Update. I sent this review to their corporate office. They replied after talking with the manager that day. They apologized and explained that there was misunderstanding that my friend was instead looking for a salt shaker and not a pepper grinder. I guess they don’t sell salt grinders because they corrode too quick.
They apologized for the way my friends felt that they were treated. I trust that they can learn from the situation.

No spice left behind! Popped in on a whim as I am a new resident and miss my spice shop from back home. So glad I did! The woman behind the counter was full of ideas and information about Littleton. I was having nachos that night and she introduced me to a fajita seasoning that I think had nutmeg?! Delicious. I will be returning for more ideas and an easy person to chat with.

Always so much fun coming here! They did not have a spice we were looking for. The clerk was so very helpful! She called around and found what we were looking for! Thank you for being so awesome!

I know it’s a chain, but I love Penzeys Spices, and particularly this store.
They have a lot of products that I really like– a wide variety of cinnamon options, an incredible double-​strength vanilla, and a really wonderful Aleppo pepper chili powder– it’s been our go-​to for chicken this summer.
The store is very pretty and open, and the employees are all very kind and helpful.

I know that I am supposed to like Savory Spice Shop more than the national chain store, but I’m sorry, I don’t. Penzey’s is far less overwhelming to me and I feel less stressed while sniffing, perusing, and purchasing.
I also love that almost every time I go in there, I get something for free. The coupons that are sent in the mail are serious– no 10% off nonsense, or other menial discounts. My spice rack is filling up quite nicely because of the free jars of spices that I’ve gotten there.
There blends, like Arizona Dreaming, dress up any meal or side dish in an instant. If I’m feeling in a rut, I just add a little dash of one of their blends, and my meal becomes a masterpiece.

The staff here is amazingly friendly and they have millions (maybe slightly less, seems like millions though) of spices and extracts to choose from! Be sure to check the prices though to make sure you get the best deal, in other words buy in «bulk». I purchased 4oz. of crushed spearmint leaves for $ 6.85 as opposed to 1oz. which would have been $ 2.99

Who thought that going to a spice shop could be so much fun! There is so much variety here, I had no idea so many wonderful spices and herbs existed and were so readily available to me too! I have to say, they have the best Indian ground cumin seed ever! I cook a lot of Mexican dishes and cumin is always essential and using this type of cumin. really makes my dishes POP! I could get lost in there for a over an hour easy! Even though this is a chain, it really feels like a small mom and pop shop. Great atmosphere, prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. Two thumbs up: o)

As we were wandering around in Old Littleton, we walked by Penzey’s Spices. I was unable to help myself. I had to go in. Up front, I will say two things. First, I wanted everything. Secondly, since I couldn’t have everything and had to select a few things, I think that a better way of sampling the spices than sticking a clean finger in and sampling via said finger would have been appreciated. 10 clean fingers means 10 samples, and I’m not at all convinced that all samplers utilize the clean finger sampling method. In fact, I just put together that a few days after my visit, I was at home with the flu. Coincidence? I think it’s probably not one. Besides this, this store would have 5 full stars from me, and I am beyond excited that we have a store in St Louis… located on Manchester Road (in St Louis)… this is great news, as I will have a place to go to replenish my stock once I’ve run out.
The following 6 spices are what I left with, and had to wrap in socks & underwear (clean ones) to get home safely in my suitcase:
Hungarian Paprika — sweet and mild and will taste great on chicken
Penzeys Hot Chocolate Mix — rich and chocolaty, but still sweet
Penzeys Forward! — an all purpose spice with a bit of a kick
Vietnamese Extra Fancy Cinnamon — very naturally sweet, and a little spicy
Korintje Indonesian Cinnamon — Light, subtle flavor… a nice mellow cinnamon
Chinese 5 Spice Powder — salt free and would be good for stir-​fry. It’s got a subtle sweetness to it
I’ve already sampled two… The indonesian cinnamon was combined with sugar, used to make toast in the broiler. It was good, and I am glad that I have it. I would be interested to try this toast with the more intense cinnamon to see how that goes. My second sample was the hot chocolate mix. It was good, but I am a fan of rich, sweet hot chocolates, so I had to doctor it up quite a bit, which meant adding sugar and a little extra liquid chocolate. I’m not completely sold on the hot chocolate mix, and probably wouldn’t get it again, but will be getting the cinnamon again.

