Service King Collision Repair of Lombard

Impressed with customer care! Received a call from Shane and never have I seen or been treated by someone with high integrity at an auto shop!

Got in an accident in April and Allstate had my truck repaired here. Would go back — Bird kept me updated daily and did a great job repairing the truck. I would give Allstate a 0 — but service king gets a 5 from me. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

I am updating my review because there is a dark cloud over my gorgeous truck. In the last 6 months, I have had to return to Service King for 4 different damages to my truck. 2 pretty minor, 2 pretty major. I don’t want to have a body shop on speed dial, but that’s what it’s been like. The quick response to what was needed and options is exactly what I got. As soon as parts were in, I was called to schedule the work without delay. Also follow ups by text. I am so pleased with the Staff, especially «Bird» who expedited all the work. Thank you. I seriously hope to not need to go there again. I will highly recommend their service to others!!!

It was nice to be kept informed every step of the way, As a person who doesn’t know very much about the repair process, I never felt like I was clueless about what was happening behind the scenes. The service here was excellent and, more importantly, the repairs were done very well! I felt like the manager really cared about getting everything done the right way. I would definitely recommend this shop for repairs.

I have been waiting for a part that was supposedly ordered for about a month now. According to this guy Joel, the part that has been delivered to them was the wrong one and twice now they received the wrong part. This was a hose connecting to the windshield washer. How hard could this be? One delivery mistake is somewhat tolerable but 2x and until now, I still haven’t received any ff-​up on this matter. This is the worst service ever that I had ever experienced. I keep on calling them but would never receive a return phone call from this guy. You guys are dealing with cars, lifeless. Thank goodness, but what if you guys are dealing with actual people. So help us… Service King should be rated below zero!

Same problem as the guy above. RIDICULOUS. I feel that the «good hands» insurance company only uses substandard bodyshops. Companies they used to recommend that I’ve had good experiences with (Gerber and Turi) are no longer on their preferred list. My thing is, give me a reasonable estimate regarding time. It is just really sad it’s taking them so long to complete body work. Supposedly in paint but it takes over a week to paint? I understand it’s the holidays, but don’t take a job you cannot finish in a reasonable time. Easy as that. I was going to use them earlier, but they were honest that they would not be able to get to my car within two weeks. They took my dad’s car and it’s been there over three weeks. Claimed it was a parts issue, was told only a week a week earlier. I think lease will be up by the time car comes back to us. Seriously disgusted.

I’d sooner do body work in my own driveway with garbage bags and duct tape over taking my car to Sterling again. The work itself was fine, but the communication throughout the entire process couldn’t have been worse, to the point of the mysterious status of my car became a running joke with my friends. Was it being fixed? Would it be fixed? Would I ever have my car again? These questions were better asked to my Magic 8 Ball than anyone at Sterling.
Once you did actually get in contact with someone there, or they did miraculously return your phone call, it was never ending excuses about how busy they were. What still is unknown to me to this day, is why did they have no problem taking my car and letting it sit there for three weeks needing minor repairs? Why throughout the entire process wasn’t someone like, «Hey, we’re super busy, but I just called one of our other seven locations in the Chicago area and if you take it over there they’ll have it done way sooner?»
I’m a super patient and understanding kind of guy, but I can’t handle when businesses get greedy and take on more work than they can handle to the detriment of their customers and when people promise to return a phone call and don’t. Sterling is guilty of both of these things to such a ridiculous extent that it’s hard to even be mad about it, as the entire situation exceeded a threshold of such ridiculousness that you couldn’t help but laugh.
If your insurance company, like mine, recommends you take your car to Sterling… Don’t, even if you have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed.
