I came to Jean Machine earlier looking for some Vans shoes. They have a vast selection of name brand shoes– even larger than the Vans store! The customer service was friendly, especially the man in the front. You’ve got to check this place out– it’s amazing! I came in for one pair and walked out with three– such GREAT deals!

BEWARE of this Place!!! They are shady & the shoes will fall apart in months with light wear & I drive everywhere. I wasn’t going to leave a review until my brother just called me from his job saying the entire sole of his $ 85 leather converse just came completely off!!! He’s in freaking cvs trying to find glue!!! That compelled me to warn my fellow Unilocalers!!! I recommend going anywhere but here because I have identical older shoes I have from other places & they aren’t coming apart. He’s an awful sales guy & now that I’m reading posts about credit card fraud. I’m good! Hope this helps & yes I have pics!!!

GREAT store! Has everything from Shoes-Button ups. You need it? They got it! I walked in and without even saying nor doing anything at all, the owner told the cashier to give me a discount. At first i thought it was because their items were not legit, but after really looking into the product they are actually REAL! I’d definitely come back here for some top quality apparel at discounted price ANYTIME!

Very nice and helpful! Just got white converse hitops for 40 $ because it was on sale. Definitely would recommend coming back. Btw, I wrote this during Christmas time of ’12. So this review is long overdue.

Nice Store, great location but… Jean prices way off the board, at least for the ones I looked at. Even with the«10% off of everything» offered by the hawker stalking me, I hate to say it but you could go on line(or next door to Wal-scum) and get most of them for half the price. And price matters. Ross was pretty cool, just down the street.

Jean Machine is located in the City Place Shopping Center which is located really close to the Promenade in downtown Long Beach. I have been in here a few times because I like to check out their huge selection of skate shoes. They have a big store that has a mix of urban clothing and skate stuff. They also have a ton of Levi’s and Vans and stuff like that. For shoes, they have a lot of DC’s, Etnies, Es and Vans to name a few brands. They also do have a decent selection of skateboard decks vs the normal shop that just have some longboards laying around. One thing that really stands out for me here is how pushy they are. In normal skate shops you have youngsters that are too cool to talk to you and in this place you have some guy following you around the store suggesting random stuff to you and then saying for you my friend it will be cheaper. This practice is so lame! I am still searching for the skate /clothing shop that gives you just the right amount of customer service. That being said, they do have a good selection of stuff and maybe people that come in need to be constantly talked into stuff. They do move a lot of product and the back area is constantly filled up with boxes and boxes of incoming stuff. For Christmas the place is over flowing with product! Parking on the street out in front of Jean Machine can be a bit tricky and it is all metered but there are 2 parking garages just off of Pine avenue that have free public parking for two hours. I always park in these garages when I come down to downtown.

The owner told us that a pair of Dickies 33s fit just like a pair of 34s. Really? Then why are there different sizes. I’d rather go naked than to ever return here again. Very cluttered area and an overall poorly run establishment.

Bought a pair of women’s canvass low-pros for my granddaughter from the Jean Machine on 4th Street, LB. First of all, creepy guy guarding the front door please back off! We got a good price on the shoes but when we got home with the pair pulled from the warehouse, the strings were 54-inches(these 5-eyelet shoes should only have 36-inch strings at the most)! The next week when I got a chance, I went back to Jean Machine to tell them they had put the wrong strings in the shoes. The creepy guy says, «that’s how they came.» Really? I seriously doubt that Vans ships low-pros with 54-inch strings. So okay, whatever. I asked, «do you sell shoe strings?» «No, but you can probably get some at WalMart.» WTF? So a couple of days later I was out and stopped by a Vans store at the Lakewood Mall. I ask them about the strings: does Vans ever ship shoes without strings(to a warehouse) or ship with mis-matched strings? They said all their low-pro shoes come with 36-inch strings. So I don’t know what these guys on 4th Street are up to — are they taking the nice Vans strings out and selling them to someone else then buying 54-inch strings in bulk to put in every shoe they sell(I washed the shoes with the laces in and the ends came apart…)? Are they getting knock-offs from somewhere(the color we bought is nowhere to be found on Vans website or the internet)? There is a very strange vibe in this place and if I can find out where to complain to Vans(their website seems to be devoid of a place to contact corporate with concerns — maybe they don’t care if there are knock-offs out there?) I will call this to their attention. Meantime, in search of 36-inch white shoe laces(the Vans store was out). :-|
