Mike’s is your solid downtown diner, the current resident in the space formerly occupied for about 300 years(or close to it) by the infamous Malley’s Restaurant. Good non-nonsense food, that tastes exactly as it should in the diner it’s in. I think breakfast here is better than most places downtown.

Mike’s Café is a simple and nice diner on 1st Street in Livermore. It’s a stark contrast to some of the trendy and hip establishments along 1st Street, and I like that. It has an old school diner feel to it, complete with a town mural painted on the wall, and the food is pretty good. I had the waffle, bacon, and eggs this morning. Ordering eggs over easy is always a roll of the dice around here because you never know what you’re going to get, but it was no issue at Mike’s. I should have ordered the bacon well done as it was a little limp for my liking, but I fault myself for not specifying. The coffee was a nice medium blend, consistent with diner or doughnut shop coffee. They had three servers that walked the floor almost constantly, kept my cup full, and were very helpful and responsive. If you’re visiting and planning a morning on 1st Street, I recommend stopping in to Panama Red, having your first cup of coffee, and then walking right across the street to Mike’s for your bacon and eggs(or pancakes, waffles, omelettes, skillets, etc.). The prices are very reasonable — my breakfast was $ 9.95. I look forward to returning and trying other items on the menu.

Service was fine, food was not, everything was bland and I hate doing this but I had to send 2 plates back that weren’t what we asked. When sending back we did not get a friendly response which is fine. For me the biggest issue was the food it just wasn’t good at all. I hardly ate from my plate and same with the rest of our party. I won’t be returning.

Stopped in here for breakfast and wasn’t impressed with the quality of service nor the food. I ordered an egg Benedict and the eggs were completely over cooked. Wouldn’t come back here at all.

Best corned beef hash this side of the Rockies. Server accommodated my request for extra crispy. Service 5 Quantity 5 Quality 5 Better than country waffles. But they are good too…

Excellent little café in old downtown Livermore. Food was good, service quick and very professional. Give it a try, it’s worth it.

Family run, simple diner. I’ve been here a few times. A lot of regular customers. Breakfast is pretty good. The coffee is middle of the road diner coffee. The prices were fair and the service was friendly. If you watch a lot of Food Network, this might not be your thing but if you want decent diner food in downtown Livermore, this is your spot.

I have recently been accused of using the word«Meh» too much in reviews to describe just OK eateries. I would probably use it ALLOVER this review. We came in on a Friday morning for some breakfast, and nothing stood out,. The Hasbrowns were probably the best things on the plate — the eggs, toast and bacon we’re all — that dirty word! My friend hated his coffee, and I had to ask a couple times for water. In a busy restaurant I’d give them a break, but I think we were the only people in the whole restaurant. Not a terrible diner, would eat here in a pinch, but with a main street that seems to rival most when it comes to restaurants, I foresee this place getting crushed by someone who decides to put out a killer breakfast.

Tried it for the first time today. Love the feel of a small-town diner /café type place. The food came quickly and tasted fine, nothing amazing. Service was friendly, but you have to ask them to refills or things you need, they don’t come to your table and ask how everything is. We would recommend the Country Fried steak and egg plate– my husband said it was very tasty. I would not recommend the French toast. It was small and lacked flavor– just tasted like bread and egg.
