Had a great early dinner on a Saturday with a few of my friends after wine tasting in the Ghetto. I had the rock cod special with couscous, my friend had the steak, and my other friend had the ahi tuna. The dessert special and coffee were amazing as was the wine selection which was very reasonably priced.

Went on opening day, food was good. There was a noodle in my friends tea though. Haven’t been back sense.

The Brussels sprouts were amazing! By far the best I have ever had. The other item that was at the top of the list was chicken strips and fries. Yummy! Everyone at the table tasted the chicken strips and said they were the best the had ever tasted. I would go back just for them. The beer selection was decent and I liked the Pale Ale. We tried the Lompoc Mule, it was okay. The service was wonderful, Chrisie was friendly and made great suggestions. Overall, the Stratch Kitchen is a great addition to Lompoc.

I went here for lunch on Wednesday. I had the sliders and the lamb pita, they were both very appetizing. The salad was a little heavy on the arugula but other than that the food was great. I would have giving this place 5 stars but it took a little long for the food to come out(there was only two other tables) and the scratcharita I ordered was too sweet. I only took a sip out of the drink and pushed it aside our server never noticed or asked about it.

I finally got around to trying this place when my aunt came into town. I love all of our Mexican and burger options, but this place is a nice addition to Lompoc if you’re in the mood for something different. Décor: 5 stars Service: A strong 5 stars Food: 3 – 4 stars depending on who you ask. My relleno was a little salty but very tasty and a large portion. My fiancé said the bun on his burger was amazing, but other than that his meal was pretty boring. My aunt seemed to enjoy her steak. I’d give the food a 4 overall after this initial visit. We’ll see how I feel about it after a second visit, although with the prices I probably won’t be back for a while. Definitely a special occasion budget.

Good food, but overpriced. Nothing really unique to justify the pricing. Wines also were overpriced, but one guy there does know how to pair with the food. It was a few days ago and I already can’t tell you what I had. I don’t remember it. The only reason I can say the food was good was because I made a note to that effect at the time. Obviously not memorable, however. I can’t justify giving two stars given the food apparently was pretty good. But«A-OK» is probably an overstatement. I doubt I will come this way again, but if I do I will skip this place.

I thought I’d love it, I didn’t. Maybe it was an off night, maybe I had too high expectations. I don’t think it was ether of these though. My salmon was… undercooked. Like badly undercooked. I don’t know… that ruined it for me. SO had the fried chicken, again it was underwhelming. I really can’t get past the undercooked salmon, that’s just kind of a flop as far as I’m concerned. I have to say skip it, there isn’t many options for Lompoc to begin with, it’s too bad.

Ordered salmon that was way too raw, they eagerly replaced it with excellently cooked steak. The wine is typically overpriced considering this is wine country(why do they do that?). The Crème Brûlée is good but would be so much better if they warmed it all instead of a warm crust and a cold bottom(lazy).

Second time I have been there. Too noisy to actually enjoy conversation will eating. Isn’t the point of sharing a meal a time for visiting? The only good meal out of the 5 meals ordered was the stroganoff. All others were bland and expensive. Won’t ever return. Like the lemon mint water and the artisan bread though.

First time here. Pork chop with potato was fantastic. Large portion, tender and juicy. Glass of wine was expensive, but nice choices available. Service was excellent. I plan to come here again. Neat décor, great foods from Skratch. Give it a try.

This rating is a tough one, but I am a believer in Unilocal Integrity and Consistency(smile). Probably the best«American» food restaurant in Lompoc, and if someone was visiting the Wine Ghetto and wanted to stay around for dinner, I’d send them here. So why just 3-stars? First, the pros: the fried chicken was very good, cooked well, with a crisp, if not unique, batter. I asked to substitute goat cheese mashed potatoes, and received a quick«no problem». Beer options on tap and bottle were pretty good, but the best part of the restaurant may be the local wines available. Caveat to all: most local wineries are of the boutique variety, which if you know the industry, means a bottle can be pricey. So, while you can find a bottle or 2 in the $ 20 range, it can ramp up fast; but, some damn good wines to be had! As for the cons: shoe string onion rings had trouble keeping their batter, and they were too greasy. Wife had the ahi, and based on a post-meal review w/our dinner companion, we all deduced it had to be the ahi that left her w/gastrointestinal distress later that evening. Not good. I can round out this review by noting the friendly staff, from hostess to waitress; and the environment is warm enough, and you can talk w/out having to shout, or suffer from eavesdroppers. That said, the window view of Lompoc street life is a little less aesthetically appealing. We liked Scratch, and believe it is a really strong 3. Hoping that, over time, a return visit will prove it is even better. Cheers! RL

I’ll preface this by saying, I need to give them another shot and I’ll update this review accordingly. That being said, I was hoping for more. I watched as they pulled out the old Mexican restaurant and basically rebuilt the inside. They poured a lot of money, effort and time into it and when you go that is evident. So far so good, let’s get into why only three stars. The food was the biggest factor in why it’s missing the other two stars. Maybe I went into it hyping it up too much for myself, or was hoping Lompoc would get the type of restaurant it needs to start a trend. I just think they missed the mark. It had all the right things, menu, service, over all appearance of the place… all good. The food just didn’t hit the right notes. I will say that, when we visited I believe it had only been opened for 3 – 4 months. I’ll give it another honest try and update when I do, I hope I can tack on another star.( Unilocal LA Challenge #9 of 100)

Great tasting food. Love happy hour and how they even have it on the weekends. Always try to bring local wine and beer companies in which I think is great. Tonight they had tasting for Slo Brew beer and live music. Forgot to take pics of the tacos but tonight they were pork belly tacos and had the BBQ wings. Thanks again.

