Just had dinner here. The food is ok with the tea duck very tasty but the Peking duck tasteless and lots of fat under the skin. What grossed me out was the restroom! Reminds me of Chinatown restaurants! Granted the restrooms are shared with other tenants in the same building but this is what your patrons have to use. And to think that the cooks and servers use these too!

too expensive. but definitely very good. best value is the lunch items, although they are creeping up in price to the point where I won’t go anymore… used to be the best $ 10 lunch in town. Anyhow, main point… very good chinese food.

The one star is for customer service. I called yesterday 2⁄17 and talked to Westly to make a reservation for 10 people for today at noon. My group got there and there was no reservation for them. On returning from their lunch, the group expressed their disappointment that there was reservation. I called the restaurant and the gal that answered was very rude and was so confused and tried to tell me there was a reservation when there was not. She kept calling me Tracy and Sarah and said yes the reservation was made under blah blah phone number, I told her, no that is not my name or phone number and she rudely said, well your group got a table. When we give this amount of business to this restaurant, I don’t think we should be treated this way. Just remember Uncle Yu’s…word of mouth is important for business and the Lab is a big bulk of your business.

This place is probably the best Chinese in Livermore, but thats not saying much. They do have a very extensive wine selection for a Chinese restaurant, and I suspect that that is a very strong component of this restaurants appeal, along with the nice/clean décor. Overpriced menu for the quality and for most items the portions are on the smaller side, especially compared to what you can get in neighboring Dublin. They do NOT use the traditional amounts of Chinese spices in the dishes– if you are looking for Traditional Chinese heat levels, look elsewhere. Beef with aged orange peel was very good, and decent portion size. Crispy Spicy Fish Fillets were pretty good as well. The Special Beef Fried Rice is tasty. The Prawns with Honeyed Walnuts is a joke– 6 medium sized prawns for $ 18?! Are you kidding me? You can get better quality in larger portions in DOZENS of restaurants in SF, Dublin, Millbrae, San Jose… this is the BAYAREA come on folks! Realize we have many options available to us, do not accept mediocrity/poor value. The flavor profiles of the food here overall is well executed Americanized Chinese. If you seek more authentic flavors go to Dublin, or better yet go to SF. You can get better food for half the price. Being a Livermore resident I find myself going here when I am too lazy to drive to Dublin but when I have that craving for authentic flavors, I go to Dublin or the San Francisco peninsula.

Simply the best Chinese food in the East Bay. Right up there with Chef Chu’s in Los Altos. The quality and freshness of the ingredients is apparent in all of their dishes. We naturally have our favorites but every time we’ve tried something new it’s been excellent and we’ve left happy. Service is also fantastic. Prices aren’t cheap but for a special occasion it’s worth every penny.

Absolutely Phenomenal ! Tried them for the first time and all of us loved it. Great flavors in every dish we had. My wife is very picky about Chinese cuisine and she loved each dish. Mongolian beef, spicy shrimp string beans were all perfect. This was a great find! Calamari dish was great to with the mouth watering sauces they make for the different dishes this place will be hard to pass up when we’re in the mood for Chinese.

This Uncle Yu’s location is really quite spectacular. Sure you might end up spending a bit of $$$ between their upscale fare and HUGE wine list but the service and food has never disappointed!

Uncle Yu’s is a very good restaurant and one where we regularly dine. Uncle Yu’s is more of an elegant spot than a source for comfort food. The menu is varied. Dishes are prepared with care and care is taken to present them in an aesthetically pleasing manner. We enjoy the seafood soup. The salads are interesting and always impeccably fresh. Entrees are distinguished by the tasty sauces that accent them. My wife is particular fond of the green tea duck. For dessert our favorite is the hazelnut torte. Prices are on the high side at Uncle Yu’s. Without wine but with soup, salad, & desert the check for two can easily reach or exceed $ 100. However, we expect to pay $ 25 to $ 35 an entrée at a fine dining restaurant. The wait staff is unfailingly friendly & courteous. Some wait staff are better informed than others as to the menu. I’m a pesco-vegetarian(I eat fish & dairy products but not other types of meat). When I ask if items are meat-based, the waiters most often need to check with the chef. With some of our visits we’ve had some long waits either to receive our food or waiting to get our bill. We gotten courteous apologies and, in one instance, a free desert. Those kinds of issues have occurred more than once. Overall, Uncle Yu’s is a very, very good place to eat and we recommend it. Except for some issues with table service it would rate 5 stars.

This place was really good! Not too crowded on a Saturday at lunch time. Service was friendly and patient with my loud indecisive family. The food tasted really good: green beans, kung po, broccoli beef, chow mein w/pork, lemon chicken, chinese chicken salad & sweet and sour soup. Yum!

