True statement about the WORST customer service !! but the service needs work starting with the owner. I stood at the counter for at least five minutes with the paper and a bag of chips while my friends waited for the nachos they ordered. We live in town and sometimes would swing in for lunch, The owner and another clerk both saw me but did not come to help me at the counter so i waited while the owner fixed himself a coffee and chatted with the clerk .a few more minutes I asked for help from them and she motioned me to come down to the next counter. I stated i needed a lighter from behind the counter and she screamed we have them down here. I stood there until she came to me stomping the whole way i told her i had been waiting she decided to argue with me so I then told her she could keep her items.(my friend told me after the guy standing there with the coffee was the owner) WOW !! we were the only people in the store the whole time… The Ladies working in the Taco bar are the only ones with any customer service,

The service here was very slow and very rude. I can’t believe this place is still in business. Certainly won’t be for long if they keep treating customers like this.

Part of a larger store the ice cream selection is huge with many flavors. Great price especially when compared to my shops back in Seattle.

Ice cream was good. They warned me of big portion sizes, and while they were decent, wasn’t what I was expecting(like a ice cream shop outside of LaConner, WA I know). Will be worth going back for the variety of flavors next time in the area.

There is no sense dragging this review out. I’ll keep it short… The employees are mean people. Their motto is «the customer is always wrong»

Waffle cone was not as fresh as expected and the place seemed a little dumpy inside. Portions were generous though and the place seemed mostly clean.

A Long Beach institution! Decent price for taffy, if you’ve ever been to Leavenworth you know, and the scoops of ice cream are huge! Had a double waffle cone at noon and didn’t need to eat again until dinner!

So many ice cream flavors to choose from and prices are very reasonable! The employees are very nice and joke around! And to top it off it is also a convenience store!

$ 6 for a double scoop but worth it! High quality and lots of variety for ice cream. This place has the process down to a science — pay and proceed to selections. People walking around at 8am with scoops as their last memories on the way out of town. Hopefully you get at least one chance to stop in during your trip into this landmark. Friendly staff!

Worst customer service I have ever experienced! Period! The lady running the register was rude and yelled at me when I decided I wanted to UPGRADE my order before she took my money. I simply asked her: «Would it mess you up if I ungraded to a waffle cone? She then yelled: «Yes it would» and slammed her hands on the counter and said«What do you want?» She then yelled at my 3 kids age 2.5, 5&7 for telling her what flavor of ice cream they wanted. She was extremely rude and condescending. They literally treat you like a number, an unlucky number at that. The way they do their ordering is strange and unclear, so when I go to the register and tell them what I want after standing there for 10 minutes deciding and am then yelled at etc and made to wait 15 more minutes to have someone take my real order… yeah… have a sign or something! Oh and the huge sign they do have with all the 48 flavors is apparently incorrect. Take down the sign then! It’s fine if they want to be unconventional about how they do their business, but their complete lack of civility and ability to treat me like a person not a number translates to me NEVER returning here again. I know rude and condescending«ice cream Nazi Lady» probably won’t care but she needs to get her head into the 21st century before internet word of month hurts their business.

There is nothing else like it at Long Beach. ONLY in Long Beach. This place is better than any ice cream shop on the globe. And there is nothing on this planet that can keep up with this place.

This place is great. Yes, you pay for your ice cream first, but with so many flavors, I find it impossible that one couldn’t find a flavor they liked. Scoops are huge. It’s not the cheapest ice cream in the world, but you get what you pay for. Lines can be huge. We waited 20 minutes once. But it’s a tourist town that gets rather busy in the summer. I got time

It’s too hot, but you are eating ice cream. Very, very busy place. They do a good job keeping you moving even if the first lady says she«doesn’t care,» what you want on you cone/bowl, etc. No one there looked happy except the patrons. And a word to the wise, do not ask for two scoops. It is HUGE and you won’t even make it to the second scoop.

Customers are wrong here, even if the store runs out of a flavor that you already paid for a quart. Is it too much to ask for a different container since the store ran out of a flavor and said pick another flavor for remaining quart? I didn’t know there is a shortage of ice cream containers. Next time it would be better off going to a local store and just buy a quart. It’s less expensive and customers don’t feel as if they are at wrong when it’s not their fault! I know the store was busy but customer service should never be overlooked! It goes a long way.

