I have been wanting to come here for awhile now, I always saw how elegant it looked in the inside and was very curious what type of crowd it attracts, so I finally decided to give it a try last night. I came around 9pm and the bar was still opened on a Sunday, as soon as I arrived the bartender his name is Andres greeted me with a smile. I checked out the bar and it was just like the pictures show very elegant and luxurious looking, not too much of a crowd since it was Sunday night but that didn’t bother me. Anyways great service! Thanks Andres, I will definitely be coming back.

I met my mom-in-law for a drink as she was staying here. The lounge area is nice and has outdoor seating. We were disappointed the firepit was never lit or we would have stayed longer. Drinks are on the pricier side, but you’re in a hotel bar, so I guess that’s a given. My wild flower martini was $ 15 and quite good, but more than I’d pay for a regular drinking place. There is no service outside, so you need to order in at the bar. Smoking is also allowed outside, but we had a courteous smoker who moved to the furthest section from us.

Their Screwing-Over-Tourist game is on point. Unfortunately for them, I wasn’t suffering from a cocktail of jetlag and booze enough to fall for their scam. Also, it’s a pretty unsophisticated scam. Here’s the abridged tele-play… Customer: Is this drink included in your Happy Hour specials? Wait Staff: Yes Customer: cool, I’ll have that. [End scene] [Bill Arrives] Customer: Um, this doesn’t look right. Wait Staff: OMG I’m sorry. It was a complete misunderstanding. [awkward silence] Customer: So… Can we get a new bill? Wait Staff: I’ll have to get my manager. [After a long and awkward wait the manager arrives] Manager: OMG it was a complete misunderstanding, let me take 10% off your bill. Customer: Okay but, it still doesn’t make the price what it should be according to your menu. [Manager gives a confounding explanation that starts to sound something like the adults in Charlie Brown cartoons] Customer: I just wanted to pay for what I ordered at the price on the menu. [Manager and Waitstaff confer] Manager: Okay, we can give you 15% off. Customer: That’s actually a few dollars less than what the bill should be but whatever, I’ll just think of it as a discount for having to argue the merits of paying the listed price. [End Scene] I was there for a painting event that ended at 9. I didn’t leave until 9:30 because they were trying to squeeze an extra 20 bucks out of me. Monetarily, I’m not sure it was worth arguing. It was just the principal of the thing. I should have known something was a bit shady when I overheard someone else questioning their bill. Bottom line, check your bill. They probably over charged you.

Everything is made from scratch and is absolutely delicious! Drinks are great and original. Super comfy seating. Something you wouldn’t expect from a hotel lounge. Can’t wait to bring friends and try more from the menu!

Poor service. Average food. Will not go back. We were there for a community event, which would have brought attention to the bar, lounge and restaurant, but instead proved this spot to be less than average. In an area with so many choices for food and beverages, Sip was disappointing at best.

Back in 2010 my colleagues and I discovered this place and it became my favorite because of a special cocktail: The Aviation. It is a perfect blend of Violet, Gin, and lemon and it is springtime in your mouth. We recently came back for my birthday and, sad to say, it will be my last time at SIP. Initially the waiter boasted«I’m here for you,» however was scant to be seen thereafter. After all of our cocktails were finished I had to get up to find him and ask him to come over to take our order. We waited. He finally came and half of our party ordered again. An aviation for me and vodka and pineapple for my friend. Cut to 15 minutes later I had to get out of my seat again to tell him if the drinks were not already entered for ordering, or even made not to bother and we would like the check. Oh, he pointed to the bar and said, «look, there’s one right there.» It was not my drink. Mine had not even been made yet. He came back and comped both drinks, yet mine never arrived. lesson to the bartender, do not promise something you cannot deliver. Bad to worse — upon coming home I was looking at my bank statement online and they charged me twice! Once for the full amount of our bill and the other was for the split charge. DONOTGOTOSIP is the only advise I can give. There’s a place off Pine that will make an Aviation and I have the ingredients at home. AWFUL!

My kind of bar… big(so I can get a seat instead of standing around alternating between my long leg and my short leg), loungey(south beach modern, chill atmosphere, with non-distinct beats one can talk over) but welcoming, with great service and a good pour. Personally, I’d rather hang out here than the bars of Pine Avenue, which can be full of bros and street trash.

The menu is the same at lunch and dinner which isn’t great if you’re a hotel guest and don’t feel like going off property. Service is slow and they always seem to be distracted. The prices are average for a hotel lounge but it’s a nice casual environment.

Came here this weekend for my friend’s birthday after eating dinner. This place looks pretty cool, unfortunately they close at 12am. We didn’t get to walk around the hotel/lounge area. We just mostly stayed in the lounge area. From what I heard, there was a pool table area The birthday girl ordered a drink and she couldn’t finish it. Said that it was too strong, when I smelled it it didn’t smell strong to me. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I used to do vodka and patron shots like I was drinking water.

