Eh. Definitely not anything to write home about. We ordered the chicken fettuccine and the bacon meatball sandwich because we didn’t have time for the deep dish pizza(although I do know this is what they are known for). It’s kind of pricey for what you get, all in all this was a dud for us. Probably won’t be back anytime soon.

So slow! Still waiting on my ranch and appetizer as I am writing this review. after we are halfway into our pizza. Food and service is so slow! Save yourself a hour of your life and go to another pizza joint. For just as good quality and service and time. Not worth it!!!

Had my my B-day dinner with my family and friends last night. The food and service great. With the right weather(which we had) the patio is a great option. Me and my girlfriend will come back and most of our folks who were first timer’s said they would come back too.

I didnt read reviews until I was Already there placed an order to go I was scared after reading the reviews when the waiter told me it was 45 minutes for a deep dish I ordered a thin extra-large After waiting 35 minutes for the pizza to come out he informed me they made a large instead of extra-large which did not help matters I would’ve thought they would’ve tried to fix the problem before the even brought it out meet me at others Gino’s East including Chicago and never had a bad experience but I probably won’t give them another try based on reviews

Great service from Ashley this evening! Came in 30 min before they closed and unlike some restaurants, they were very welcoming and did not rush us out. I had a very pleasant experience and will come back. Good food and atmosphere! Worth every penny!

This is CHICAGOSTYLE for sure! Went for my birthday and had an awesome experience. Staff was on point with customer service and we preordered our pizza and had no problems getting our pizza on time. Definitely will be back.

Pizza was a little runny at first but settled soon after. Deep dish in chicago was never that runny so i guess i just had high expextations. Pizza was good overall!

I took my dad and little brother out for his 12th birthday and we ordered the Meaty Legend LGDD Pizza. First time eating at Gino’s and I have to say I’m not thrill. Pro: The host was great and the place catered to families. The manager Chase was very nice and asked how our experience was. Service and hospitality is great! Con: The wait was a bit long an hour and 40 minutes and the pizza came out very salty, definitely not worth the wait. Crust was hard and the pizza was sauggy. I had to eat it with my fork. For a pricey pizza, I expected a lot more. Coming from a Chigaco Legendary acclaimed pizzaria, it did not lived up to its name.

Pros: Chicago-style pizza in Texas. Yay! Cons: Not good Chicago-style pizza in Texas. Boo! Do you remember the tale of little George Washington chopping a cherry tree? Every grade schooler from my time, and earlier, knows all about it. In short, little boy George got a hatchet as a birthday gift when he turned six(good Lord, that’s like getting a machete for your seventh birthday!), got into some no-good-business, and damaged his pop’s cherry tree. When his father found out what had happened and questioned George about it, the kid answered, «I cannot tell a lie. I did cut it with my hatchet.» While I wish I could always — heck, even just sometimes — be as honest and upstanding as good ol’ G.W., I will be straight with you all about Gino’s East. It’s not good. While we may not have the best options for Chicago-style pizza in San Antonio, Gino’s should not be your first choice. And probably not even your second. As my reviews show, I make it a point not to bad mouth businesses because my own dad is a small business man. Even then, I make sure to visit a restaurant twice before posting a review. But dude, when the food sucks this much… and this was my second time here. My first time was at the Medical Center location, where I also did not have a good experience, but refrained from writing a negative review until I tried it a second time. It is not a surprise to me that the Medical Center location closed. The only thing keeping me from giving this location one star was our server. I can’t remember her name, but she was courteous, prompt, and friendly. The interior of the restaurant was dark and seemed dirty. The wait for the pizza is 45 to 60 minutes when it’s busy, but we waited only a little more than 35 minutes. Our family got two small Chicago style pizzas and a thin crust pizza. The Chicago-style was bland, oily, and stuffed with a lot of cheese. The terrible part was that the center was not thoroughly cooked. My family decided not to mention it because we would be forced to wait another 30 minutes for another pie or, we would walk out with a refund and an empty belly. While the thin crust was better, it was also bland and way too cheesy. The lack of quality in the food is a big surprise to me because of Gino’s East’s great reputation. My fiancée visited a location in Chicago and had some truly great pie. She was sorely disappointed with the location here in San Antonio, however. And I have to agree with her disappointment. The quality of the food absolutely does not justify the higher than expected price and the longer wait time than other restaurants.

I visited this establishment a few weeks ago and I was extremely impressed. I have had great service at other places, but the service I got from Conan was top notch!!! Not to clingy and not to distant. Cause some waitstaff will check on you every five minutes and always interrupt your meal and some are never around when you need them. Conan was the perfect mix. He was very attentive to my sister and mind’s needs and made excellent suggestions for what to choose, being it was our first time. He was fun and entertaining and I would recommend you ask to sit in his section when you go. The food was delicious. Great flavor and everything. I loved that mozzarella sticks are actually made with hand pulled mozzarella and not the store bought sticks that other places use. The deep dish didn’t seem to deep but it was still delicious to say the least

Amazing deep dish pizza, it does take 45 mins or so for your pizza because it takes longer to cook but it’s well worth the wait. We will be returning when we are in the mood for deep dish again! Need to try out the thin crust next time.