I had 2 visits here. One for dinner during restaurant week and the second for brunch. Five stars because excellent service and I had a great experience both times. Pre-fixed dinner was absolutely delicious. Duck confit salad so yummers, petite salmon with green beans and this plated sauce that was amazing!!! Trio of chocolate desserts cake, truffle and a whipped chocolate with a strawberry hidden yum! The Lompoc mule was very good ginger beer. I ordered the steak and eggs with fruit for brunch. Steak was done to my specifications. Very generous portion of fruit. Mimosas were indeed bottomless light on OJ in fact they just poured champagne and put a little carafe of OJ on table. French toast was ordered and was very flavorful I had to steal some bites! Any additional condiments we requested were brought immediately. The atmosphere is fun and modern. Like upscale repurposed décor. It’s bright and feels alive. The wait staff was pleasant very good. I will definitely be back and highly recommend. I am so happy to see an establishment like this isn Lompoc!

Second time here. I give them 5 stars because they are probably heads and tails above anything you can find for miles. If you’re passing through on a wine tour(Santa Rita hills, Santa Barbara AVA etc etc) this is a quality place to eat and drink. Great beer and wine menu and chef who cares to put out good food. Nice handcrafted ambience, hope you find the experience as good as we did. Z

Having digested now what was«Sunday Brunch»… The building looks like it was originally something else, perhaps an Asian restaurant? The inside is lovely with a very minimalist and modern look. Dark chairs and dark tables, pale walls. The clientele ranged from retired service members to the young and pretty. I didn’t catch any issue with acoustics as some have mentioned but that could be because I drank my complimentary mimosa and snaked my husbands as well… tall champagne pour and only a whiff of orange juice. And after those two back to back I wasn’t really listening to much of anything except the sound of myself crunching down bacon if you know what I mean. We elected to try the buffet which at $ 24 and some change is feasible for higher caliber dining experience. A great selection of pastry(cranberry muffin, lemon bread, banana, etc) fruit tray(dark purple grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberry, honeydew) which had everything 100% ripe and just to the perfect point of selection, two variations of salad(good but not extraordinary), hot trays which consisted of 2 styles of hash, quail egg filled cups with chunks of bacon and a jambalaya on grits type of dish, bacon, chicken pot pie and some enchiladas. At the end you had a grits mini bar with the fixings and some desserts. The meal was rounded out with a cup of coffee. Everything was definitely visually well presented if lacking a bit in the flavor department. What was meant to be fresh was excellent but I honestly thought most of the other dishes could have used more seasoning. I am definitely happy there is a place like this in Lompoc. I will come again and try dinner next time.

Who knew?! Since all of Solvang was booked for the night, I was referred to Lompoc, which I’ve driven past a hundred times. I’ve been travelling for five days celebrating Festivus up and down California seeking out great food and drink. Guess what? Scratch Kitchen is the best restaurant I’ve had the pleasure of dining at by far! Beet salad, crispy Brussels sprouts and yummy wine… local, organic, artisan food all the way, very flavorful and completely satisfying! The owner is a visionary and sweetheart. The ambiance is rustic, clean, inviting. Not only is the food excellent, but the have a lovely wine bar as well. I will always stop in Lompoc now on my travels to visit Scratch. I just wish we had one in Long Beach!

We had a wonderful time dining in a larger group for my friend’s bachelorette party. Jessica, our server, was amazing and got us out really quick after she found out we had to be somewhere at a specific time after dinner. I give her service 5+ stars. Additionally, the food was tasty – I had a cheeseburger, but the ingredients were interesting and I loved the blue cheese. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy the food, as well. The ambiance of the restaurant was great and I felt that the prices were fair for the quality of food we were given. Here is why I did not give them higher stars: 1) We waited an hour before even receiving our food. I understand that we are a large party, but it was not a large restaurant and we felt that we waited way too long to receive our food. This left us in a rush to get us to our next destination. 2) Awkward Seating: We were in a larger L-shaped table and about 6 people had to move out of the booth for one of us to get up to go to the bathroom. With 15 girls who went wine tasting all day this was not convenient. Some girls were crawling under the table to make things easier. 3) Need window blinds on ALL windows! Sun was shining directly into my eyes to the point that I could not see the food in front of me. 4) The restaurant is extremely loud, but Jessica told us the restaurant is investing in padding for the walls to make the room quieter. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. I will be back next time I am in the area.

Wine-o’s rejoice, selection is great with local wines. The restaurant was quaint with a cool family dining style table. Doesn’t have a fine dining feel, more like a high quality rustic feeling, if there is one. The service was great and attentive. Now, the food. Keep in mind that this brunch. First off, I got the spinach and bacon frittata, without the bacon. The frittata was well made and I’m happy they made changes to my meal. The frittata had fresh ingredients, but it was WAY under seasoned. Now, the cost. My 3 egg spinach, tomato and gruyère cheese omelet came to a whopping $ 14. If you can afford to wear Lululemon, this is the place for you.
