El Castillito Taqueria

This is the best Mexican food in Livermore, I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet. For years we would go all the way to Fiesta Taco in Pleasanton, but now that we discovered El Castillito, we rarely find ourselves over there.
Recommended:
Carnitas super burrito — meat is crisped on the flat top but still juicy
Al pastor or chicken tacos
My only gripe is the limited selection of salsa, but the food more than makes up for it.

Funky location behind a McDonalds but great food at a fair price. The converted Taco Bell look of the outside may be a bit of a turn off but they have some tables on a little patio if you want to dine outside.

This place is small. But the employees do care about you’re visit. All I have to say is they have the hottest wet burritos around. The steak is not salty it’s fresh. So is their rice and beans. This place is hidden away. It looked like it was an old Taco Bell. Oh and one more thing it’s cash only place. They do have an ATM machine though.

Really friendly personal that cares for every order. The taste in the food is like being vacationing in Mexico. The authenticity an elaboration of their dishes is remarkable.

Man :(This used to be our FAVORITE taqueria, but the last 3 times something has changed. It seems like maybe they have switched cheaper, lower quality meats? The steak is much more fatty and chewy now and the food is much, much greasier than before.
I thought about having a burrito from there all day yesterday, and when we finally went, both my husband and myself were pretty disappointed. Something’s changed and the food is not as good anymore :(

Love this place. Very authentic. My boys love the bean and cheese burritos. I prefer the stake tacos. Soooooo good they even have coke from Mexico.

Favorite place for Mexican food in Livermore. I went in for some soup for my dad, I told the guy what I wanted and he made it from scratch right there and it was so good

Fantastic burrito and chips & salsa! I brought an über customer here and he recommended this place! This is my new go to taqueria in Livermore:-) It’s just a hop skip and a jump from the local wineries:-)

I give the sensational food, low-​price, and service the credit for the five. If you need luxury seating arrangements then you might need to change your needs., it’s worth it!
I had 2 soft tacos first… pastors and they were fantastic! Served in an artfully placed array of lime radish and SALSA (!)

One of my favorite taqueria s in the area. I consider my self a burrito enthusiast. My go to burrito is the chicken burrito with fajitas added. On point every time. Chips and salsa bar is off the hook aswell.

Wonderful little gem in the heart of Livermore, who knew. The self serve chips and chili was deliciously on point. Tacos were perfect and my side of retried beans were too damn good, reminded me of my grandmas.
I will be back hopefully soon!

This place is hidden from the street in the old Taco Bell location. They have the best quesadillas in town. Consistently delicious. All you can eat chips and salsa too. The husband also orders the soft tacos. Yummy. We visit this place often.

Went late one evening after reading the reviews on here and wanting good Mexican. Settled on trying the chicken fajita plate, but they were out so I got steak instead. Initially not thrilled that the steak fajita plate cost as much as all of the seafood dishes. BUT when I got home and opened the container… holy moly that was a HUGE pile of steak, peppers and onions!!! And delicious. Only thing that would have made it better would have been to have more than just the meat/​pepper/​onions, rice and beans. I guess I’m used to some of the other local joints (Los Pericos, Fiesta Taco) where a fajitas or meat plate also has lettuce, salsa, guac. Still, I’ll be back to try the chicken fajitas and at least one of the shrimp dishes.

Yummm! Solid burrito right here. Came here on a whim because I was house sitting in Livermore and I was happy with my choice. Their salsas were pretty good. The chips were ok– they were sitting out in a big bucket/​tub so hard to say how fresh they were.

So, I recently came to Livermore on a temporary assignment and turned to the Unilocalers to help me find a good place for lunch and was led to this restaurant. It is very unassuming and tucked away behind a McDonalds, but this place is AWESOME. I wasn’t sure what I wanted for lunch and decided on a carnitas taco salad and BOY, that was amazing and HUGE. They refried the carnitas so that they were nice and crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside and the flavor, well, probably some of the best carnitas I have ever had, YES, THEY ARE THAT GOOD!
The only thing I can say is that I wish it had a little more lettuce, but WOW. This is definitely a MUST VISIT WHEN IN LIVERMORE place for me!

Their All Meat burritos are packed densely with fresh flavors and tender, juicy, marinated meat. Lose the lettuce and keep the tomatoes, peppers, and onions for best results. Service is quick, friendly, and simple (pick up your food at the counter and return to the counter for refills of water). Outdoor seating is available and dog-​friendly!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE El Castillito Taqueria. This place is consistent. Authentic. You may not be able to count on your parents or so called friends but this Taqueria will be there for you.
I forgot about this gem for a while… stopped by after work one day and that’s turned into a full blown binge. I’ve eaten here three times in four days. No shame. Having urge to go here for lunch.
What to come here for: CHICKEN !!! It’s so juicy. It’s so flavorful. If you never order chicken we are two of the same but when you come here you order chicken! The chicken super quesadilla to be specific.
Or their shrimp cocktail. Bring a friend to share the cocktail as an app! What an excellent idea. I need a friend…

It’s located tucked away almost behind a McDonalds.
Once you get there, you can’t miss it as it is a brightly colored building.
They have indoor & outdoor seating.
It’s a small hole-​in-​the-​wall place so it seats probably 15 – 20 people tops!
As soon as you walk in, turn right & that’s where you order.
The menu is located above the kitchen so just take a step back & see what you want to order.
I decided to go with #21. Veggie Quesadilla.
Yeah, it was quessadilla but when I got it, they made it into a burrito style as you can see in my picture.
They have self-​serve salsa & chips & toppings & sauces too.
The quesadilla burrito was huge! I ate about ¹⁄₃ & packed the rest.
It was okay, I’ve had better.

I came here a few times with co-​workers for lunch. My food was usually pretty good, and I really liked the very back room.

Very good tacos and burritos; reasonable price and friendly service
Free chips and tasty salsa.
In side of rest, it had small numbers of sitting table but it had patio outside and more sitting table.
Beef and chicken, both of them were seasoning well.
Gave me good flavor.
Will go back if i am tired to cook meals on the weekend.
