I visited this venue last Friday evening. Let me start with the positives — why I am rounding up to three stars… — The music was awesome! I believe the frontman of the quartet I heard is Jimmy Hewitt… he lead a four piece ensemble with him on guitar, a saxophonist, drummer, and cool cat bass player, while providing some lyrics for a few of the blues songs. There is small stage with a great sound system. Jimmy, also, hosted a guest vocalist who was very fun to watch… I believe her last name is Pruitt. I was impressed with the entertainment! — There was a cover of $ 7 per person — not bad when you consider a movie costs more than that. Bring cash. The card system was down and Seabird and Roscoe’s(in the same building) seem not to like to combine financials. — I’m always impressed with a diverse crowd, and that’s what the Seabird seems to attract. Various age groups and ethnicities were representin’… sista likes that! Now, for the not so positive… — This place is dingy and seems not as clean as I’d like to experience when I plan to sit somewhere for, at least, a couple of hours. Thinking back, maybe I should have figured… it is in the same building as Roscoes, which is not known for ambiance. If you sit in the small narrow area, directly in front of the stage, you can enjoy the more«appropriate» live music décor which contains pictures of famous artists and a nice ceiling painting. The rest of the space, which is pretty large, just seems like an old bar. I was wearing a backless get up(very rare for me), and my back felt itchy by the time I left. — The service was very hit or miss. The lady who first came around to take my party’s order just came by and looked at me. I said hello and smiled and she barely grinned back. Okay. There was another younger lady who made up for the service by smiling and providing water for my table. Apparently, policy allows for a very small«water back» glass, when requested. I can appreciate conserving water as we are in a drought, but the nice young lady ended up bringing me and my companion large glasses of water because we kept asking for the clear liquid goodness. She said she had to sneak it to us. — The drinks were weak and unrecognizable. I ordered a cranberry/Grey Goose and it tasted like neither. It was really weird. I tried my friend’s Belvedere with soda and that tasted even more foreign! Maybe it was the ice? — The chairs are very uncomfrotable. There are some covers on the chairs in the aforementioned lounge-ier area. While they add a bit of pizzazz to the space, they offer no type of cushion to alleviate the pain caused by the hard wooden chairs they disguise. And I have some of my own natural cushion! There was a nice little street vendor directly outside the building with some nice hats! Too bad I didn’t have any cash leftover… and most of the fedoras were too small for my head. Lol! Overall, I would return again arriving early enough to try the booth seats that line one side of the lounge, dressed much more casually, and having imbibed beforehand or with the intent to order beer, wine, or something else that does not need to be put together(or contain ice).

I have yet to find an awesome jazz lounge anywhere else in LA/OC than Seabird. Every nigh hosts some awesome talent that cover every element of jazz from blues to some soul/r&b and even smooth jazz. It’s always fun to stop in after eating at Roscoe’s which is within the same building. If you’re into jazz, you definitely need to pay this place a visit!

The place is dingy and the drinks are weak, but it’s a great place to catch some great talent with no cover. Maybe the only place? Surely no others have a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles under the same roof and plenty of free parking. For something better you’d have to drive for Miles. Get it?

Cool hole in the wall spot with amazing jazz on any given night! Been here a couple of times and although the scene is a bit dated the entertainment is on point!!! Great spot to go grab a drink and listen to some good music

We had a great time enjoying the Al Threat Band Saturday night at Seabird Jazz Lounge. Their music was excellent, they interacted with the audience very well and were very warm and appreciative of the good audience. They were very well versed in jazz, straight ahead and contemporary as well as other genres that the audience appreciated. We hope to see them again soon at Seabird as we have told many of our friends about the band and how good their music was and the great time we had at Seabird Jazz Lounge. Thank you for the great live music.

