My favorite mexican restaurant, which is unfortunate because I am not not a local. My husband and I went for lunch and afterwards I asked him, now admit it, that is the best chile relleno you have ever had. He said it was, and he is no spring-chick so he’s had a lot of chile rellenos over the years. Everything is cooked with care, the salsa and chips set the tone at the beginning. The service was terrific. Prices are good(value packed!), hope they never change but I think it’s been family run for many years so it might just stay the same…

Their signature burrito was very good… but I wasn’t impressed with their salsa. I was there for lunch — it wasn’t busy but service was terrible. :-/Prices were reasonable.

Two stars for a clean restaurant and very nice, friendly service. My Chile Relleno was very cakey tasting, and almost had a burnt flavor to it. Rellenos are my absolute fav thing… And this rates up there with the worst ones I ate in Georgia! That’s bad since we are in California! The rice was mush. The Tamale was ok but lacked flavor even though the menu listed it as spicy. The sauces seemed more like canned than homemade. The best part of my meal was the the beans. The Man’s Chile Colorado was equally unimpressive with what appeared to be a canned enchilada sauce. I was hoping this would be a hidden Gem; Sadly it was not. We will not be back, and do not recommend.

I was so disappointed in this place. The man enjoyed his catfish soup despite the spines, but it was dark, not very tasty, and not worth returning to me. This business is registered at the same location under many different names. Also, we both speak and understand Spanish. I felt a bit patronized that they didn’t seem to understand that they don’t have to speak English to us.

So I’ve been wanting to try to this place for a while, as it is close to my house. Where to start. The waitress was nice. We were the only table in there @ 1:00 on a Saturday. They did have a couple of to-go orders come in for pick up. I ordered the 2 plate combo, shredded beef enchilada with a carne asada taco. My carne asada meat was tough and hard in some places. The beans were my fav part of my plate, the rice was SOBLAND. My daughter ordered a torta meal and we paid $ 1.99 extra to have rice and beans for her instead of fries. We asked for a side of pico; that was an extra $ 1.50(!!) charge we were not informed of. She did not care for her meat, either. On our way out, my daughters needed to use the restroom. They went to the counter, asked the gentleman standing there(my guess is he is the owner) where they were located. First thing he said: «are you customers?» It’s crazy to me, being that we were the ONLY table in that place, you didn’t know we had been sitting in your restaurant for almost an hour. I will not be back. There are SOMANY other better Mexican joints in town.

Went back and it was good. My girlfriends carne asada taco was bland and greasy though.

This place is a hidden gem! Five of us went there over the weekend. We sat at a table. No wait. Brenda was our server and bartender. Margaritas were perfect and the food ranked up there with the best mexican I’ve ever eaten! Put it on your list when visiting wine country!

I was in the area on business and decided to give this place a try. The guacamole and chips earned 2.5 stars(they could try to serve the chips without all the grease on them) and the salsa was a solid 3. The horchata was a 0. The taste of sugar was the only flavor coming through. Yuck! As my main course, I ordered one of the«specials» that was on the white board near the entrance. Green sauce enchiladas with chicken. After the first bite all I could think was, «brought to you from the kitchen of some Gringo.» It did NOT taste like Mexican food. The sauce was from a jar or can. The enchilada filling was bland and not fresh tasting. The rice was obviously fished out of a batch of rice that had burned. It had that burned rice flavor. I tried 4 bites of this concoction before giving up. Sometime later, after I had left the restaurant, I was reminded of just how bad the food was at La Michoacana. Let’s just say I had a non standard gastrointestinal event. Save yourself and try a different Mexican restaurant if you’re in Lompoc.

Been there 3 times already. Carne asada quesadilla is to die for. Chicken quesadilla is decent. Husband had a carne asada burrito, said it was good, but not as near as good as the quesadilla

This used to be my FAVORITE restaurant, and I’m really sad to see what it’s become in the last couple of years. A couple weeks ago I went with my boyfriend and got shrimp tacos that literally tasted like the inside of a pig pen at the fair. Today, I ordered something new, I got green sauce enchiladas with grilled chicken, and everything was fine until half way through… Tasted like they grilled rotten chicken. I’m not a picky eater, I’ve never written a review before… But this visit seriously ended this restaurant for me, and I feel like I needed to share. If I could give it 0 stars I would, probably not ever going back.

Great food, great service, great prices! I come here for lunch whenever I’m in Lompoc. I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. This is really a hidden gem tucked away in a little strip mall.

I took my sister, who was visiting from Phoenix area, to dinner at this restaurant. We were warmly greeted and had a terrific dinner. I asked for a modification to the chicken quesadilla without any issues. Interesting choice of cheese they put in it. We enjoyed our meal and give great kudos to our server!

Horrible service. Our orders were wrong and a few of us didn’t receive our food. The food we did get was cold. The server was rude. We were over charged on our tickets. They tried to charge us twice for one of the orders. When we complained, we were told there was nothing they could do about it. Manager said sorry, have a good night. I don’t plan on going back.

Considering this is a hole in the wall with fabulous authentic Mexican food, and that is exactly what I want from Mexican restaurant I have to give this place five stars. Definitely. Yes its a little out of the way but worth it. This place is owned and operated by people who know how to put a plate together with complimentary flavors. I urge you to try any of the grilled fish dishes. I had Filet de Veracruzana. They also have a half-dozen soups on any day, including sopa de pollo, de res, albondigas y tortilla pollo. Salsas were freshly made. There were six in my party, we all had something different and delicious. Rice was a little on the plain side but I don’t eat rice, I substituted steamed veggies. Steamed vegetables were FRESH, something that’s frozen at many restaurants. Décor is hole in the wall, but the place is CLEAN. La Michoacana has a meat market/Grocery in the same small shopping center, so that’s how they probably get all the fresh ingredients. Definitely return again.

I LOVE Mexican food. LA Michoacana has the best Mexican food in Lompoc. I personally like the Campesina. They do serve alcoholic drinks. I recommend the Cadillac margarita.

Good local spot, with a LARGE menu. Everything I’ve had has been great. I had the combo with enchiladas, fish tacos, and rice and beans. Rice is nice and fluffy my only gripe is the enchiladas are a little salty. That and this place isn’t the best I’ve ever had is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars, other than that the servers are really nice and your food comes out in a timely manner even if their busy

This is your typical neighborhood casual Mexican restaurant. Menu is large with soups, appetizers, choose 2 or 3 combo dinners or you can order a la carte tacos, gorditas/sopes, tortas, etc. Chips and salsa were fine. Salsa is sweet and garlicy stewed tomatoes. To start, we had shrimp ceviche which was nice and refreshing. My bf and I both had the 2-combo meals which come with refried beans and rice. I had a chile relleno and a fish taco and he had a tamal and something else. The chile relleno was good, not over fried and mildly spicy. The fish taco was chunks of greasy«grilled» fish with a bit of onion and tomato thrown on 2 tortillas. No lettuce, no sauce, nothing. Skip that one. As for the sides, the beans are really tasty you’ll want to eat them all, but stop yourself! Rice is regular. Overall the food was fine, service was laid back. If someone asked me I’d go again, but I wouldn’t pick it if I had another choice.
