Wtf how do people like this place? The food was bland. The biryani smelled bad(like it was 2 days old) and the prices are fucking ridiculously high. I had one of my worst meals here.

I’ve Struck Oil! OK, that I may have exaggerated, a little. I didn’t actually strike oil, but there was a thick layer of it, sitting at the top of the container of the Chicken Mushroom Korma that I bought from India Express. I love Indian food and have been wanting to try this place for lunch. The appearance of the restaurant is clean, service is friendly, but I was surprised to be the only customer in the place, during lunchtime on a weekday. I ordered Chicken Mushroom Korma, rice and Garlic Naan, which came to $ 13.00. When the order came out of the kitchen, wrapped up in a bag, it looked big, but when I was back at work and opened it, the container of Korma was surprisingly small, and half of it was a thick layer of oil. What comes to mind is the process of making gravy and the layer of oil that settles at the top, that must be removed before serving. The removal of oil would have made this Korma much more appetizing. Maybe the cook prefers to have a little Korma with their oil? Maybe they should correct the name of it to «Oil with a side of Korma»? I’m no health food nut, and I know from a required Nutrition class that I’d previously taken in college that a little oil is not bad, but this was abundant and definitely not a «heart-happy» portion. Will I go back to try another dish? Maybe, but doubtful. The portion did not correspond with the cost and the flavor did not compensate for the straining of oil that I attempted to do to make this item edible. I don’t know how someone could dish this up and serve it to a customer.

I want to give zero stars to this place if possible. I don’t know how it ended up having 4 stars. We came here and were totally disappointed. Food is very bad. We tried both veg and non veg food and both varieties were equally bad. Rotis were so bad that I sent them back. They were like papad and too salty. I really advice all to avoid this place.

visited for lunch. The food taste and quality was mediocre. butter chicken, aloo tikki, daal were sub par(spicy, les salt, tasteless). At 13 bucks price point I would expect a lot better. Not sure why Unilocal rates them at 4 stars.

This place has went down, I can’t put my finger on it, but the flavor is just there anymore, a few people from the office use to go here at least weekly and that has changed to never anymore, just not a fan anymore.

Horrible place. Dont waste your time & money. Service is useless. It took 40 minutes to serve the food, Food quality is ok. You order Lachha paratha, you get Tandoori Roti, seriously? Quantity & quality needs to be revisited by the management. The lady was shouting at one of the attendants, so badly — it sounded as if that gentleman has got no value, if you have to do that, please do that in a place, where no one can hear anything.

Abysmal service and subpar food. We were in Livermore visiting the Indian temple, and didn’t want to venture too far for lunch as it was 2 pm already. Found this place on Unilocal so decided to try it. The presentation of the food was not appealing at all. I know this isn’t a five-star Indian restaurant(Amber in San Fran or Dosa on Fillmore in San Fran being our favorites), but a little cilantro garnish on the daal or brightly colored utensils wouldn’t hurt. Now for the worst: The dish we ordered clearly said ‘served with rice’. Initially, it didn’t come so I asked the owner/hostess/server about this. «Oh, you want rice?»(What else am I supposed to eat the daal with)? When I began to say«Oh, I thought it said on the menu.», I was immediately cut off/snapped at «You want rice, you’ll get rice, don’t worry.“Did I mention that she was the only one on the restaurant floor? Employing more staff might be a thought, management! The potato parathas were lacking in salt and had no taste, and the chicken tariwala was overpowered with salt. Finally, when the rice arrived, it was about two tablespoons in a shallow dish. We had to walk over to the hostess desk to get her attention and ask for more. Felt like Oliver Twist, even as a paying customer. Never again.

My last experience with this place disappointed me so much. What happened: We sat down and ordered our normal,(2 paneer tikka masala, 1 chicken tikka masala, and 3 buttered naan) The meals come with rice so we always order naan on the side. They brought out the naan first, then the paneer and chicken. We waited and waited for them to bring the rice out until I finally asked for it. They then brought us one small bit of rice on a plate then the cook looked out to see if we’d notice that they didn’t give us all rice. Then the parties across from us were served the correct amount of rice. I was so upset because instead of letting us know they were still cooking the rice or whatever the case may have been they tried to trick us. We came here often and knew how much we were supposed to receive. The food as usual was great but the service we had received in the past has been lost. You’ve lost a loyal customer.

I’d bump this up to a 3.5 just because of their lamb. Practically down the street from me and probably the best of the three main Indian restaurants from me. I got the chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo. A couple of my staple eats. The chicken tikka masala was average. Nothing special but nothing huge to complain about either. The lamb vindaloo is what surprised me. Sauce was as expected but the lame was incredibly tender and tasteful. I’d get both again. The only complaint I have is that they seem to skimp out on the meat. I only had maybe 5 or 6 pieces of meat in each dish. Other than that, service was great and food was pretty good. I’ll see ya soon!

This is the restaurant to go to if you want to suffer abuses. Whether it be food poisoning, horrific customer service(by both employees and management), or you’re just in the mood to eat at an unsanitary restaurant to test your immune system. Look no further, this is the place! You’ve been warned so have your co-pay ready for the ER.