This review is for both Roscoes chicken @ waffles and the Lounge. Being that this is my first time here, I didnt know what to exact. So like always, I came with an open mind. I was invited by a friend who told me about this place & their live bands. Surely I thought it’s a pretty well known establishment, it should be good. Well, let me start off by saying how unorganized & dirty this place is. Second of all, when I arrived at the main doors, there’s a pass thru to your left & right. NOBODY!!! Told me if I wanted to have dinner, you must go to your left, if you want to listen to the band then go to the right. I headed right because I heard the music. I found my friends & sat down. A short time later a waitress came up to us and asked if we were ready to order. First of all nobody had even given us a menu or welcome us. She went ahead a grabbed a drink menu, that’s when I asked for a dinner menu. She proceeded to tell me that in order to have dinner I needed to get out of my seat, walk to the side area by the bar to be able to have dinner. Of course that already irritated me but I was hungry & I really wanted to try out the food. Once in the side area another waiter came & told me that unfortunately I could not get«full service» dinner only take out, in order for me to actually have a waitress or waiter I would need to walk across the hall to the other side of the building AWAY from the band to have dinner. I proceeded to tell him that the waitress had sent me to this side area, but the gentlemen said he couldn’t give me a full service(I guess he couldn’t give me a plate with food & check on me if I needed refills). I could only order to go. He said if I wanted to order to go I could & he would allow me to sit there and eat my food. So I did, I ordered food. I’m not going to even talk about how nasty and old the food tasted. Let’s just say 15min later I had to use the rest room. So I left. Let’s review 1) I show up to the place there is nobody to greet me 2) there are no signs saying if you want dinner you must eat this way, drinks only that way. 3) I sat down three different places from the time i arrived, to the time I wanted dinner, back to listening to the band 4) very unorganized & very unprofessional 5) nasty, dirty, smells bad 6) live band was pretty amazing tho 7) food game me an upset stomach 8) TONY is a REALLYREALLYREALLYBADMANAGER … I witnessed him yelling at one of his waitresses outside when she was on break. This guy is very unprofessional. 9) don’t ever go here and if you do, don’t eat here, but if you do, don’t expect much 10) only good this about this place was the live music. I think that’s the only reason why people keep coming back.

This location has good music from local Los Angeles talent. Jazz, Blues, Karaōke. No food near the stage, however, there is a location to eat and watch the show on a big screen. This place is highly recommended.

This is the spot!!! Unilocalers near and far, come relax and hear some awesome music from the Seabird Jazz Lounge. This neat little hole-in-the-wall has a lot of character and some outstanding bands that perform. The drinks are right on point, and there is now an area to eat in, while listening to the music. There is a fireplace(yes, I know we’re talking So. Cali here– but the fireplace adds ambiance), and a large screen to see the performers while you listen live and enjoy your food. Karaōke on Wednesday nights are off-the-hook with Teddy B. He has the best set-up with monitors and music to cover every genre– come out and hear some vocal chords that will get you cheering(maybe jeering), but it’s all in fun and with a good crowd that encourages– not discourages. Plus, with Teddy B in the house, he can adjust the volume so everyone’s voice sounds decent ;) Don’t be shy– come out and try! On Sunday evenings, between 5 and 9, the lounge hosts the newest musicians called the Jazz Angels– these little kids are adorable and so cute with their instruments and their savoir faire– and they sound good too!!! Would love to see DW3 come and perform. To all my fellow Unilocalers, near and far, come out and support the local Seabird Jazz Lounge. Remember, no cover charge, 2 drink minimum that does not have to be alcohol, FREE parking across the street, and music that will keep you smiling for a good, long while!

Live jazz, which would give them 5 stars because of its awesomeness! But they STILL refuse to serve even a limited menu in the Lounge. Such a bad business decision.

We had a group event at Roscoes and decided to continue the party by walking next door to Seabird. There was a live band playing. The band had lots of charm. The singer came over to our group and started serenading the ladies. There were a lot of bigger ladies in the room enjoying the tunes and our hip young group of skinny rock climbers stood out. We had a lot of fun for the time that we were in there. The band was excellent. Great danceable jams. The crowd was nice and friendly and welcoming. More people should head on over and enjoy this place. It’s a shame it’s not packed!

