I had a chicken breast with a waffle and side of biscuit and gravy. AMAZING!!! DELICIOUS!!! I had heard a lot about how good this place was and I was not disappointed. When you first walk in you can smell the waffles. It remind me of being at the fair or Boardwalk(east coast). Next time I’m going to venture out and try some different sides. But I will definitely be back.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait at all but It gets very packed at night, especially on the weekends. We got seated at this unbalanced sticky table. I thought it would annoy us the entire experience but it didn’t bothered us at all. We ordered #2(two chicken, two waffles) with gravy on the side($ 13), and French fries($ 5). The French fries was okay for me but my boyfriend liked it. The waffles were so buttery, soft, and delightful. Chicken was crispy outside but soft on the inside. That is always a plus for me! Service was good! They took good care of us and gave us what we needed. I love this location more than their other locations. You can really tell the difference from the quality of the food and service. Definitely coming back here!

This place is the bomb. Really. It has a very homey feel. The fried chicken is just perfect. Crispy and succulent. The seasoning is just right. Add the fluffy waffles and you have magic. Southern hospitality and food at it’s finest. Go here now. It’s probably still open.

Roscoe’s is a must every time I come down to Long Beach to visit my boyfriend. Although it’s a hit or miss on some visit, overall I love their chicken & waffles. Their chicken is juicy and their waffles are fluffy & buttery. Perfect.

Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles. Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles. Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles. Legend says if you say it three times, a chicken leg will appear! I had the #4 ½ chicken with 2 waffles and gravy on the side. The chicken was moist on the inside. It was like the chicken loved to hydrate itself. The fried delicious exterior was great. It had good spice, a nice crisp crunchy outside, and was piping hot. It was almost as good a grandma’s fried chicken. The waffle was nice. It was fluffy and decadent. Like a godly pillow of flavor sent to bring peace to man kind. The syrup was A1 and the gravy was great. I also had an eclipse(cool drink). It had lemonade, OJ, and Fruit Punch. Woop! It was a great meal.

I came here with my boo on Sunday evening We heard so much about this place and want to give it a try. A BIGMISTAKE We ordered Obama and carol dishes. Also Mac and cheese I had a choral dish and my chicken has blood in it. I almost barf! I was so disappointed. I couldn’t eat it at all. But I only gave this place 2 stars because of waffle The waffle was amazing. So fluffy and has flavor. So warm as well. We will come back only for waffle.

Roscoe’s is a Long Beach Icon. For some reason when people talk about Long Beach, they refer to Roscoe’s. I’m not sure I understand why. Louie Burger is a name I have heard in many songs, but I haven’t heard Roscoe’s. The Food itself is pretty decent. I wouldn’t really go out of my way to get it, or avoid it. I have been twice in the four years I have lived in Long Beach. Usually I will order some combination of *drumroll* chicken and waffles. I’m not sure I understand how this combo came about, am I supposed to cut off a piece of the chicken and eat it with the waffle on the same fork? Am I supposed to eat one and then the other? I don’t know! But this really confuses me. It might be really good for what it is, or really bad. I hear the place in LA proper is much better. However, I’m gonna say no.

I think anyone who loves fried chicken and also loves waffles has to try Roscoe’s at least once in their lives! Waffles are good separately and fried chicken is good separately, but when you pair them together, the results are so good. That fluffy, buttery waffle paired with that crispy, juicy chicken, and sweet maple syrup. If you are set on getting white meat for the chicken, I would get it with gravy. It’s super dry without it, unless you want to drench it in syrup. I prefer getting their dark meat. Their fried chicken is so good! We like getting the Eclipse beverage, which is a tasty concoction of lemonade, fruit punch &OJ.

I was pleasantly surprised about the cleanliness of this place. Except for the bathroom — I felt cleaner going in than coming out … In any case, the fried chicken here is out of this world. Now imaging that type of friend chicken drenched with onions gravy. Yeah, probably can upgrade that out of this world to out of this solar system at least. Science joke? The bathroom uncleanliness and the grits not being all that great attribute a 4 star review. But other than that, I would definitely come back here. Being a little buzzed would make the food definitely taste out of this galaxy!(Continuing in the science joke … Sorry couldn’t help myself) Please please please do not leave here without trying the waffles. The waffles are simply amazing. Make sure to drench the waffle with as much maple syrup as possible.

Quite a while back, the manager at a whorehouse said to me: «Sir, you just can’t get it like that here.» Shortly after those words were spoken I found myself face first on the pavement outside. Every time I order chicken and waffles here in Texas, those words ring in my ears. Truth be told, I think unless these places(I’m looking at you 24 Diner) can emulate yours, i’m just done trying to get decent chicken and waffles anywhere else. I’m going to say this out loud, and it pains me. California is the only place to get chicken and waffles done right. Period. Roscoe’s.I both hate and love you for this. Sincerely, A Texan

