines of fat, which shouldn’t be there, especially for the price.

Beautiful butcher and sandwich shop. They have a great selection of high quality meats. The space screams to you, buy something, its gonna be great. We purchased some sausage and short ribs. The sausage were excellent, just waiting to try the ribs. Will go back to try the sandwiches.

Really freaking expensive, but really freaking delicious. The rooster is probably the best chicken sandwich you’ll find within 30 miles of this place. The bacon burger is my go to. Add an egg, you won’t regret it, unless of course you’re trying to watch your figure. In that case go to saladworks. Can be a little slow around lunch, but you can always call ahead your order. As a butcher, they’re also top-notch. Got a duck from them last Christmas that was fresh and fabulous. Their Specialty Bacons are usually pretty freaking good as well. If you’re looking for something a little bit cheaper, I’d suggest Bruno’s, if you’re looking for something even cheaper than that… Subway is your last option.

so we live RIGHT down the street from Rooster st. Finally went for the first time this evening, we have officially found our new favorite spot in Lititz. We ordered the charcuterie and cheese board. Got the andouille sausage and blowhorn cheese. Both INCREDIBLE. I got the ham and Brie sandwich-radical. And my boyfriend got the fried buffalo chicken sandwich with slaw. Everything was so fresh. And unbelievably satisfying. If you are in Lititz, Rooster St is an absolute must. Very clean, very calm atmosphere. Too radical. We cannot wait to be back!

My husband and I have been here several times since opening and we’ve never had a bad meal. Everything tastes so fresh and we love the casual atmosphere. One of my favorite places to eat!!! Highly recommend the bacon burger and the hot roast beef sandwich!

This place rocks. The atmosphere is awesome and the food is amazing. The roast beef sandwich(order it hot) is my all time favorite! And their breakfast sausage is the best I’ve ever had!

Really cool location. If I need to visit a butcher, I will definitely come back. Parking is not the most convenient — although located across the street from a post office and share a corner with a pharmacy. The large amount of «do not park here» signage surrounding the property made it less than inviting. But that did not take away from my visit. Ordered two sandwiches — The Italian and the Apple Ham. Both were fantastic. Next time I will order the Apple Ham heated. Sandwiches were expensive — I won’t be visiting weekly — but it was a nice treat.

Wife and I were in Lititz looking at old barn wood flooring and stumbled upon this place for lunch, we got there early and it wasn’t crowded — yet. Rooster St is a legit butcher with high quality meats and cheeses. We ordered a charcuterie board, roast beef sandwich and roasted garlic and tomato soup with crostini. The meats on the board were fresh and sliced paper thin, if you’ve never had Culatello OMG give it a try. The cheeses were paired nicely with jellies and mustards. The roast beef sandwich was the best I’ve ever had with paper thin red onion crisps that gave the sandwich just the right texture. The tomato soup and crostini were a fresh, delicious pairing. Would definitely go there again. We loaded up on fresh cuts of meats and sausages before we left. The place was crowded when we left around 12:30pm.

My wife and I went here for lunch this week. We ordered the hot roast beef sandwich, the Rooster fried chicken sandwich, cole slaw, and fries with Parmesan and herbs. The shop itself is awesome. It’s incredibly clean and set up with a really trendy design. As for the food… unreal. The roast beef was incredible, and the chicken was spicy and delicious. We loved the slaw, and the fries were nicely done. I will definitely go back for more lunch and some take out orders since the butchered meats and sausages looked really great.

From a local foodie — easily the best quality, best food you’ll get in Lancaster! Anything you get will be absolutely delicious but the Rooster sandwich is a staple! My favorite place to eat.

