Golden China

Very rude service… The food is good, but the lady who served us was rude. Demanded a tip after the food was already $ 60. And then gave one of my guest at my table water with soda in it. Poor service… Good food.

It’s sad because this place used to be one of my favorite places when Grace was here. Yesterday they lost my business forever though. I called to make a to go order. The women who answered the phone never even said hello, just «what can I get you?» I said back «house chicken, and sizzling rice soup please.» She then yells back at me with incredibly angry tone «what you want you talk to fast!» Now I realize there is a language barrier, but she could have gone about telling me to repeat myself 100 different ways. I then told her I thought she was extremely rude with her tone and how she went about it. She wouldn’t even apologize or remotely admit what she did was wrong. I said I’ve been a customer for years, but she could of cared less. If she would of just apologized I would of accepted that and made my order, but instead I told her I will never do business with them again and hung up. Grace was such a nice lady, she may of came off as cold but it was just because of the language barrier. She remembered my order every time, and always was so nice about asking how I have been. This place has been in business a long time, but if something isn’t done they will close.

This place is easy to miss – tucked away in the strip mall next to what used to be Pizza Works on East Turner Road. I never knew it was there despite passing it almost daily for years. But we went there today based on a recommendation. Had lunch inside, and we were waited on immediately even though the room was nearly full at the noon hour. Food arrived promptly. Big portions, robust flavor, modest price. The waitress was cordial with us as well as with other diners who were present. However, she never checked on us after bringing the food; something you might expect in just about any restaurant – but we actually never needed any followup service, so it’s not worth knocking off a star. The experience was first-​rate in all respects. We’ll be repeat customers.

Hot and sour soup and house chow mein with lots of vegetables are good — and enough for two to share. Asked for hot mustard on the phone and when I picked up my order it wasn’t in the bag so I asked for some. The lady said «Why you need that?» I told her because I like it on my chow mein. Never a hi, good-​bye or thank you, let alone happy new year. (And it’s not a language barrier.)

First off I miss Grace the new lady is totally not nice and completely rude.
Food was good the 3 of us all had different items
Hot and sour soup good flavor it’s my favorite soup
Sweet and sour pork — was good but I’m generally not a fan
Pork fried rice — good flavor not overly salty like some I’ve had.
Over all service was lacking she didn’t check on us at all. Brought us the bills and boxed the food and that was that .
Food is always good can’t complain

Wish I could actually leave a review. Went here during regular business hours and no one was there!!! This was really disappointing. Maybe I’ll try again sometime.

Awesome food at a great price. I got the kung pao shrimp lunch special. The container was packed with food and it tasted great!

We been going to Golden China for 10 years. Mostly take out because we have 4 kids and that’s easiest for us. I was just checking out the reviews because I’m actually heading there shortly to pick up an order and wanted to see what people wrote about Grace (my husband and I had a net going). She’s a nice lady despite the reviews about her being rude… Kinda reminds me of the soup nazi. One time my husband asked for miso soup, by accident. We normally get wonton but I’m normally the person that orders so it was just a mistake. Ha — Anyway, she asked him what miso soup was and went on for a good minute about miso. Anyway, this is the only Chinese we do in Lodi. Probably would do better on sot downs with better ambience. Either way it’s our family favorite!!!

The food is fantastic, not greasy as reported by some other reviewers. Grace is the lady at the counter most days. She speaks English but is not confident in it. The language barrier is probably why some think she is rude. I have been visiting this place for almost 2 years. It is a quick and tasty lunch spot and the ONLY Chinese food in the area I can get my husband to eat. All four of my kids are fans. I would give Golden China a 5 star except that I wish it was a little updated. A better entry could do wonders for this otherwise perfect place.

I give the food 4stars and the service 3. The lady up front is always rude. She is just an angryblady but i find her cute for some reason so I’m never rude back to her. The mingolian beef and the chicken chowmein are so good though. I always take out so I’m not sure if the service is good there or not but if you are ever craving chineese take out this is the place to go!

Old lady is rude! Never coming here again! Horrible service and horrible food! Came in sitting with my friends who were ordering and I said I didn’t want anything then goes «oh forget it» take your money to Panda Express!

This is not the first time the old lady taking orders in front is hella rude. Is she going thru menopause or something? Never coming here again. Food is good tho.

The foods really good unless your getting almond chicken. They gave us peanut chicken. The lady at the front Grace or whatever her name is, she is not nice at all. I don’t even like talking to her she’s so rude. If you want to get food make sure you know what you want before you go in she hates when you take time to look at time menu. Do not ask if you can substetute anything because she will tell you no and do not DO NOT DINE IN she waited on us last time and it was the worst experience ever. I only come here because the food is very good.

My favorite Chinese food in lodi by far. While some say it’s «dripping with grease» it is the least greasy Chinese I have ever had. Super cheap for how much food you get. I love their egg flower soup (eat in only) and their Mongolian beef. Customer service can be poor however and the atmosphere isn’t very appealing which is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars, but this isn’t a problem if you’re getting take out! 5 stars for take out, 4 for eating in.

I love this place. Grace is the best. Try the lunch specials. Super cheap and a lot of food. My favorite is the Mongolian chicken. I think they have Mongolian beef on the lunch menu, but you can ask for chicken…“No problem” per Grace

Cons: everything lol I have been here twice nd this last time I was here, the only reason I went was because I was starving: p. First problem with this place is their costumer service Oh my God they sooo rude nd No smiles, I felt like their costumers don’t matter to them, Second the food is super super greasy I order a few egg rolls and they were dripping in grease Oh yeah nd for take out orders they don’t provide napkins or forks so u mite want to grab a fork nd napkins from ur house before you go here lol. Third and major problem with this place is that the food will give u stomach cramps so stay away, oh yeah nd their food is not very tasty ;p
I will never, ever ever come back here even if I’m starving to dead like I was today:)

This place sucks i went here two time the first time i got sick and the 2^nd time i got the runs. Never again will i go here again.

I agree with Jose, avoid the prawns at all costs.
Other than that, Golden China has the most robust Chinese Food in the greater Lodi area. That doesn’t mean its a must –see, but they’re still above average.
The Mongolian Beef has a nice kick to it. The curry-​flavored Singapore chow mein was a hit-​or-​miss; however, I was in the minority among my group by not liking it.
For the price, they really pile on the food. I mean reallllllly. They give you a vast cardboard box to carry it in. Bring an Olympic weightlifter with you if you pick up your order.
Overall not bad, but for Chinese food a cut above the rest, a trip to the Bay Area would be required.

I love Golden China! The food is served quickly and seasoned really well, i love the pork fried rice and chowmein. The best in the Lodi and stockton area in my opinion

Holy crap they need to make this a fast food joint. Then again as soon as you walk in it looks like fast food joint but go into the room to your left for a sit down meal. Our food was done within five minutes of ordering! I ordered the lemon chicken lunch special which was nice and lemony, just the way I like it. I can never seem to find a place that makes lemon chicken to taste like lemon! They gave me a ton of rice, kinda hoping they gave me more chicken than rice. My husbands food looked pretty good, I think he had chow mein with fried rice and fried garlic friend chicken. The service was prompt and we were greeted right away.
–2 stars for their nasty bathroom. Can someone come in here with some Ajax and a toilet scrubber please?