My uncles came in from South Carolina, and we decided to take them to Roscoes(My uncle wanted some grits, so why not). So we all enjoyed Roscoes and decided to finish the night off at Seabird. I had been there before, no one else in the fam had. Ended up being the best night of their trip. The show was great, although I forgot the ladies name that performed. She played to the crowd and left my uncles with big smiles on their faces haha. Great spot to hang out, whether you are eating or not, and they have live performers on designated nights in the week. Looking forward to going back!

Hubby and I came her with our friends. It wasn’t planned so when we sat down and watched the show, we were pleasantly surprised by the performers. The singer and his band were jammin’ as we bobbed our heads to the music. Being with great company helped a whole lot ofcourse but we hit the jackpot with the band that night. I believe this venue is associated with Roscoes chicken and waffles next door but surprisingly, I didn’t see anyone sitting, eating Roscoes. I came to the conclusion when I saw someone from Roscoes delivering food to someone in the Seabird lounge who was standing by the door. There’s no covercharge so needless to say, I think the Seabird Lounge prefers their potential patrons that stand either at the door outside and listen, take their food that they are waiting for at Roscoes and go home.

We decided to go in while we waited to be seated. My boyfriend ordered a Flat Tire and I just ordered a raspberry iced tea thinking it would go with my food later. I don’t think waiting in the bar for our table or ordering an iced tea there was a good idea. When she brought me my drink, it was in a little cup with a sipping straw and they charged us $ 6 for it, really? I think our total was about $ 13 and we were not sure what we were being charged for. The receipt had an O-Dhoul and Blue Moon, I think. When we asked our server, she said that the price was right and that she entered a generic fountain drink and beer but those were the right prices. I still think something went wrong there.

First time at the Seabird last night and were we impressed. Dale Black’s Jazz Quintet was outstanding. Great musicians, nice song selection and killer improvisation. Service was great and the vibe was relaxed. Much better than Steamer’s in Fullerton. If you like jazz and you haven’t been to the Seabird you don’t know what you’re missing. Oh yeah, did I mention Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles is next door?

I had the opportunity to attend a Long Beach Area Chamber of Mixer at the Seabird this week. Wow! What a great place. Very clean. Great music. Great food. And friendly service from everyone. I’m glad the chamber introduced me to the Seabird. I’m definitely going back.

Comfy seating, couches probably been there for a good few decades. Can you just imagine who have graced the seats of the Seabird Lounge??? Great drinks, great entertainment. So glad we stopped in on our drunken way home. Will be coming back with friends again soon.

Great food and entertainment. However, if booking a party, I’d suggest you get a written contract. I booked a party of 50, spent lots of money on food and drinks and was told my deposit was solely toward the drink minimum. Unfortunately, even after exceeding the drink minimum, my deposit was not refunded and the story changed. I was then told it went toward extra security, the space, waitresses, etc. My guests had a great time and several had already consulted with me about booking future events, but unfortunately due to breach of a verbal agreement, I have to be very honest with them and let them know I can no longer vouch for booking an event. I’d gladly return to enjoy the meals, but wouldn’t recommend losing money(the deposit) when bringing in ten times that in revenue.

Right next to Roscoe’s. as in you use the same door to get to this place. Ended up here while waiting for our table. Who would have known that there’s a jazz lounge conveniently next door? There was a quintet playing that night and they sounded great. Staff is friendly. Chairs are too stiff, drinks not so much. Worth checking out if you’re into jazz and/or waiting for your table at Roscoe’s!

.., we’ve heard some good tunes come out of this spot. The Seabird is a great spot to hang out & listen to some jazz. Especially on the weekends. Especially before or after eating Roscoe’s haha. Unfortunately we haven’t been here without the main intention of eating @ Roscoe’s(which is located next door, literally). But we definately hang out here for some drinks & entertainment while waiting for our table. I dig the set up, lounge furniture, dim lights, & good booze. Staff is usually friendly & the wait isn’t long. I want to come back solely on hanging out here & having a drink. It’s worth checking out though, come stop by!