This is officially now my favorite place in downtown Lititz! They opened approximately 5 months ago and we’ve driven past it a bunch of times but never ventured inside until this past Saturday, 30 min before closing time! My bf had just worked a grueling 26 hour shift at the hospital(on call overnight) the day before and by 6pm, finally reaching his limit, dozed off for a «nap.» Why is this important info for a Unilocal review, you ask? Because, I assure you, there is almost nothing but really damn good food that can wake a doctor from a post-call slumber! I finally managed to drag my bf out of bed by around 7:25 pm and we rushed over to the butcher shop before they closed. The moment we set foot inside, my bf went starry-eyed, half dazed from being woken up, half dazed from the glorious sight that met our eyes. Artisanal and locally sourced meats and cheeses as far as the eye could see. Housemade pastas, sauces, dressings, etc. The smells! Gosh! It felt like we had been transported to Europe! But no, it was all here in little Lititz. What a gem! We ordered 2 cold sandwiches to go since they were closing up shop: The Italian(ham, spicy salami, prosciutto, provolone, oven roasted tomato mayo, crispy lettuce, herb vinaigrette, long bun) and the Smoked Apple Ham(brie cheese, smoked ham, apple spread, demi baguette). Both were phenomenal! When dressing the lettuce on the Italian, they tossed it by hand, coating the lettuce evenly before stuffing it into the sandwich. Makes such a difference! All the ingredients were incredibly fresh and the meats were top notch. I could not get enough of the Smoked Apple Ham. So simple but so good! I am one of those blasphemous eaters who normally picks off the rind on brie, but I only do so because the brie I’ve had have always had bitter rinds. Surprisingly, this is the first time I did not feel the need to cut off the rind because it too was buttery and smooth. No bitterness at all! The brie itself was the creamiest, freshest brie I’ve ever had in the States. Coupled with fantastically smokey but sweet ham and a tart but slightly sweet, probably housemade, ridiculously fresh apple spread, this sandwich was heaven in a baguette! As someone who hails from New York and who has pretty high standards for meats and cheeses, I can say for certain that I will be a regular here! I don’t give many places a full 5 stars but I believe this place can stand with the best delis in New York and still outshine some of them. There is a reason why such a wonderful place exists in the little town of Lititz and not some huge city, though. With so many farmers in Lancaster County, they are able to source locally and that makes a huge difference in taste, quality, and freshness. Their meats come from pasture-raised, grass-fed, humanely slaughtered animals. Truly a wonderful place that everyone who finds themselves in the area should visit! [Tips:(1) They don’t take reservations.(2) Try to call beforehand for take-out, especially during peak hours.(3) They are byob.] Food –(5⁄5) You will not be disappointed! Service –(5⁄5) Super friendly, attentive, quick, and welcoming even though we stepped in just as they were closing shop. Atmosphere –(5⁄5) Rustic, classy, eclectic, homey, cozy, and spacious. Plenty of seating and standing area though I’m sure they get busy around peak hours and holidays. Overall –(5⁄5) A must-try if you’re ever in town!

Absolutely delicious! The chorizo, gourmet sausages and pâté are so good. You can put together a pretty incredible charcuterie board with these high quality meats. We ate lunch here the other day and split two sandwiches with the herb & parm shoestring fries. Definitely try the smoked ham, apple and brie sandwich. It is the perfect combination of creamy, salty, sweet. The bacon burger was a bit on the thin side, but there is BIG flavor. It was delicious with every bite. The herb & parm fries are nicely seasoned. The parm has a nice sharp taste and the herbs aren’t overpowering.

Rooster Street is another gem in the crown of the beautiful town of Lititz, PA. We ordered a standing rib roast 4 days away from Christmas and they made it happen. It came out beautifully. This wonderful establishment is well stocked with all kinds of meats, cheeses and other great provisions. Lunch is a MUST here. It is simply amazing. Next time you are in Lititz, you have to stop by and see Tony and his very friendly crew. They are ready to serve up some delicious happiness.