I received a small shaker of something called Pasta Sprinkles as a gift last year, or I think I got it as a gift because I didn’t buy it and it ended up in cabinet. Also, I can’t say that I ever used it on pasta, mostly because I loved the way it seasoned pita chips and I don’t eat much pasta these days. When the shaker ran out I figrued I’d better see where it came from and how I could get some more.
I’d heard of Penzeys but didn’t know there was a location in downtown Littleton, it was great to go to a store and not just order online. Although I probably ended up buying a couple extra things because they were right in front of me!
Great little store, tons of different combinations of spices with ideas on how best to use them. Plus some really nice folks to help you out. Make sure to get the mailer with all the latest recipes too!

I love this place!
They have an enormous variety of spices and herbs, not to mention plenty of pantry goods — mortar/​pestle, spice rack, bottles, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but not pushy at all. I wasn’t aware that this was a chain store until recently, they really make it feel cozy — like a mom and pop’s shop.
I went in for some peppercorns and to look around and left with a bag full of spices and seasonings I’ve been experimenting with ever since. I will definitely head back here when it’s time to restock!

I went into Penzeys yesterday in search of a chili powder I’ve never heard of before for a cold cucumber and yogurt soup I planned on making. I’ve been to some specialty spice shops downtown and expected to dole out some cash for a spice I may not use again for months… but I was surprised that I could buy a 4oz. jar of the spice (which they DID have!) for only about $ 3! In the realm of spices… this is a STEAL! And I didn’t have to buy a large quantity that would most likely dry out and spoil before I used the whole thing. The attendant was very helpful, took me right to the spice I wanted and even gave me a few other tips on what to do with it (she said adding it to mayonnaise with garlic would make an excellent sandwich spread!) I ended up leaving with my intended spice, plus two more hard to come by spices AND a bottle or rare Mexican Vanilla. I was surprised that a large bottle was only about $ 10 (quite a bargain, when I go to speciality food shops for something like this, it turns out to be twice as much!!)
Also in Penzeys favor, being open on Sunday when much of Old Town Littleton is closed! I was so glad I didn’t make the drive over there in vain to find their doors closed on a Sunday. I will definitely be making return visits and many recommendations for this fine spice boutique!

First, I think it’s incredibly unfair that downtown Littleton has two outstanding spice shops, whereas downtown Fort Collins (where I live) has none.
After Savory Spice Shop made a dent in the wallet, we walked by this place is we’re headed back to the car. It also looked extremely inviting, so we stopped in. Had I not just left Savory Spice Shop, I would’ve said this is about the best spice and herb store I have been in. There is an outstanding selection of peppercorns, and also, a great selection of salad seasonings. Actually, if you’re really in a spice hunting mood, I recommend hitting both of the stores, as they seem to complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
The staff was especially friendly. And, I thought the little coloring table for the kids was a cute touch.
Again, I ask, how did downtown Littleton suddenly become relevant?

I never really thought about looking for a spice shop before, but when I was doing some Christmas shopping a few weeks ago I found both Penzeys Spices and Savory Spice Shop on Main Street in Littleton. Now I’ll never buy grocery store spices again! Be prepared for a bit of sensory overload — this place has almost everything you can imagine. It’s a really pretty shop too, and very well organized.
They have large jars of samples of most spices and mixtures for you to smell, and you can buy large or small bottles too — great for the indecisive person who can’t commit to a large bottle. Plus, they have recipes that use some of their spices or mixtures all over the place, just in case something sounds interesting but you’re not quite sure how to use it. They have some great gift sets too — perfect for presents! Don’t forget to grab a catalog or sign up for one online — you’ll get many more recipes, and even some coupons!