Ordered a deep dish veggie, thin crust pepperoni and family platter. Deep dish was pretty tasty(especially leftover) with the cornmeal crust but not terribly thick(the frozen one at HEB is thicker). The thin crust was meh and the platter was meh. Overpriced all around. Server was courteous. My suggestions: stick to deep dish and call about 45 mins ahead of time to get that pie in the oven ahead of arrival.

First time here and very Impressed! Pizza is amazing and service was exceptional. Yes, you may have to wait a little time for your pizza but that’s because they take great care in the preparation. The house salad was also very fresh. This place is a must if your a pizza fan.

Gino’s East is the real deal! The pies are consistently excellent and the servers are a lot of fun. If you leave there hungry… you must have done something wrong. We have had one server in paticular twice(Suzette) and she is awesome! Informative and very attentive.

Its about an hour to receive our pizza and in all honesty i am ok with it but… The first it was cold and not even cooked completely… I told them thsy Both my husband and my slices were Cold and doughy and instead of recooking us a new one or even offering to remove it…(i took a bite of mine and my husband didnt eat any of it just poked at it to see what i. saying). They returned to the table with it heated up and put it in ato ho box … Seriously… And only 2 slices. So i just paid 23 for slices of pie… First and lost time!!! Our bill was over $ 70.00 for a Appetizer salad and pizza and 2 drinks

Bought a groupon to try this place out. The atmosphere is nice. We were quoted an hour and a half wait but were seated in 20 minutes. The pies seemed a little overpriced, but we ordered the meat lovers deep dish and some wings for jumbo wings as appetizers. We ordered BBQ but they brought us buffalo wings. They corrected their error and told us to keep the buffalo wings. There was nothing jumbo about the wings. They were pretty small and dry. The pizza took about 30 minutes but we were informed before we ordered that deep dish pizzas take a while. The pizza did look good when it got to the table, but when the waitress cut into it to serve it, it started falling apart and was very runny. The cheese used on it was very thick, thick to the point where it made you feel as if you were choking. My kids ended up not really liking it. It was ok for me though.

When you think Chicago pizza you think nice thick dough. You definitely wont be getting that here at Gino’s. Pizza(if you should call it that) looks and taste more like a bad lasagna. The dough was as thin as a thin crust and the over all taste was not that good. They pour on really running sauce and taste like it is from a can. The service was good but the décor for weird. I won’t be trying this place again.

I RATHERHAVEPAPAJOHNS. Food: The food taste like BLAH. We ordered calamari and a large deep dish. I always order calamari at a restaurant when it’s on the menu. The calamari here was probably some of the worst I’ve had because it had absolutely no flavor. The marinara dipping sauce was decent. The deep dish pizza very disappointing. It was VERY watery(see pic) and tasted like canned vegetables, pepperoni, and tomato sauce on top of cornbread. Service: The service was attentive and friendly, maybe because we were initially the only people there. Warning!!! It takes an hour to cook a deep dish so be ready to sit around a while. Ambiance: Place looks nice from the outside and is decorated nicely in the inside. OVERALL: Will not be back here because of the bland food… This place would be great if the food was better. In its current state, just go to Texas Roadhouse next door to this place.

The server was very friendly, but the pizza was the worse«Chicago Style» pizza I have ever had. I also ordered a Caesar salad, which had no flavor at all, it tasted like plain lettuce. After telling both the waiter and Manager the pizza was«flat»(it was maybe 1 inch think in a 3 inch pizza pan), I kind of expected some sort of discount. No discount was given! I would much prefer Mellow Mushroom pizza or Grimaldi’s pizza as they will deliver a quality pizza every time.

I was pleasantly surprised how well my visit was. I showed up around 4:30 and sat at the bar. I was promptly greeted and chose a Firemans 4 brewskis. As I’m well versed in Chicago Pizza and in particular Gino’s in Texas I chose to go thin crust. I made a custom Medium pizza with pesto as the base, mozzarella cheese, green peppers and chicken. I also ordered some chicken wings well done just to try. The wings came out fairly quickly and super hot although not well done as I asked. Not a total deal breaker so I ate them anyway. Once finished with the wings I began wondering where my pizza was. Since I got a thin crust I made an assumption it’d take 20 mins. It ended up taking 45 mins and that’s when these guys aren’t busy. Overall I loved my pizza. The pesto was tasty, the green peppers were fresh and the cheese was of high quality. The best part was the bottom of the pizza had a nice crunch to it and not soggy. Overall I would recommend coming here although please be aware that it will take a while to get any kind of food. It’s also a bit pricey although in line with what’s charged in Chicago. Soooo go get some!
