We went there as a family on Fathers Day. The food was awful, the décor is out dated and the place was filthy. As I sat there looking around all I could see was dirt build-up which means that it’s been there a long time. For a family of 5 our breakfast was $ 60 for pancakes and omelette stat we didn’t eat. Livingston is such an upscale town and the diner needs to keep up.

Breakfast here with co-workers was surprisingly good! I am the type of person to special order many things due to a weight watchers diet, and our waitress was incredibly accommodation and gave me no trouble at all. She happily subbed my potatoes and toast for strawberries and bananas, and everything came out fresh and delicious. My egg white omelette was filled with fresh veggies and was piping hot. Just wish they were a little more attentive on refilling my hot water. All in all, a great diner!

I’d give this place negative 5 stars if I could. We were just eating brunch and catching up leisurely, and the owner lady took our plates away and said«you’ve been sitting here too long.» Who does that? She’s a nasty person. I’m writing this review in the hope that she reads this and learns to show better manners to her customers. We still left a good tip because it wasn’t your waitress ‘s fault. When I had more time, I read other reviews of this place and other patrons have posted the rudeness of the spikey blond hair lady whose name is apparently Marion. She’s the same person who treated us so rudely. Oh yeah, I’m going to name names.

Food is nothing special. Mediocre at best diner food. The hostess was gruff to say the least and the waitress was worse. My wife ordered the eggs, which came with a side of toast and hash browns, and a side of 2 pancakes. The waitress came over with just eggs and pancakes, and said that she was doing us a favor since it was cheaper. Uh, thanks, but that’s not what we ordered, we conveyed. So she begrudgingly went back to the kitchen and brought out a side of toast and huge plate of hashbrowns. When we got the bill, we werent charged for the items we ordered, but were charged for seperate items as if we ordered ala carte, which was about $ 5 more than our original order. We pointed this out to her, and she begrudgingly went back to the kitchen/manager to have it fixed and was rather unpleasant about it. There’s too many decent diners in the area to give this place another try. Go somewhere less crowded for a better meal.

I love this diner. I’ve been coming here for 30 years. Don’t listen to the kvetchers.(The home fries here are the best in the world. Prove me wrong! I’ve searched the galaxy for better and came up short.) This diner is… awesome.

I’m not sure why this place is packed? There are so many better choices in the area to eat. Things that stink about Ritz: The Service(talk about low level employees) The décor(has not been updated since 1992) It feels dirty when you walk in there. The front end staff(talk about least friendly) The food(gross) The price(over priced) Honestly save your time, money, and frustration.

Highly unusual seating practices Rude bus boys The smallest«large» drink size ever Sub-standard food This place is a dump. ‘Nough said… but so packed all the time. Maybe they’re perceived as the only deal in town? Idk… smh. The Waitress was kinda nice though…

This is a great diner. It has great food and the wait isn’t long! I think you should get chocolate pancakes and hot coco. I hope you have a spectacular time!!!

Worst Tuna Melt I ever had… And the French Onion Soup was made with mozzarella cheese and barely melted. It was so disappointing– since they are so proud of Guy Fierri’s show visiting them. I have no idea why they highlighted this place on his show. Food was horrible. I tried to get a slice of the«famous» Apple pie to go on the way out and the woman who was seating people(must have been owner or manager) was sooooo rude to me, I just walked out. What a disgusting experience!

The ritz is amazing. And any livingston native that says otherwise is lying. It’s a diner at its core. A HUGE menu, old style décor, waitresses that sometimes have bad nights, and homestyle good tasting food. Sure, it isnt a five star taste but that’s not why you go to the ritz. You go because it’s nostalgic, because you probably spent your childhood there and countless high school nights. Or you took your kids, grandkids, after a band concert. Like I said, it’s a diner, what do you expect? It’s a place to get disco fries and catch up. If you’re looking for an at home feel then you can’t find any place better than the ritz.

I simply don’t know why I continue to come here, aside from the fact that it’s local. Other than Marion’s chopped salad, I can’t think of a single draw to this diner outside of any other local joint. The service is disinterested. The décor is dated and poorly upkept. The establishment simply doesn’t feel clean. Not a fan.

As far as diners go, this is one of the better ones. Great baked items as well. Their cannolis are better than most Italian bakeries! My wife and I love their Nova Platter. Toasted bagel with cream cheese and lox along with veggies. Delicious! Good coffee too. The last time I was there however the guy at the cash register seemed more interested in talking on his cell phone than running the register. Very unprofessional.

A lot of people I know rave about the Ritz and it is always packed with locals, but I really don’t understand the hype. I’ve been here about a dozen times and have never been impressed. The food is alright, but definitely nothing to write home about and certainly not worth the higher than average cost. The diner is pretty dated and is definitely showing so. The employees have always been pleasant which is nice and appreciated. I really want to like this place but I just haven’t been able to yet.

The Ritz was always a reliable spot for food since I was a little kid. Their menu is never ending and has everything and anything you could possibly want. They’re known for their apple pie, it’s delicious. Sure, it’s not the best food ever, but you have to remember it’s a diner. Aside from that everything I’ve ever had has always been enjoyable. It’s a great spot for any meal of the day, it’s quick and it’s casual.

We were seated very quickly for a Sunday. I had the combo wrap lunch special that came with a bowl of chicken noodle Mazoh ball soup. The other person in my party had a bacon cheeseburger deluxe. The Mazoh ball was excellent! The wrap was good. The veggies inside were sliced paper thin and it was served with a white balsamic dressing that was surprising good The bun for the bacon cheeseburger was a home made bun and you can tell. It was really good. I didn’t get to try the apple pie, something they are known for from TV, but I will next time I come. Service was super friendly and got a bigger tip because of it.

I like The Ritz Diner. I really do. It’s a Livingston institution and I eat there regularly. My sister and niece would argue the point. They LOVE the Ritz Diner. Whenever my niece comes home from college she always makes it a point to go there and they live about 25 miles away, which translates into about 50 diners that are closer to them. So why the Three Stars? Several reasons: 1. Very limited healthy breakfast choices. No fruit/yogurt/granola, no steel cut oatmeal. 2. No Equal, just Sweet & Low. Ummmm, 1971 is calling and they want their sweetener back. Hate Sweet & Low. Always have even when there were no other choices. And at the Ritz, there are no other choices. No Equal, no Splenda and no Steevia which claims to be healthy but sucks. 3. Bathrooms are in desperate need of renovation. Even when new, they were nothing great and but now they’re down right pitiful. Demerits aside, the food is quite good and varied, as it should be in any quality diner. Desserts are superb. Staff is friendly and attentive. And like I mentioned, I do eat there with some degree of frequency but I avoid them breakfast time, which really should be a diner’s strongest meal. Or maybe not, who knows.