The butter chicken is on point! I live in the area and it’s super easy to run in and get some take out. We get the same thing every time, but it’s also been the same quality every time. It’s a bummer to see some of the low reviews on here because we’ve always had great food. We generally get take out on the weekend afternoons.

The worst Indian food I’ve had in nor cal in a long time. The dishes had no spice or no salt. The rice was so horrible — it looked like it was 2 days old. The service was slow and the place was empty. There’s no way that I would return to this place ever again. I can’t believe Unilocal led us so wrong — how is this place worth 4 stars???

Just ate here for the first time and it was awesome– perfect to fill my Indian food craving. Prices are great and everything was good there was not a crumb left! Will definitely return and maybe try the buffet.

The worst place ever. This place should be ashamed to served Indian food. I called and asked if they had chicken vindaloo and they said yes, hence I ordered it. Once I got home, the meat(the few pieces that was given), was not chicken! My suspicions made me call and they said it lamb and that they don’t serve chicken vindaloo. How hard is it to put chicken in vindaloo when they have chicken curry! What a disappointment.

I was heading home and had already been sitting in traffic for an hour and GPS told me it was going to take ANOTHER hour to get home. So I stopped in here to pick up food for the drive. Best decision ever! The place wasn’t busy because it was a little before the standard dinner crowd would arrive, I was greeted immediately & the guy answered all of my questions, and my food came out very quickly! I could hear them cooking it fresh in the kitchen, and before I knew it, my food was ready! I took a couple bites in the car & I was extremely impressed by the quality & flavor of the food! Everything tasted amazing, and authentic, and everything was very fresh with very good quality ingredients & spices! They even deliver if you have the Eat24 food ordering app! However, they don’t deliver over Vasco to Brentwood/Disco. I am DEFINITELY going to return again, I haven’t been able to find a good Indian restaurant in my area, Livermore is close enough & it’s well worth the drive! Customer service is awesome & so is the food! If you enjoy Indian food, or if you haven’t tried it yet, you must come here! My favorite meal is 3 orders of garlic Naan, sag paneer(spinach with cheese cubes), an order of samosas, and the roasted eggplant with veggies! It’s enough for multiple meals & the leftovers are the best! Can’t say enough good things about this place!

Ate at this place about 8 months ago and it was very good. Stopped in on 1÷20÷2016 and the food was horrific. The saffron rice smelled rotten, the curry lentil was watery and most items including the goat was very bland. To top it off, my nan was filled with black mold inside. I thought it was just carbon from the stove when I tried to brush it off but it was inside too. I choose them over the Charbroiled chicken sandwiches at Carls to give them business. WILLNEVERSTOPAGAIN.

Beware: RAW tandoori chicken Because of this place, I am worried that my sister and I will get food poisioning before the thanksgiving feast. The chicken was so raw that the entire center of the chicken breast was pink! The meat on the drumstick that I bit into was definitely a bit slimey. After we told the lady about the chicken breast, she took it away and told my sister that she can have another plate. Are you serious?! Of course we can have another plate, this is a BUFFET! I thought we will get at least a discount considering we may get food poisoning from this place and we hopefully prevented other people from the same fate. But nope — full price. Yes the buffet is cheap at 9.99 but the place is not clean and the food was mediocre at best. Avoid this place if you value your own health!

Moderate-sized, Indian restaurant located within a shopping plaza on Vasco Rd, alongside Starbucks and several other small eateries. They share a large parking lot with the neighboring businesses and have a fair amount of indoor seating. My husband & I have dined here twice — once for dinner, and once for their lunch buffet. On both occasions, the restaurant was empty. Service was decent, but we were pretty disappointed with their food — their naan was hard & bland, portions were on the smaller side for the price, and some of their meats were gamy. In addition, their buffet dishes are not placed under heat lamps so everything was luke-warm :( Sansar Indian Cuisine in downtown is much better with more variety, better flavors, and hot dishes!

This is a nice place to have a buffet lunch. It’s priced just right and the variety of dishes is plenty given the price. Fresh naan is brought to the table as needed. Some of the dishes are hits and some are misses. But I have to say that the goat curry is really quite nice. In fact I would pay the buffet price just for the goat curry. The masala chai is great because they don’t add sugar to it, allowing you to choose your own level of sweetness. Overall I will certainly return here for lunch. This is a solid option to include in the list of quick lunch places in Livermore.

Indian Express is located in a very suburban looking plaza. I thought that it was going to feel a bit chain-like on the inside, but it actually felt really quaint. The service here was excellent. The waitress(proprietor?) was really friendly and considerate. My water glass was always full, she offered recommendations to our order in a sincere non-pushy way, and she was just really friendly overall. It was enough to have my wife and I comment to one another about how friendly she was. Food wise, we ordered the Kerala Lamb Curry, Butter Chicken, Dahl, and some Naan. All of the dishes were good. They were also quite saucy, so the absorbent properties of rice, naan, or the myriad of other Indian roti(i.e. breads) come in very handy!
