This is a great find! My daughter and I tried it a couple of months ago, and were so impressed… we don’t want to go to any other Japanese restaurants! The lunch deal is amazing! $ 10 for 2 selections from the lunch menu including sushi and sashimi. I love the Miso Salmon, which is so delicious and carmelized on the bottom! The tempura is so good too and the salad dressing is wonderful! Actually… everything we have ever had is delicious! We love this restaurant!

OUTSTANDING … My friend and I for lunch this week … We split a spicy tuna roll and a spicy crab roll + miso soup. The selections were all very good. «Waxing majestically,» I thought the wait staff was the best I’ve ever had REALLY!
AND … «even better» it was Happy Hour … YES !!
Last night four of us had dinner … we had edamame, miso soup, the spicy tuna roll, the spicy crab roll again + potstickers, steak teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, rice and Kirin light which is «ichiban»
As some quite fortunate say, «my new GFE» … so this be, my new favorite … ;-))

I got the poke salad and an order of uni. The poke salad was HUGE and had a mix of different fish including salmon, tuna, and yellowtail from what I could tell. The uni came on warm rice and wrapped in seaweed. The first piece was kinda bitter which was surprising, but the second piece was fantastic. The service was prompt and very welcoming. The only major complaint I have is that they did not turn on the AC on a very hot summer evening (90F). I was sweating throughout the meal.

This is a wonderful restaurant to eat all sorts of Japanese food. There are a bunch of selections of sushi to choose from and you could get udon and other delicious food. It is so worth eating at Yanagi. You’d love it.

Came for lunch this is my 4thx here. I eat sushi 3−4x per week so I need a place that my stomach can handle and so far this place seems to be it. They have great BLUE FIN TUNA & TORO. Yellowtail is very good (a bit small of portion) but tasty … My favorite roll YELLOWTAIL CILANTRO ROLL. Come for lunch or dinner. Staff was friendly and on top of it… I have been here When it’s been so crowded that it took forever but it’s worth the wait. ENJOY

I wish I could give this place 4 stars but the service did not meet my expectations. We waited almost 45 minutes to get our check once they cleared away all the plates etc. the sushi was fantastic though, but the service makes me not want to go back.

Best honey salmon roll ever. It’s not raw, contains no rice, but is fried goodness. Loved it so much, I got another order of it as a «dessert.»
I saw a lot of Unilocalers recommend the Warm Spring Roll which is a fusion take on the Vietnamese roll. I thought it was unique, spicy and good but not a fave for me.
Another surprise and our official fave roll is the Langostino Roll. This awesome roll was recommended by our really personable server.
The sushi chefs are friendly and the service was very helpful and courteous. We arrived early around 5ish and got seated at the bar.
We will definitely be back as this is one of our favorite sushi places in the South Bay.

Need go give it a Time out for a few months and see if they can figure out customer service .
Tried again 3÷13÷2016. So sad they can’t figure out the service component.

Just go and sit at the Sushi bar. Jason is probably one if the friendliest sushi chef’s you’ll ever encounter. He serves us unimaginable dishes that we would have never considered and its always delicious
This place is by far THE BEST in the south bay & fills up fast. They have a huge restaurant with extra rooms but there is always a wait on Friday night after 6:30 pm. Tommy & Jay are both very nice snd creative and create beautiful & delicious sushi but they are on the quiet side. so if you are not interested in conversation and want to order straight from the menu without any imagination sit at a table.

I’ ve dined here twice since my last review and the service was a lot better — once for lunch then again for dinner. Both times the service improved. The restaurant was busy but we didnt feel neglected like before.
The salad dressing was not as strongly wasabi-​fied. My hubby mentioned to the server how it wasn’t as spicy and she said the dressing comes pre made and has to do with the batch like it happens sometimes …? Hmm ok.
Ordered miso soup for myself and my son, totally hit the spot on a cold nite. The sushi was really good, took advantage of the Happy Hour on Sunday and tried the Hot Night Roll — it’s really good. Basically crab with tuna on top and eel sauce and panko around it for crunch. My son had tuna and salmon maki and was totally satisfied.
My rating is more for food quality and taste than service. Just be prepared to flag them down for drink refills or reorders.

