I prefer here over Starbucks all day, especially their blended drinks. I wish they hadn’t closes the other locations.

Best coffee! Drink almost every day. Never get tired of it. Ask for a bagel bargain! Mmmmm!

Great coffee, great service, cute place. Minus 1 star because the coffee was a little bitter but I have a sweet tooth so I’m a tad bias. I’ll be coming back, this seems to be the only It’s A Grind left in my area.

The iced coffee is cold brewed, decent, and pretty cheap, and I would have rated this place much higher based on that. The large is a giant 14 ounces for $ 2.95. I came back today to work, a mistake I won’t make again. The music is whatever the baristas want and too loud, but this is a coffee shop in a strip mall in a part of town with very little else but Starbucks, so I’ll try it once, but… there’s no public restroom. They tell you to use one in the Pavilions several doors down. Is that even legal? Isn’t there an OSHA rule, or is that just for employees? Bizarre. At least the other coffee shops farther downtown have one, even if it’s through the kitchen and weird.

This location is one of the better one. Their baristas make better drinks than the Bixby location. Most of the people are very friendly, except for 1 cashier lady who works in the morning. She could use a little smile.

I am thinking this is the last It’s a Grind location, I think most of them have closed in Long Beach. The service can be hit or miss, it use to be really good and everyone was super friendly but it seems to have dropped off. Drinks are always good, I have never had a complaint in that department. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It must not be too bad, because they do ave a large group of regulars that I seem to always see but I do prefer«The Original Grind» in Los Alamitos.

As soon as you come to terms with Starbucks not actually being good coffee(or coffee at all) Id highly recommend this place. Good atmosphere and good lattes!

I don’t know how anyone could give this place a bad review. It’s like being back east. People remember your name, drink and you get a little friendly hey everytime you come in to the shop. I order a bagel with bacon, ham, egg, pepper jack cheese and Tapatio!!! Ewwwwwy it’s good

Love It’s a Grind! This is a great location, service is excellent. Great hours and menu, I had the java chip and it was very good. Their drink sizes are huge, the large will fill you up all day, and also run you about $ 8 That’s the only thing to keep me from giving its a Grind 5 stars for great taste, $ 8 is steep, even a regular is expensive, especially if you add a shot like I do or peanut butter like my husband does. Also, inconsistent, it tastes totally different everytime.

There is this 1 big lady at this location that has the worst customer service ever! Every time she takes my order she has that attitude look on her face! Last straw was when she was busy yapping to another customer while I waited for her to make my damn coffee!!! Really? And then she noticed I was starting to get impatient so she finally made my coffee and handed it to me with a attitude. Never going here again!!!

Love this place, when I need my morning caffeine boost this is my go to place. The staff is always friendly. They always get my complicated order correct. I love the fact that there isn’t a huge line like at star bucks. If you need coffee in the morning and you are in a rush this is your go to place!

I love it’s a grind in comparison to other big coffee shops! Always good coffee and I truly think the people hired are either well trained or just have high standards for service. Super nice and very attentive and this goes for all the locations I have been to. It’s sad that some closed that is why I come here.

I grew up in East LB and have been coming here for my entire life. The place is almost always full with a lot of family action and people sitting around for hours on their computers. Food fresh and good, staff friendly, but the prices for simple things(toast at $ 4!) are kinda high. One could just pop into Albertson’s, get a Danish and some coffee and sit outside on one of the little tables at one third the price. Just sayin’

I’m surprised at the high rating of this place. The cold brew was gross! I like my coffees straight up but I guess this place gets good reviews on its blended drinks and wifi … The cold brew tasted like hot coffee over ice. So gross. It WAS cheaper than what I usually pay for coffee but you get what you pay for. I walked nearly 2 miles for this because I wanted to avoid gas station coffee but I was better off going to a gas station. The cashier was also not too friendly and rang up another customer and engaged in conversation with her before even just simply giving me an iced coffee. So disappointing.

I have been coming here since I was a student at Millikan high school, class of 2003.(Yeah, now you know my age.) The baristas are always friendly and the food, bagels and coffee are always fresh and tastey. But Jacob is the best barista ever. He sounds very knowledgable about coffee beans. He explained the types of coffee they had in a lot of detail,(the country they are from, how they are roasted, the aroma) and made some great recommendations. This is the best ‘It’s a Grind’ in Long Beach!

