I like the Apollo Grill. My go-to order is the Greek salad with Gyros on top. The dressing is delicious and I feel like I am being healthier by not eating a regular Gyros.(like the logic?) My mom is a fan of the Greek salad with chicken. Over the years I have tried a number of entrees. The chicken dinners are also very good and I highly suggest them. The oven potatoes, sigh… I could live on them. The burgers are decent. I don’t suggest the Italian beef. I say stick to other items. The dining room is always clean, the staff is always polite. There is a tv in the dining room but I never eat there. I always order carry-out.

The food is typical but boring not very flavorful. Service is terrible every time we go there there is wait. Today it was 35 minutes. The tables were dirty, had to search for a relatively clean table. The tray return and garbage area was chuck full and there were trays and baskets piled so high it was like the game Jenga just a pile of used plates, trays and baskets waiting to topple! I asked to speak to the manager but he was busy cooking. Very short staffed, the only thing I can think of is that they’re trying to run lean.

I had a patty melt and fries. The fries were bland, the portion was larger than I expected but the taste was just not satisfying my French fry craving. The patty melt was just okay. It did t leave me fully satisfied, maybe it was bc the fries were just ok.

Great food but be prepared to wait. It may take some time to come out but once it does the food is well worth it. Apollo Burger is great as well as the greek salad. They also have an amazing sauce readily available to diners, similar to a thousand island but a little different. Each time i have been there for lunch it has been extremely busy so i would suggest placing a phone order ahead of time. Very friendly staff.

Amazing food! I haven’t actually been inside but every time I order I always enjoy. Chicken philly, chicken kabob plate, soup, chicken sandwich, everything! :)

Fries and a Reuben to go. Over all pretty good. The fries could use a little salt. I’ll try other things and be back.

I come to the Apollo for one thing– the gyros. Yes it takes a little longer than most places to serve the food, but you’ve come here to sit down anyway. Back to the gyros– definitely the best in the area I’ve had, and the main source of my 4 star rating. Sauce is on the thinner side, fries just ok. The place is really clean!

I typically get the gyros or a burger here. The gyro is probably the best in the area. The burgers are also very tasty as well. Occasionally I go for the cheese fries which are also very good. I would give this place 5 stars however the service isn’t the best. On average it’s about 10 min wait for your meal and the front cashiers aren’t the friendliest. Like I said the food was great and I will continue to come here. The whole point of a review is to post the pros and cons right?

Food was okay, but the speed of service the two times I went there were glacially slow. I don’t think they get the concept of «Fast Food». It should not take ten minutes to prepare a freaking Chili-Dog.

Ive been going to this spot since they’ve opened and I have nothing but great things about this spot. The apollo burger is on par with portillios, the chicken cesar salads are the best in the chicago land area(not kidding). The gyro sandwiches are great. The owner is also a really nice person, which makes it even better.

Apollo Grill seems like a typical burgers and gyros joint, but I am always so pleasantly surprised with their food! For the price, you just can’t beat it. It is our go-to place when we have family in town that want a quick bite, and they are always very complimentary about their meals as well. I’m actually quite surprised to see that other reviewers have had bad experiences with the food. I’ve had a variety of items off of the menu, and have to say that I have never once had a complaint with the food. When I’ve been in and they’re slammed with orders, I’ve had to wait a bit(never more than 10 minutes), but I always get more food than I anticipated and a much higher quality. Food is never greasy, and even the soup and salads are excellent. The restaurant itself is very spacious and always clean. The staff has always been courteous as well. Thumbs up!

I like to support local rwstaurants over fast food chains, but this was awful. Fries have no taste, my burger is all fat and looks like poor grade meat… for $ 8 for burger and fries I expected more…

My favorite burger place and all because of their special sauce. I put it on everything I get there.

There are no hanging plants, very disappointed. Also, I don’t see Apollo Creed anywhere. 3 stars for steak sandwich and giant krinkle cut fries

I love this place! Apollo used be located in Bensenville when I was growing up. I was so bummed when they closed but about two years ago I realized they moved right down the street from my new house! All of their food is fresh, and in response to some other reviews, the food does take a little longer. Probably because it’s cooked fresh of course! They’re gyros, hot dogs, and burgers are delicious. Their special sauce it’s what’s always my favorite. The place is super clean and gets busy during lunch time. You can always call ahead to pick up. Highly recommend.

My experience did not start out on a good note. The girl at the counter did not say hi when I walked up. I had to say hi to her and she didn’t respond. My rule is if you don’t talk to me I’ll make you so I said are you having a bad day? She just asked what my order was. I ordered the gyro plate which she yelled to the cook. I then said hold the tomato which she than yelled again and the cook didn’t even look up. Two of the most crab ass people giving customer service that I’ve met in a long time. The gyro meat was fine the fries were soggy… nothing to write home about. The pita tasted like it was fried in old grease. My first and last time.

I’m surprised that this place has been open four years and I never went to it living nearby. The inside was huge although kinda dead when I went and it is bar far superior to our average gyros or hotdog stand. The Apollo burger with corned beef was great and their French fries were way better than I have had at some of these other well known joints that get featured on time out TV or those dive and dine cable programs. The building is new and there is a Starbucks and a massage place right down from this grill. A great place if not location.

Rating: 3.4÷5 Short description: Fast food grill Similar to: Typical hotdog/hamburger joint Pluses: Clean and inviting, has typical hot dogs and burgers Negatives: Not that interesting, unfortunately. Not impressed by the price. Recommendations: Yet another burger joint, lots of others to choose from.

Apollo Grill is a unique looking restaurant off of North Avenue in Lombard. The inside has a fair number of plants hanging and has a large clean dining area. They also have a fairly diverse menu with hamburgers, hot dogs and even a few pasta options. In visiting I decided to try the hot dog. The hot dog I received came on a soft poppy seed bun. It did not appear to have any celery salt or sport peppers on it but the other standard Chicago-style hot dog ingredients were present. The application of mustard, relish and onion were spot on. The pickle used was thin, but a bit on the sour side. Two nice sized slices of thin tomato were on the top of the dog covering it enough to get tomato in every bite. The wiener itself was skinless and slightly thicker than most, I don’t think it was a jumbo but it didn’t appear to fall into the realm of a stock sized dog. While service was a little on the slow side this was an excellent representation of a Chicago style hot dog and short of sport peppers and celery salt is exactly what you would expect. Fairing well above average Apollo Grill earns a solid four stars.