Good place for sushi, especially on Mondays when most other Japanese restaurants are closed. Happy hour all day Mondays! I ordered the Spicy Salmon and Dynamite rolls that were like $ 5 and $ 7 each, pretty decent. Good service as well. The only sad part was that we tried to order a roll to go and were told we can’t. Makes sense since HH rolls are so cheap. I’m definitely coming back!

Love Yanagis. The food is always great and high quality. Their lunch specials are spot on (the bento boxes are a great deal) and they have an excellent happy hour that includes a variety of rolls and appetizers.
It’s my favorite «go-​to» Japanese restaurant in the South Bay. The rolls are all great, good portions, too. I wouldn’t say that any particular roll they have is overwhelmingly unique, though. It’s your standard California sushi/​Japanese place, but they definitely do it very well.

This place was absolutely fantastic! Stumbled upon it for date night and Sunday is all dinner happy hour! The service was pheomenal, and although they had a packed house our orders came quick.
Tried: edamame (typical, boiled and salted), heart attack (jalapeño with spicy tuna? Deep fried) cut into 4 pieces also delish. Hot night roll… so good! Red dragon nice basic roll but also very tastey, also tried the Alaska roll and energy roll… oh yeah and of course a California hand roll… not one complaint from us. all so delicious.
You can call and make a resevation, we arrived around 5:45 and still got a table but within 10 minutes there was a line. Our server was so friendly and attentice, as well as the hostess what helped out but bussing tables in between guest walking in.
The place is small and dimly lit but very nice. Not great for a huge group on a crowded night, maybe no more than 6 or so.
I would highly recommend this place and hope to visit again really soon!

Love Yanagi Bistro, this has been a welcomed addition to the city of Lomita. They have excellent lunch specials and Monday all day happy hour which has become our regular date night — Sushi Mondays.
The atmosphere is extremely friendly and casual, the servers are very quick with refills, service and getting you whatever you need or ask for.
Among our favorites are the Dynamite Roll which is a california roll with baked scallops, mushrooms and onions on top; the Heart Attack appetizer which is spicy tuna inside a baked jalapeño with spicy mayo; the Udon soup which is super flavorful and can be ordered with mixed or shrimp tempura; the Unagi pieces which are plump and a sizable serving and last but not least the Salmon Kama which is served with ponzu sauce and a slice of lemon, its baked to perfection each and every time. They have such a wide variety of menu items that you will never be disappointed with your order.

Came to Yanagi Bistro for dinner on a Friday night with great friends. Ambiance was dark but very mellow. However, the best part was the sushi — absolutely delicious! Got the Yellowtail Cilantro Roll, Rainbow Roll, as well as a Sushi Set. The quality of the sushi and fish was definitely on point! The wait staff was very attentive as well. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are even in Torrance and craving sushi. You will not be disappointed. It was absolute amazing dinner experience and I will definitely be back!

Yanagi is a very good sushi bar close to home for us. The food is very fresh & delicious. I just wish they would deliver specially that we live very close by. We don’t eat shell fish but other than that everything we tried here was amazing & over the top. We have ordered many times from here for take out if we had guests over. The portions are a bit smaller but that even makes it more delicious. The ambience of the Restuarant is great, modern & very clean. The staff is friendly & pleasant. I highly recommend this place.

Wow! The food here is very delicious! I originally wanted to write a review on the happy hour because they have a wide variety of well priced items, BUT I came here on a Friday and actually ordered things off the regular menu.
Man! The food here is delicious and fresh! Ordered the baked blue crab hand rolls, pork belly sliders, hulk roll, and salmon skin roll. Everything was very good!!! I thought the hulk roll would be too sauces and sweet but it wasn’t! I can definitely taste the soft shell crab in there! And the service was great as usual.
Awesome sushi spot and happy hour! I definitely recommend!