Overview: This Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles in downtown Long Beach is one of several Roscoes across southern California serving a small variety of «southern» dishes including fried chicken, waffles, chicken liver, chicken omelets, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, biscuits, corn bread, grits, giblets, and an energy drink called Pit Bull. It’s a sit-down, casual establishment with a culturally diverse clientele and free sour ball candies at the exit. Pricing is considerably higher than the equivalent meals at Popeye’s or KFC’s so expect to pay between $ 12 – 19 for entrees before tax/tip(as of Dec 2015) and $ 3 – 5 for sides. The Food: Fried Chicken 4⁄5 — Wonderfully seasoned, crispy skin with soft, succulent tender innards. Honestly, not very different from KFC, or Popeye’s or Bojangles but those places serve absolutely delicious chicken as well. Waffles 2⁄5 — These are not waffles. They’re soft, thin, and Eggo-waffle like, and lacking the crunchy complex texture of freshly ironed restaurant waffles. While they are very mediocre, they do complement the fried chicken very well. Liver omelet 3⁄5 — Nothing special here, it’s chopped liver wrapped in egg. The Establishment: This Long Beach location has a private lot both right next to the establishment as well as another lot across the street. Don’t try to park on the street because it’s always busy here downtown. The actual establishment is pretty large with a fairly big atrium for people waiting on a table. It’s quite crowded after 7PM but if you come before 6PM, it’s surprisingly open. Tables are clean and the servers are attentive, friendly and quick. Conclusions: Roscoe’s is best described as a large KFC or Popeye’s with table service and a premium price. It’s pretty darn delicious and the service is good, but if you can deal without the table service, I would recommend a trip to KFC’s or Bojangle’s.

I’ve been here several times, and at first I didn’t enjoy my meal very much. However when I decided to give roscoes another chance, oh man they really improved! I came back in 2012 and I was disappointed in everything from quality of food, price, service and overall atmosphere. Decided to give it another chance in 2015 and wow. Chicken is so crispy and juicy, and waffles are so fluffy and sweet with a big scoop of yummy butter on top!!! Ugh so good. Sides are ok though, could’ve done without the Mac and cheese and potatoes(expensive as hell too). If you want to try some real food chicken and waffles, make your way here! Only con I have now is that it is still A bit pricey for what it is. Careful though, as the wait can get long!

Parking — they have a lot across the street from the restaurant which makes parking in this area so much easier. The food — The food was ok. This place was a little inconvenient for groups because they don’t allow you to split the check. I think i’ll save this stop for out of town guests — It won’t be working it’s way into the regular rotation.

Always always perfect! Food always cooked to perfection. This is one of the best locations without going to LA! And it’s next to a jazz club so they have a bar you can order drinks from to be brought to your table! Customer service is great. I have been to this location Countless times and always forget to leave a review. So I have accomplished this task finally, however food is gone!

When I was little and tried Roscoe’s, I just couldn’t get into it. The combo was weird and the other items(not listed in the name) were no good to me. Fast forward several years and more experienced taste buds, and I really appreciate this chain now! I have been to the locations on Pico, Sunset, Manchester(east of the 110 — there is now one near the 405), and this one. This one and Sunset are my faves — this one because it’s closest to home and I feel like it’s the only one I don’t leave smelling like a chicken or a waffle, and the Hollywood location because it’s fun and bustling(be prepared to have to wait, though, particularly on the weekends). As if this combo were not fattening enough, I always ask for extra butter… I want to see a thick layer of the good stuff in each waffle square AND lining the outside excess of dough that didn’t quite make it into the griddle(it needs love, too!)… AND extra syrup served extra hot. Don’t judge me! The chicken is always nice and crispy. There is something quite magical about the battered chicken with Tabasco sauce(I rarely use Tabasco, but always here!) and the buttery sweet doughy-ness of the waffle. I cut them each just right so I can pair a bite of one with the other.(I, now, only the eat the chicken and waffles here — nothing else.) My only complaint — and it’s my complaint for most restaurants — is that I wish the food were served hotter, specifically the waffle. You can order an adult beverage from the Seabird next door, but you will have to pay on a separate tab.(I haven’t quite figured out the relationship between Roscoe’s and the Seabird… they seem«related» but they want to keep the financials separate.) When I visited a few weeks ago with my family, my uncle asked«do you get orange juice to go with the waffle or sprite to go with the chicken?» Ha! Last night, I had champagne which nicely bridged the breakfast/dinner gap. You will definitely NOT want to visit here if you are looking for ambiance. The environment would be somewhat cold(think public school cafeteria style with bright fluorescent lights and white walls and hard seats — nothing too«warm» outside of the fireplace and wood panel walls) if it were not for the nice service with a smile and fun guests. I feel kinda greasy when I leave here, but, again, not as much as the other locations. I’ve never had issues finding parking in the lot across the street. But I’ve also never been for the late night/after clubbing experience. I imagine it could fill up fast, then. Long review short, try it. Most people who do are not disappointed.

Roscoe’s is forever a late night, once in a blue moon tradition. You don’t come here for speedy service. You come here for the food, and hanging out with your friends. If you think you’re going to get anything done quickly, and quietly… Whoops. The chicken surely is something to talk about. It’s fried and seasoned beautifully. But the mac and cheese, and greens are something you can’t pass up. The mac and cheese is like Clifton’s Cafeteria, circa Lakewood mall(remember that?). Let nostalgia hit with one bite here. Their greens have that secret ingredient that makes everything better. Tip: they don’t split checks, so it’s probably best to bring cash and figure that out ahead of time.

Roscoes Chicken and Waffles are to die for. Food: The chicken was flavorful and is seasoned so well. The waffle made my experience here even better. Idk what it is about the waffle but the batter is heaven in my mouth! Mac and cheese tasted like Kraft and the Hot Coco drink was great. Parking: free and easy to find. There are parking guys that will lead you to parking across the street. I thought this place was hype but nope. This is some gooood food! Chicken Meal prices ranges from $ 7-$ 18 so it’s not bad at all