My new favorite place to dine! Met up with my aunt from out of town, we were both starving and opted to come here for lunch. Very beautiful restaurant and I guess you could say romantic atmosphere, will have to come back some day with the fiancé. Our waiter was super cheerful, and helpful. Aunt was in search of egg rolls or spring rolls with pork, sadly they did have anything, we went with potstickers instead. We were quickly served some of the most amazing hot and sour soup I’ve ever had, soon after our lunch arrived. I got the Mongolian beef, aunt got the lemon chicken. Beef was tender, juicy and served with plenty of fried rice. Lemon chicken was crisp with just the right amount of sauce and heap of chow mein. We agreed, everything was absolutely delicious. Walked away from here full and happy

Uncle Yu’s met every expectation we had when hosting our wedding rehearsal. When we were location shopping, first of all the location is perfect, ample parking and has a very impressive ambiance. We booked the private banquet room(50 capacity, 5 tables of 10) about 3 months before the rehearsal dinner and the process was easy. A simple call, they took my info and followed up with me 30 days prior, then 2 weeks prior and then 3 days prior(food package choice, menu items, final confirmations). Our guests complimented the restaurant, and food. It was excellent! They were plenty of left overs which we were able to take home. They were accommodating with all of our requests, service was fantastic and the servers were friendly. Their bar was fully stacked and drinks were made perfectly. One touch is when we did a speech, toast and addressed our guests, our servers/hosts did not hesitate to give us privacy, close off the room and dim the lights. They didn’t a great job in letting us have have that private moment. We couldn’t have picked a better place for our wedding rehearsal.

My daughter and I had lunch today to celebrate her birthday. The atmosphere is beautiful and tranquil, the service is excellent!!! Food is absolutely delicious, very fresh and the presentation was magnificent. The staff made sure we had everything we wanted, even treating us both to dessert. Owner Sunny & Bartender/Waiter Ian provided us with SUPERIORSERVICE!!!

I can recall all my past lives, and cinch, I’ve rarely had Chinese cuisine as splendid as it is here. I didn’t have any wine, which I’m sure is divine, but I could smell it three tables over. HOT&SOURSOUP as a starter is such a cliché, but when the taste is reinvented, when every strain is organic, a scorcher of rich taste, then you gotta do it. WILDPRAWNS aren’t crazy, they are big and hearty and so awesomely good. TEASMOKEDDUCK has that great stylishly smokey taste without it tasting out of the woods gamey, no, this is art. CHOWMEIN is fiendishly slurpy but mashed with meat and herb-powered Zen. Jasmine tea, lemonade, the smell of wine, water, water with ice cubes… it all goes together with any dish. Uncle Yu, oh please, never let me go. And please don’t mind if I call you Uncle Boom, and I call you that because I can hear you calling me to come back. I will. #emotional

This was fantastic food, but the slow and inattentive service drowned it out. We went for dinner during the Finals, when local team Golden State was playing. It looked as though they were a little slow as a result(in fact, we had a long crazy weekend, and were looking for a quieter place — so that worked out). However, as the meal went on, I think they may have sent too much staff home. It appeared that our server(although super friendly) was also bartending. Right off the bat, we sat around waiting for a server for several minutes. I started with water, with the intent to order wine with dinner. Too bad the server never really followed up with that. After(finally) bringing drinks, she did a good job getting our appetizer order. I thought we were on our way to recovery. But, then, we never really saw her again until the appetizers were out. Then, it was a quick order of dinner. No mention or opportunity to order wine with my meal. She did not do very good with cleaning our appetizer plates, and I seem to recall someone else ran our food. Never got to order wine, and often had to flag down other people to get water and iced teas refilled. Overall service was below a 2. To be fair, the girl was super nice and friendly, but I think they were way too short, and she did a poor job as a result. The food here was fantastic. I am not sure I would label it as «fusion» but it was definitely a twist on traditional Asian food. I rate the food a solid 4+. Overall, I would definitely return and Uncle Yu a second chance. The service seemed to be an isolated incident, and not a reflection of poor attitudes or employee morale. Despite that, I cannot give them anything better than a 3.

This place was delicious! They have great lunch specials around $ 10. It was clean and classy inside. The food wasn’t too salty for a Chinese restaurant. Great ambiance!

********************* 1308 ********************** Probably 1 of the nicest restaurants in downtown Livermore, fine dining Chinese, modern décor, spacious, and a nice bar. Great wine list for the area, cocktails, and Dim Sum during lunch service. Dinner is more extensive menu. Michelle the hostess was very nice to us, and seated us at a nice table. Our server was wonderful as well and attentive to us. I enjoyed the Seafood Delight, BBQ pork bun, and Crab Salad a lot. I will definitely come back soon.

I can’t remember when I’ve had food this good. On a lark, a friend of mine and I drove over to Livermore, as we were visiting the Bay Area. We walked around for a little bit, saw several restaurants, and settled on Uncle Yu’s for lunch. Oh my! What a great place to try. The jasmine tea was just the right temperature. The cheese puffs were OUTOFTHISWORLD! I had the seafood soup, which was very light and tasty. My dining partner had General Tso’s chicken. It was THEBEST General Tso’s I’ve ever had. It’s not breaded. It’s cooked and seasoned to perfection. The sorbet in white chocolate is a light dessert that is to die for. Service was excellent. The place is nicely decorated and very clean. LOVEIT!!!