A small European style butcher shop. We went with the bacon burger, herb/parmesan fries, and a charcuterie board. The meat and cheese board was phenomenal. The bacon burger was good, but not $ 10 good. The herb and parmesan fries left something to be desired, especially at a $ 5.50 price. Would have been nice to have a sauce option for the fries. We picked up a gochujang sriracha bottle, which was a solid mix of sweet and spicy… but it came with a $ 10 price tag for 10.5oz. Overall, this was a great place to visit and for a lunch date. They are BYOB, which is nice, but do not provide much for glass wear unlike many other BYOB spots. I would probably visit again if I were in the area, but would not go out of my way to go otherwise.

Oh yeah, the owners know what they’re doing. I had the smoked ham and brie sandwich and it shows just what can be achieved when all of the ingredients in a sandwich are top notch. Soft baguette with that magical crispy crust, generous portions of warm smoked ham(you can get it cold, but for the life of me I don’t know why), brie melding with the ham, and the apple spread. Oh, the apple spread: dark, sweet and rich with spice. I suspect locals will identify the flavor as apple butter, but it additionally has bits of apple in it for added texture. Well done Rooster Street Butcher! I’m not even going to go into all of the great looking meats in the butcher’s case because that probably deserves a review all on its own. Phuleez do yourself a favor and go get that sandwich now.

I had the Italian sandwich. By far the best Italian sandwich I have ever had. French press coffee and fries. Both very good. Partner had Triple decker grilled cheese and tomato soup, both also excellent. Definitely will be going back.

Rooster Street is excellent in just about every way. Everything, especially the Toulouse sausage, is so good. I despise the taste of lamb and they made me a believer of the lamb merguez. What meat sorcery is this? We are so lucky to have it in existence here in Lancaster County. Staff must feel similarly as is reflected in their chilly if not at times borderline surly attitude(just don’t expect warm and fuzzy from everyone) which is really the only negative aspect of my experience with them«at market»(Lancaster Central Market). Market was where I first saw them. In the summer their lovely cases of fresh and cured meats drew me in. I brought home pates, terrines, sausages, etc. So good. In the very warm days of summer I would definitely bring a cooler with me to if I don’t plan on getting home just after my purchase. I only live 7 minutes of a drive from market but I made the mistake of walking around just a bit more after making my Rooster St. pâté and terrine purchases and I think they degraded in quality. We visited the Lititz store for the first time a few weeks ago. Stunning. It is just a beautiful, beautiful space and we received better customer service here. We ordered a fantastic charcuterie board that was so good I am still thinking about it weeks later. Also, we got the roasted garlic tomato soup and french fries that were both very good. All the sandwiches looked divine and I cannot wait to go back to try one.

This place is truly unique. Stopped by for lunch and ended up taking home some really hard to find delicacies. My wife had a burger, she said it was awesome. I had the ham and brie sandwich on a baguette. So good. While I was there I checked out the meat cases. I walked out with an organic certified heritage chicken, some duck liver mousse(made onsite) some whiskey soppressata(made onsite) and raw milk cheese. If your are interested in organic locally sourced food this is one stop you have to make. They even have thanksgiving turkeys that are being raised just for their customers on a local farm. I think they are sold out but you can stop by and check.

Love this butcher and now sandwich shop. We’ve been a customer for two years going to their Lancaster Market location on weekends. So glad they decided to move their business from Elizabethtown to Lititz. We’ve been purchasing organic/grass fed beef, pork and chicken for years from other sources and their products are some of the best. Always fresh cut and can tell the quality by how white the fat cap is on each cut whether pork or beef. Today was the time having lunch and it was fantastic, the soups and sandwiches were incredible. Really enjoyed them so much that we brought home the lunch special(mac & cheese with short ribs) to have for dinner. This was made to order, yes Mac & cheese made to order fresh! Wow, so when you try this new great find, you will not be disappointed. You get what you pay for and the owners Tony and Kristina are so great, accommodating and give you old school quality products you just don’t get at a supermarket. it’s a real pleasure being their customer.