I used to frequent this place quite often before classes, but that was sooo long ago. I went today, because I was craving a 50/50, which is orange juice, white chocolate, ice, and your choice of whipped cream or not. I say yes to whipped cream. I, also, asked them to put in coconut flakes… the kind they use in the coconut crunch blended. The drink itself was delicious. I enjoyed it. It was the service that was just«eh.» As I was walking to the door, an employee was coming out to deliver a drink to a customer. It was awkward as he didn’t say anything, no greeting… just stood there waiting for me to come in before he went out. He didn’t know who to deliver the drink to, so while I was at the register, the only other employee was yelling out to him who the drink was for. She took my order, and I paid. That was it. My drink was made in decent time. I don’t know. I remember they used to be really friendly at this place. I saw a «under new ownership» sign. Does that make a difference? Did I catch them on an off day? I don’t know. I’ll probably visit again to give them another chance. We’ll see…

I have been coming here for years. It is my one stop shop in the morning for an amazing bagel and coffee or a sweet treat scone. The staff here is so friendly and the best part is, They create a relationship with you. I’m at the point where I can just walk in and pay with out saying to much. My order is never wrong and I am always out in a short amount of time. This is one coffee house that will always have my support.

Best iced chai latte, they just need to go easy on the ice. My cup was half ice! The baristas are always friendly

I was sad when most of the It’s A Grind locations had closed so I was happy this location was still here. This is a cozy location, but what makes this location special are the customers and the folks who work here. I was standing in line and the barista working the bar knew most of drinks of the people who walked through their doors. It was like a perfect machine of people walking in paying for their drink while their latte or mocha was ready to picked up. Note to self: become a regular so if I’m a hurry I can get my drink by the time I get in front of the line to pay for it. I had a blended mocha. I actually liked that it didn’t have the strong burnt coffee flavor that the other ‘purveyor of coffee shop’ has. I also like that it was like drinking a shake because of the smoothness of the blended beverage. I didn’t get the left over ice chips at the bottom of my cup. I liked some of their pastries from what I saw, but I haven’t tried them yet. So I’ll update that next time I try it. The good: Fast service when you’re a regular. Plenty of parking. Free WI-FI. Friendly service. The meh: Not enough place to sit. Overall: Yeah, I’d go back again.

Once upon a time, there was a girl that lived in Long Beach and this girl discovered It’s a Grind when it first opened at it’s Atlantic Avenue location and since then became a loyal die hard fan. The same girl moved away two years ago to good ol’ Orange County and the land of Starbucks until today when she visited her old stomping grounds to get her hair done and was tickled pink that her favorite coffee shop had moved in next doors. Now imagine this girl woke up late, skipped breakfast, tested the sound barrier and speed of light driving like a mad woman down the 405 freeway and arrived a mere 30 minutes before her appointment hungry and desperate for food and ran into this coffee shop wide eyed and bushy tailed completely frazzled and scatterbrained. The cashier behind the counter had a kind smile as this girl squeaked out«can I visit a bathroom first, please? I really need to pee before I order.» He politely pointed towards the back and asked if he could get anything started for her so she wouldn’t have to wait in line upon her return. Girl: «Gosh, it’s been a while. I used to get a bagel that had some grains in it toasted with cream cheese and a hazelnut drink.» Cashier: «So you want a seven grain bagel toasted with cream cheese and a Nutty Cow? Regular? With whipped cream?» Girl: «Perfect! Hold the whipped cream though.» You’d think she’d never left. The bathroom was located in the very back, past all the wonderful coffee bins and an intoxicating bewitching aroma that took her back 7 years. Upon arrival, the Nutty Cow and bagel toasted to perfection were ready for pickup and after parting with payment, she found a cushy seat against the wall and waited in peace for a mere 15 minutes for her hair appointment. Life was good back in Long Beach and back at It’s a Grind. And what a damn fine cup of coffee that was. And bagels available around lunch time. Super awesome. This girl will be back.
