Realized it is not«real» Japanese sushi restaurant as soon as I saw menu and I was disapointed a bit. Probubly Korean owned… If you are not a foodie person just wants to get quick sushi bite, will be a good place. Menu, Too much«spicy» rolls… which you never see on menu at real Japanese sushi restaurant. Service was good but inside the restaurant had a quite smell also… Not sure I am going back…

Tried it for the first time. My wife ordered the lion king and I the bento box. Both were very good. A lot of food for a good price. Service and atmosphere are great. Will definitely go back.

First time I ever walked into a sushi restaurant and it smelling like Fisherman’s Wharf. It wasn’t objectionable, but noticeable, and can’t help but think there’s some fish rotting in the garbage behind the counter. Not very Japanese. My rolls were good and beautifully prepared. My main complaint is that the young male server never checked in on us and had to be asked repeatedly to bring us one round of refills for our hot tea. Even after the bill arrived we were still waiting for our tea. No apology for it being forgotten. Unacceptable.

For a $ 11.95 bento box dinner, not only was it cheap but it came with a lot of items. I would definitely come back again when I am in the area. Servers are nice and food is very delicious.

Big fan of this newly revamped restaurant in downtown Livermore. The fish is as fresh as it gets — I mean, melt in your mouth incredible. Go for their daily happy hour which is 4:30 — 6:30. Sushi, sashimi, you name it, there’s a ton of things to choose on their happy hour menu at amazing prices for the quality you get. The wait staff are very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is warm and styled appropriately. And it’s within walking distance to other fabulous bars and dessert spots in Livermore.

I usually go to Wasabi Bistro but since we were in downtown I thought we’d give this place a shot. Boy were we let down, the service was lacking and the food just didn’t taste fresh. If you want good fresh Sushi it’s best you go else where!

If you are a fan of Amakara, one of their former sushi chefs is now the owner. The sushi is creative fresh and super yummy. The service is 10 times BETTER than Amakara. Our server actually made eye contact and was easy to wave over if we needed something… HINTHINT Amakara! We will definitely return to Roppongi Sushi.

Great experience! We were seated immediately on a busy Friday night. We were 2 hungry women and ordered 5 rolls, yes 5. and ate it ALL, included an order of edamame. Service was very fast, in fact I couldn’t believe how fast our food came out, and all at once. We ordered a few rolls with soybean paper, which I prefer over seaweed. Some places so not give you that option, so I was happy about that. The menu is a bit lengthy and some pages were redundant. If you don’t know what to order it may take you some time to figure out. Our waitress guided us and I did appreciate the picture men, so you can see every roll.(Side note: I felt the menus were sticky and dirty — kinda gross!) Otherwise, we had a great experience on our girls night out! Street parking and lot parking available. We’ll be back!

What a hidden gem Rappongi is! After having tried every sushi place in Dublin/Pleasanton and Kaki and Amakara being my favorites, thought we’ll try Rappongi in Livermore. And what do I say… Rappongi is simply awesome. Fantastic quality of high end fish, great presentation and amazing service! This place is definitely A+ in my books. Rappongi junior and Hot Ninja 2 are what we ordered and were very impressed! Will definitely be back again weekly!

We have been coming here since they opened so when I walked in and found out Justin was no longer the owner I was nervous. Buutttt… everything is still amazing! Food, services, prices are all still the best! We will miss Justin but we are excited to see what Mark comes up with!

Roppongi has always been our favorite sushi restaurant, but with the new administration, it is even more … this is the best sushi restaurant in town, the rolls are perfectly proportioned(before the rolls were too big), My husband and I are happy and we recommend it. Congratulations to the new owners! They deserve 5 stars !!!

Fantastic! I just moved to the area a week ago. After eating here tonight, I am sad because I feel like I’ve been missing out by not coming here sooner. I’ll be back tomorrow!

Good sushi spots are hard to come by. When you find a good one. Its hard to leave the place. Ive been a patron of Roppongi sushi since the 1st owners. The newest owners Marc and ellen are the most sweetest and caring people in the sushi game. When i found out the last owner sold over. I was very unsure of this place. But Marc and his staff showed me nothin has changed. I will still get the great customer service and quality of fresh fish in the tri valley. Go to Amakara in Dublin and pay 100 $ bill when you can get the same quality and better service at Roppongi for a way lower price. By my standards i can come to Roppongi 5 days, get great service and great food.

I was so disappointed about my first experience at this place. I went there during a happy hour time and I ordered a ramen. It surprised me when the ramen came because it is not ramen at all, it’s just cooked by package noodle from the Chinese market which is like $ 0.3 per pack. As I tried to talk to the server about this noodle, all I got was«that is our ramen.» It’s ridiculous that a Japanese restaurant can’t provide a Japanese traditional ramen and deny the fact. Poor place and I will definitely never go there again.

First time here. Ate agedashi tofu. Very good. Garlic edamame. Fresh oysters. Nabe udon. Sashimi. And beef short rib. They were all really good and tasty. And the bill was only $ 60s… 4 of us are way too full and happy… Server was very friendly… Our new spot now! Nyam nyam!!!

The sushi rolls are big, but they’re so loosely wrapped that they fall apart as soon as you pick them up! I got the spider roll, and every single piece crumbled apart as I was eating it, which I’ve never encountered anywhere else. After that, it’s weird to eat, because you’re just scooping it up with chopsticks and trying to enjoy the individual parts. It’s not at all like eating sushi. It’s like eating sushi ingredients that someone threw in a mixer. My friend got an item with fish bones in it, right away in the first few bites. He picked some out, but didn’t want to eat the dish anymore. He showed the server the bones and asked that it be taken off the bill. Not only did they refuse, but they insisted that most dishes were supposed to have fish bones in them. Umm, I don’t think so. I’ve certainly never encountered this issue anywhere else. He felt uncomfortable and ended up paying for an item he didn’t even eat. All in all, not that pleased with the experience, and will probably just continue to go to one of the other sushi places within walking distance.

Went here for the first time recently, sushi was good. And HUGE. We got an assortment of rolls and Edamame, when I told our very nice server it was our first time and as part of our order we wanted a California roll(for my bf) she told us «no, you get that next time». She did it in such a way that it was really funny and we immediately got good vibes from the restaurant. I asked her for a suggestion and we got the Fat Boy Roll. When she read the order back she said, that’s a lot! Again– we were joking around so it was funny. Then we got our food. Holy cow, she was not kidding. The rolls are easily 25% bigger in circumference than most places. The Fat Boy roll had so much fish on top, which makes it a great deal– would definitely get that again but would order half the amount of food! I look forward to returning and trying their happy hour specials. Good sushi, very friendly staff.

I’ll confess, I’m not a sushi connoisseur and like my sushi fairly tame. That being said, I loved this restaurant. My cousin and I split the Crunch(shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, crunch, unagi sauce & white wasabi sauce) and it was great. With the miso soup and salad, we were stuffed. My cousin’s daughter had the Dragon Roll(shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, rolled with unagi, avocado, tobiko, green onion, unagi sauce & macadamia nuts) and it was so large she couldn’t finish it. My daughter had the Veggie Fantasy(assorted vegetable tempura, rolled with avocado & mango salsa) and it was a work of art. We really enjoyed the food and when the bill came we were surprised at what a great value this restaurant is. It’s small, the décor is simple and in good taste with beautiful hardwood floors. You almost miss it when you are walking down First Street. We will be back!
