I don’t know what everyone is so excited about; this place is like a watered down Subways.

First of all ingredients were fresh but sadly not plentiful. Felt kind of like I was back in a subways. The hero was mostly bread. Even the lettuce was sparse and tomatoes paper thin. The 8 inch VITO did not have much substance or flavor and I left hungry. Bleh.

Company of two words– never good. Called @ 3:03& asked if the customer appreciation day’s dollar per sub deal is over. The guy said it’s good for another 10 min or more. Arrived @ 3:15. No more deal, no apologies. The guy at the cash register says it HASBEENOVER since 3:00– before I even left for the store. Why tell someone to come in for a deal that no longer works by giving false hopes? I wouldn’t have driven here since there are plenty of good sandwich shops closer by. Waste of time, money, and effort. First time here, never coming back.

I just read the reviews for this place and honestly I don’t understand. I came here with my daughter for a quick bite and honestly loved it. I had the # 1 «PEPE» and it was great. The bread was super fresh as was everything else. The people working there are also super friendly and I too looked for a tip jar and there was none… Definitely would go back.

I stopped here because my kitchen was in a mess due to getting new appliances. I ordered a turkey sandwich to go and it was ready so quick! The three young guys behind the counter were so courteous which is sometimes a rarity these days. And when I asked if they had a tip cup they said it was much appreciated but they don’t have one. I was impressed with the menu and the cleanliness of the store too. They also do catering which is how I learned of the store. Definitely a good lunch stop

Sandwiches for people who don’t like sandwiches. Had the Tuna, just awful. The bread was horrible and tiny too. They can never call their sandwiches«foot longs» they should call them«inch worms». They offer you chips like its a special thing. They don’t even give you a bag when you have take out. What a disappointment. This place blows. Will never eat there again. Want an edible sandwich in Hackensack? Go to Blimpie’s on Main street. Or the chit-chat diner. The worst lunch experience ever.

I loved Jimmy John’s in New Brunswick, and I love it in Hackensack now too. So glad to see this great chain spreading. Very clean restaurant, clean tasting sandwiches. I actually go here for a healthier option bc the veggie sammich is around 450 calories without mayo, and it comes with avocado spread(rare!) so you don’t even need mayo. It really is the best veggie sub you can get– I actually find myself craving it about once a week. And I’m not a vegetarian! People are complaining about the small delivery area, but that’s just bc they want to adhere to their freaky fast delivery policy. When I lived in NB, there was a Jimmy John’s in the student district. The fact that they delivered ONE sammich within 15 min of ordering was insanely convenient. In more urban areas they use bike delivery, which could be another reason for their small delivery area. Dinner for cheap, too! Pick up a «giant club sandwich» for only $ 6.50 and you’re set.

Ok, so heres an update on my earlier review. Best place ever ! I have officially eaten there over 100 times since they opened and have never let me down, Great service, friendly, and fresh food. Most of the employees have been there for quite a while which says volumes about a business. I LOVE this Place.

First of all, I’m a huge fan of Jimmy Johns: Any, all and everywhere. This is the closest thing to fast food I really get these days, but that damn beach club gets me everytime. In all the Jimmy Johns I have been to, this is by far my favorite. It’s clean, the staff is super friendly and awesome and they always make the sandwiches perfect. Plus the sprouts are always fresh. At least anytime I’ve had them. That in itself is rare.

I decided to try this place today Jimmy John’s on Essex Street in Hackensack. I was greeted by three employees behind the counter one at the register to making sandwiches there’s no one else in the restaurant that should’ve been my first sign. I ordered the big John, What a joke! I took a pic of their«Big John» sub sandwich. The cashier asked me if I wanted potato chips or cookies I chose the cookie which I never got. I think there was about three pieces of roast beef on the ordinary bread some mayo a few tomatoes and a lot of S as you can see by the pic. I do not recommend this place to anyone, you’re better off going to Subway. This restaurant is just taking a dead space and I’m sure the clothes soon with the service I received in with sandwiches like that at those prices they can keep their«Big John».

Great subs that are famous from the Midwest. Was visiting friends in NYC and we drove out here because I needed an Italian Night Club. I was not disappointed; it was delicious! Management was present and helpful, and staff was friendly. Crushed ice was a huge plus!

I’m always on the hunt to find new lunch spots since I work in the area. Like another reviewer stated, their delivery radius is small despite that they will deliver even for just one sandwich. Good thing I don’t mind getting away from the office. Service is quick and pleasant. I’ve tried the Country Club on french bread and the J.J.B.L.T. on 7-grain wheat bread. *Note when ordering: all sandwiches come on french bread if you don’t specify otherwise. Made that mistake myself, as I was going by the sandwich pictures I saw online. They use Helmann’s mayonnaise, which you can’t miss as they have tubs and tubs of the stuff on display. As far as taste, I found both tried sandwiches to be a little bland. I expected the provolone to add a sharpness and the bacon to add a saltiness, but both fell short. I do prefer saltier foods, so maybe you can chalk this up to personal preference. I won’t give this place up as a lunch spot just yet, as there’s a couple more sandwiches I’d like to try. But I can say that I probably won’t be getting any JJ sandwich food cravings in the near future.

It’s really annoying when someone barges into my office unannounced and hands me a menu in hopes that we order from them. Just leave the damn things at the front desk, smile and leave. Same today with Jimmy John’s only they changed the game in a real and meaningful way. Along with the menus they brought samples. And not just samples but full fledged mini sandwiches which were really quite good. I don’t know what marketing genius concocted this plan but it was nothing short of genius. And guess what, it worked. None of the other local restaurants who we give literally thousands of dollars to each year bothers to say thank you, let alone drop off unsolicited free sandwiches. They also happened to mention that they will deliver with no minimum order. We always bring in lunch for 10 of us on a Saturday which my employer generously pays for. This Saturday we will go with Jimmy John’s based, in no small part, on their genius guerrilla marketing approach. Much thanks, My new Friends.

A Midwestern classic. Don’t expect NY deli style sandwiches, but this is way better than Subway or Blimpie. The bread and meat quality are excellent. Plus they cut the veggies fresh and slice the meats twice a day. Not to mention they are freaky fast. If you’ve never been it is worth a try.

I have ate there a few times now, simple, to the point menu… very good sandwich, fresh and the staff is very friendly and clean. Definitely a step up from the other franchise style sub shops. Reasonably priced. Will continue to eat at Jimmy John’s

First time trying them. Kind of a snooty Subway or Blimpies. Had the Lulu(turkey and bacon with lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. Nice size but found it very salty. The wife had the Italian and was surprised to find mayonnaise on it along with the oil and vinegar. Can’t say it was any better than the other sandwich shops. They say delivery for any size order but the delivery area is small. I live one block past the line on the map they have and was told corporate set the area and they could not cross it. This is stupid as I live pretty close and they could have picked up a fair amount from me and my neighbors.
