A wonderful day at Rue Claire… although there are not as many bushes what was there was just My daughters brought me here from Virginia, not a short trip, but well worth it. She welcomed us to use the lawn area to put our blanket, my daughter photographed the lavender and I did water color paintings… such a peacful day! Then my daughter paid for me to cut bunches of lavender to take with me ;-) The only thing to not receive the fifth star is we had to drive to a winery to use a restroom, and felt she could have offered to let us use one there. All and all it is well worth a trip, and I understand there is to be a lavender festival with local winneries wish it was closer and I would go!

My wife and I received a box of chocolates from Rue Claire as a gift this holiday season and they were exceptional. The chocolate bark was rich, delicious and filled with crisp nuts. In addition to the bark we received lightly spicy chocolates filled with candied ginger root. The next time we are in the Finger Lakes my wife and I made a pact to visit.

Lavender farm? What is a lavender farm? We were intrigued. Plus, they had put their business cards all over Seneca lake(wineries, and our B&B) so we stopped. Slightly weird set up, with making us basically climbing up the hill in the backyard of a house. In we walked in and met Claire. We never really got the answer to our only question, about the lavender, but she pointed out that we walked through the«field» of lavender bushes, aka about twenty of them, but they were not in season. Having learned she just opened less than a month prior, there was still some clinks to work out. Her shop was a bit of a mix of a few things. First there was a case of chocolates. Next to that there was a few keurigs that was the coffee and tea the shop offered. On the other side there was a mix of little NYC-ish shop nick-nacks. So we tried out her candy, said to be shipped in from NYC. We got 6 pieces, and the flavors sounded good. After leaving, we tried them out, and not really blown away. Just ordinary, gourmet chocolate. Still intrigued by what this lavender farm actually offers though.
