Excellent customer service, and the doctors was very attentive. Called last minute and got an appointment same day. Will be back for sure!

I purchased new prescription eyeglasses here at my local Sears store. It was helpful that the optical department was adjacent to tools. So after almost 3 months I just couldn’t get them to stay adjusted. They replaced them. But with the same frames. I tried another 8 weeks growing to hate these glasses and kinda unhappy with Sears. So I once again went back in and they suggested a different style altogether. Oh my, what a difference! The style was exactly what I was looking for in the first place. I didn’t look out for designer frames but Izod brand were quality made and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable. Great customer service wins out over 5 months of frustration. And I picked up some killer deals in tools since I was there so often. Great store all around.

Not a good place to go. The optometrist is very young and inexperience. I got the wrong frame, the wrong prescription, and not one word of apology from the optometrist. Consider paying a bit more elsewhere.

Came here for the first time Sunday, but my positive experience started Friday. Called in to check my insurance benefits, after another optometrist promised to call and didn’t. The office was busy, but the office manager said she would call back. She kept her promise by the end of the day, and they remembered me when I scheduled my appointment — nice first impression. I’m a fan of lists, so here are my positive notes from this location: 1. They have great hours. Sunday appointments are unusual, but I got one, and I don’t have to try to rush home during the week to get my eyes checked. 2. I received very friendly service from both ladies in the office. They were very attentive, and even though I called about five times the day of my exam to ask questions about lenses and coatings and things AFTER I left, they were very patient and helpful, and when they promised to call back, they did. 3. They have a friendly and informative doctor, he explained what he was doing, and answered all my questions. He even made a point of suggesting eye drops and giving a free sample to my partner, after asking if she suffered from dry eyes, with NO prompting from her! Very thoughtful! 4. Custom glasses! I have seen some reviews complain that it takes too long to get your glasses after an exam, and I guess I understand if it’s an emergency. But they actually measure the distance between your pupils, and they measure where your eye is on the lens so that the glasses are LITERALLY custom made to fit your eyes. I’ve never seen anything like that, and even though I do need my glasses, I’m willing to wait for something awesome like that. I may be naiive and they may do this everwhere now, but I’ve never seen it before. Can’t wait to see my new glasses, and I will be coming to this location for my exams every year!

I called to set up an appt on monday, to come in on tue at 230pm. When I got there, a sign was on the door«will be back by 3pm» I waited around until 3pm, and no one showed up. Decided to hang around a bit longer(15 minutes) and still no one showed up… Not pleased.

Went in to the Long Beach location to take advantage of their ‘2for’ special… This was primarily to have my mother in laws eyes rechecked… She keeps telling us that she cannot ‘see’ out of her glasses(eyes tested in San Diego 4 months ago)…She has dementia, so we are not quite sure if this is a problem —-could be that, since she has troubling ‘focusing’… Was very impressed how much time and trouble Dr. Benh Lam spent w/her… Jim was up next(had not had an eye exam since about 8 years ago!) Once again I thought Dr. Lam took great care to be very precise, was impressed w/how thorough he was ! Also Joanna the manager of the department was very professional and very helpful…2 exams and 3 purchases of eye glasses… Will return in the future !

First time at this location & not sure what to think. Here are the facts: made an appointment which was already over due, arrived 10min early to fill out paperwork(always needed for new patients), & waited an extra 30min to see the Dr. I was the only person there & then a mother & daughter showed up & were seen first. Not a good first impression. I told myself I’d wait 30min to ask if they had an appointment before me. Luckily, they were done within 30. The dr was great, friendly, informative, and my fav part quick. The receptionist & other assistant, not so much. The dr let me look for some frames while they did their thing. When I sat down with my choice of frames the receptionist & assistant first gave me pricing for a year supply of contact lenses. I asked for a RX for glasses & lenses, and had to explain to them I wanted to know pricing for my glasses first, since my insurance only covers one. They were not antcipating this. I was little upset they hadn’t asked me what I would prefer to do first. Then while going over the pricing for the glasses I see the price is over $ 140 w/the glare protection. I explain I would like to drop the glare for pricing. She points to another column to explain how much I’m paying & I have to correct her. Out of pocket cost minus glare is $ 65. I know I’m not great @ math but I know how to pay attention. They ring me up & next I find out my $ 50 copayment was not included in the cost. Awesome. The dr even asked me before if they told me what the copayment was going to be, and they decided to tell me this information last. The«best» part: 2 weeks before I can pick up my new glasses. This was also mentioned @ the end of the entire transaction. If it weren’t for the dr I probably would have given them one star. I will be going back to the Sears in Costa Mesa for my next exam. Small update: I went back for a full refund & got my new glasses at Lenscrafters because I needed them ASAP.
