I went for lunch today. I wanted the salad bar. They brought me a tiny plate and said I could go up as many times as I like. By the look of the plate, I would need 10 trips to make a normal salad. I ordered it as a meal, not a side. They can keep their stingy salad. I go to salad bars all the time and get a normal plate. The manager tried getting me to order a salad from the menu, but I wanted to make my own from the salad bar. I would have paid whatever the price is for a large salad. I’m not trying to avoid paying the fee to eat. I hate a customer service business that does not provide customer service.

I love their 5.99 salad deals, waitresses are always friendly and quick on their toes. Sounds like tony c. Might have been to lazy to get up more then once

I agree with the person who said greasy spoon. I’ve been here a few times. Salads are ok. Even the breakfast is diner breakfast food. My husband did like the chicken pot pie. But to be honest it’s an older establishment so you know if looks outdated. But to be honest it’s dirty. We took a couple that were staying at our house for breakfast and the wife remarked that everything was sticky or greasy. Salt and peppers etc. So in honesty we have another little place in Tuckerton that’s a better breakfast or lunch place. And it’s on the water. Go there first.

Hard core Jersey diner comfort food. Outstanding soups. Chicken dishes are yummy. Not so great pasta sauce-too much garlic for me. We come here often.

Just a terrible greasy spoon. They try to promote it as middle-priced restaurant with fresh dishes but in reality it’s just a below average place with diner food

This is as local as it gets, folks. On a middle of nowhere(not kidding), old school diner. Real deal. No bells, no whistles, just best service and simple great food. Eggs Benedict were perfect — and I don’t say it often. Simply perfect. Runny inside, just right amount of sauce, with thickly sliced Canadian bacon on crisp English muffin… Mmmm, I am getting hungry just writing this. Everything came out without delay, piping hot, and waitress was absolutely charming. Great pit stop if you driving to/from AC, or if you just happen to be in the area.

Recommended by Glenn at the kayak place a few miles away when I asked where a good breakfast place was. He was so right. jt’s restaurant HASHASHBROWNS. I’VE been looking for HB all over NY and NJ but alas«home fries» are the default and most of those are pretty bad. Hashbrowns here were fine, a perfectly poached egg, and dry English muffin all for $ 2.85. PERFECT! No greasy spoons here. The service was attentive, polite, and friendly. Thanks TJs.

«Everything is fresh» I don’t think so! This is a greasy spoon. That said, I love a good greasy spoon. I kind of ended up here by accident. Due to superstorm Sandy both Scojo’s, Surf City and Tuckerton were closed. We could have gone to the Horizon which is always solid but thought we would try something new. Chose JT’s based on the Unilocal reviews. Never in my life have the reviews differed so much from reality. To be fair the food was O.K., standard diner fare at reasonable prices. The exception being the coffee which was a hideous, watery disaster. To say that the service was amateurish would be kind. Our server apologized a minimum of five times for ignoring us before confiding in us that she felt poorly about treating her previously customer so rudely! Were we being warned? Then the mishaps. My fork was bent to the point of being humorous, kind of like eating scrambled eggs with a soup ladle. The maple syrup dispenser was stuck completely shut. Neither of these minor mistakes are enough to ruin a meal but our server seemed to be at a complete loss on how to rectify the situations. Her well intentioned attempt to pry the syrup dispenser open table side with a fork was something I believe I will never forget, but at least it answers the question of how the silverware gets bent! I am sure that this review comes across as a tad mean spirited, but someone had to offer balance to the two previous five star reviews.

Love, love, love this diner. The food is great, the staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. What more could you ask for?
