Anytime we are visiting Long Beach we make a point to stop at Shoreline Village and visit Pirates Cove. In addition to lots of cool pirate items they also have lots of funny shirts, stickers and cards. The owners are super nice and very kid friendly. I am particularly fond of their pirate themed shot glasses and on this last visit we also picked up a couple of Long Beach Christmas ornaments to one day hand down to our kids.

Of course the whole Shoreline Village is touristy, but this is one of the best shops there. There’s a good-sized variety of itemst in in this shop. I bought a few greeting cards for upcoming holidays/birthdays that are different from the usual greeting cards you see at the drug stores. That was nice of them to give me a 15% coupon off my future purchase & a nice sticker showing the view of Shoreline Village.

This place is excellent — lots of cool stuff and located by the ocean. They have lots of souvenirs for California and Long Beach. They also have tons of cool Pirate clothing and accessories. It looks like they also have a souvenir website:

This place has been here for some time, and since I have loved pirates since I was a just a little wee pirate wannabee, I have always made a point to stop in when I at Shoreline. I have picked up a few items to add to my Halloween pirate costume. Yes, I used that costume for many many halloweens. And pirates are so populare these days anyway, you can pick up cute pirate girl flasks, keychains, and blingy rings that are just plain useful all year long! Right? Oh, Maybe I am the only one that to carry around a flask with a skull and crossbones on it. There is also the stash of the usual Long Beach cheapy souveniers and shirts. It definitely amuses you for a at least a good 25 minutes to take a stroll through. And you can take a picture with the lifesized pirate statures that stand outside the shop. Have kids? Bring them to the Pirate Festival in October. Arrrgh!

It’s a complete mystery to me how this store stays in business in all of the 11 months that don’t feature Halloween. Then again, pirates have been very hot for a while now. This is a bona fide pirate store, with pirate music blasting through the speakers, pirate hats, pirate shot glasses, pirate lighters… plus some random stuff like Long Beach paraphernalia, incense and cigarettes. Pirate’s Cove saved my life before the Dia De Los Unilocalos party, when I needed a masquerade mask to complete my outfit. I first called ahead to check on their hours, and a new employee told me to get there by 8:30 «to be safe» because she didn’t know what time they closed. I’m pretty sure it was the same employee when I got there, and she was super helpful, allowing me to look at different masks before making my selection. $ 7 wasn’t a great deal for what I got, but compared to one of those lame-o Halloween warehouses that pop up this time of year, it was a steal. Thanks Pirate’s Cove!