The reason I’m only giving two stars is the business model. Do you want to sample the ice cream? Sure you can! After you pay for your ice cream… Wait I can’t try it first!?? What they are doing is trapping the customer. They may say it is so people don’t free load, but let’s be honest. If the person try’s over say five flavors tell them they need to pay… I asked them what if I don’t like any of the favors. I was told well. We may be able to refund you. I have been to over 50 ice cream joints but never been treated this way. Some may disagree but this is bad business in my opinion. It is the owners right to run his/her business this way, but I don’t like having my money held hostage…

Three times in three days. They had us hooked. The ice cream has excellent texture, not icy, not fatty. Not too sweet and the flavors shone through. Coffee is good too. Bookmark this place. It’s worth a visit, or two, or three. You decide.

Scoopers has lots of good flavors and lets you taste before you make your final pick. They’re a bit disorganized and their combination of older and newer ice cream signage can be confusing and is probably stressful for the employees who, thus, have to keep explaining how things work to every new customer stepping up to the register. Their setup is opposite of how Baskin & Robbins works. You wait in line to pay ahead for your cone or a bowl and how many scoops you want. Once paid, they assign you an order number which you listen for to be served. Then you go sample ice cream and pick your flavor for your scoop(s). I think the kind of customer service you get, whether you love the place or hate it, depends on how crowded it is when you visit or how busy the day has been before you get there. We were served by a lovely and patient young woman who seemed quite tired, like it was near the end of her shift. Other employees seemed similarly stressed with the commotion and free-for-all atmosphere that the line becomes once people have paid and are running up and down in front of the cases sampling flavors. A couple of the other servers were less kind than our server was. A fourth server was pleasant, like ours. I can imagine on a hot day in the middle of summer, the place is a madhouse. We went on a chilly summer evening with a smaller clientele in the store – maybe 50 people waiting or milling about. We had good ice cream and a lovely server. The ice cream is worth it – there’s no place else like it on the peninsula that I know of – but be prepared to chill in your attitude a bit if you go when it’s hot out and noisy/busy.

We ended up at Scoopers both nights of our Long Beach weekend. What can I say — there’s just not that much going on in the evenings, especially if you don’t want to spend any more time in your hotel room than you have to. It does seem like the entire population, locals and tourists, ends up there on nice evenings, though, so we weren’t alone! Depending on which sign you read, they have 37 – 45 ice cream flavors on offer at any given time, more than enough for everyone to find something. In addition to the standard flavors, they have the horrifying fluorescent kid-friendly ones and some interesting and unique options, like caramel macadamia froyo(my favorite) or black licorice(it’s jet-black!). Portions are huge and I was amazed by how many people ordered 2– or 3-scoop waffle cones — a single scoop sugar cone is plenty. The ordering process is a little odd, but here’s how it works: you get in the long line to pay for your orders first, and you get a number on your receipt. After that, there is no line, and you can browse up and down the glass cases to your heart’s content while waiting for your number to be called. So jump in line right away, and know that you will have puh-lenty of time to agonize about your flavor(s) before you have to decide. Several reviewers commented about rude service, but based on our visits, it seemed to be mainly one older woman who was grumpy and brusque. Mostly it was staffed by teenage girls who were friendly and helpful, even if you asked for multiple samples before committing. In addition to the ice cream counter, they have a sort of gross-looking cafeteria(closed when we were there in the evenings) and a convenience-store selection of candy, salty snacks, beer, and boozy energy drinks. If you ever wondered where the world’s supply of 4Loko and Sparks ended up, here it is! Oh, they also have sweatshirts and some Long Beach souvenir items in the front, too. Overall, a fun place to get an after-dinner treat — just accept that the waiting is part of the experience and use the time to people-watch and decide on your favorite flavor.

Love love love this place! You want something sweet? This place has it! The staff is always super helpful and nice. I love that you order what you want the ice cream in(bowl, cone, etc) at the counter when you pay, and then you get to peruse the choices and order your flavors when you’re ready. They have so many it’s difficult to choose! On this last trip we tried their espresso and it is by far the BEST in town! We have officially tried all the coffee shops in Long Beach and will never go to another when we’re in town :-)
