EEK! This is not a regular Loard’s, but an ice cream counter in a Taqueria. Promised the DGD’s sundaes when they moved into their new house, but they don’t serve them. They claim the ice cream is Loard’s, but I couldn’t tell. Hot restaurant, kids both got a cone in a cup… they liked it. I will drive across town next time for the real deal.

Loard’s used to be its own store but now it’s combined with tequilas taqueria, which kinda messes with me cuz I feel like taquerias are warmer in temperature and ice cream parlors are cooler. The opposite would not be good to either types food. I just pick up my ice cream and eat outside or walk home with it. I feel like eating inside would mix with the Mexican food smell. Eek.

Loard’s shares a tenant space with Tequila Taqueria(sounds like Tila Tequila’s Mexican sister or something). They only offer 24 ice cream flavors, which sounds like a decent variety, but the options weren’t very exciting. Mango was the most interesting flavor. Everything else was pretty basic. Compared with the other Loard’s I’ve been to, this one was the least impressive in terms of variety and freshness. At least the ice cream cones aren’t stale. I should mention that the staff person was nice and patient, though.

We love this Loard’s Ice Cream downtown. The people there are extremely friendly… not sure what the other reviewer was talking about. They know my son’s name after only a few visits and are always super friendly to us. Plus, the ice cream is really yummy! I would highly recommend the Loards on 2nd street downtown!

I actually don’t like the downtown Loard’s. This place is closer to home and the lady was very helpful. She was smiling and very patient. The ice cream was just like the one in downtown(no freezer burn or Mexican taste ???) I prefer going to the Vasco branch over the downtown branch. I can not stress how much I prefer this place over the place in downtown, where they are NOT friendly!

I love Loard’s Ice Cream, they get 5 stars, however this place not so much. They are connected to a Mexican fast food joint and it’s basically just a small area that serves ice cream. They don’t have the pre-made ice cream in containers. The service was lacking and when we asked for ice cream in a container, the lady didn’t even wipe the scooper off, which had residue of another ice cream on it. The ice cream didn’t even taste right, like you know when ice cream has been sitting hella long in your freezer, it gets that nasty freezer burn taste? Well, it had that and Mexican food taste to it. I would definitely not come here again. The only reason it gets two stars is because its Loard’s ice cream and I love the Mango ice cream! Don’t come here, just head over to the one in downtown, you will be saving yourself from bad service and ice cream!