First off, everything was comped so I cannot comment on price. TL:DR Version Lobster pops are cooked perfectly! Sword fish poached in duck fat was delicious! although i wish there was a sear on the skin(I kinda wish they kept the skin on) Pork belly was cooked on point! The chef is one of the top chef contestant from Top Chef season 9 Did not like the arugula sauce Mixed drinks are tasty! MOSTIMPORTANTINFORMATION. Whoever designed the place obviously got their ideas from Bioshock, A Modernize 1960 settings with Mafia colors and decors. Did I mention the decors also demonstrated an underwater theme?

The SIP lounge is a wonderful place to relax and hang out with friends and colleagues. The place is tastefully furnished and has a nice modern feel. The menu is limited since it’s more of a hotel lounge than a full restaurant. I would recommend having the Dungeness Crab Risotto and Salt and Pepper lobster pops.

This is the perfect spot to park your booty and have a remote work day! Grab yourself a Mexican Mule and lounge on one of the comfy couches. If you’re looking for a snack, as well, the Dungeness Crab Risotto Fritters with lemon aioli is great! It’s the perfect size for something light and has a nice crunch with every bite!

You know — after visiting a few more local spots I’ve decided this place really is more my style! Though it might first appear a bit on the dark side — they have ambient lighting including real candles burning throughout! It’s not overly loud even though they have a few TV ‘s and music playing. For me it beats the loud obnoxious places I’ve been to! The menu selection is limited, but really does have something for everyone and that means veggie lovers too! Plus they will work with you on any special needs ! OMG I just tasted my hand-crafted strawberry lemon aid the very best ever and part of the reason for the five star review! Jackie is the best too! Sometimes the best place is right down in your hotel …

Such a cute spot! So I came here for their happy hour. I love the décor and the layout is nice and open. The servers are welcoming and accommodating. I just got the Ahi Watermelon Poke which came on a wonton. That was OK and as a whole the food was fine but the DRINKS are another thing. I ordered and kept ordering the Mexican Mule which intensely gave me life! I would come here again to try more of their cocktails and sample more of their food. Caution: drinks outside of the happy hour list can be very expensive. My husband ended up paying $ 13 for Long Island Ice Tea! This place would have gotten a 3-star rating if it wasn’t for the décor and their specialty cocktails.

Well, once you figure out that it is nestled in the bosom of The Renaissance Hotel, you will park in the hotel parking, and proceed to wander in like you are getting a room… BUTYOUARENOT! Lo and behold within steps of entering and getting in the lobby, THERE sits SIP, like an OASIS suddenly appearing in the Sahara! It has APPEAL, like the choice between shivering outside watching the boulevard, or sitting inside on high backed couches and large tables whilst people watching-in my case watching 40 ‘tweens staying at the hotel from some sort of cheer competition, and feeling it was okay to be running around practicing near me! The happier appeal would be the DECOR, and the super cool WINEBOTTLEDWALL room, yes, I gave it that name… JUSTNOW. But you will know when you see it, as the room is entirely made up of BOTTLES. That would be the NON panic room! :) It is fun and cozy, and aside from an occasional businessman and random 4 way rolling wheeled luggage, you almost forget you are sitting nearly in a hotel lobby! The wait staff is attentive, but I went on a Saturday, and I guess there was a game on, or just loud roudy men near the bar. The menu is DIVERSE, but PRICEY. SADLY, the APS selection is WEAKER than that weakling in the old ads that gets sand kicked in his face by the muscular guy! If you are a VEGETARIAN, you may want to stash a couple of Power Bars in your fanny pack, there is nothing other than Hummus and Naan bread. The PEAR-LICIOUS(name may slightly deviate a tad) had my have: Vodka, Pears, and St. Germain starring in this yummy, but not to sweet drink. I highly suggest it. The damage? TWO people 2 drinks each, and two aps? $ 65…YEAH, I know! That could have fed a small village for HALF a YEAR!(I believe it is «just 2 cents a day!» right?!) I guess any repeats would call for programming HAPPYHOURS in your iCal, and being there right on the dot! As for this bar, a SIP is about all one can afford here! ;)

SIP is a bar/lounge situated inside the Renaissance Hotel in Downtown Long Beach. They have a happy hour with great drink specials($ 6CA craft beer). I had a Ballast point lager and my gf had a White Peach Sangria that she absolutely loved! Earlier in the day there was some live folk music happening, and they have a couple Tic-Tac-Toe boards you could use to play you drink. Definitely a lot more fun than playing on paper…

Located inside the Renaissance hotel, SIP is truly one of the nicest hotel bars that I’ve been to. It is very large and is a great place to come for a drink and a bite to eat. The menu has a large variety of food and they have a full bar. Happy hour is between 5−7pm. Parking: The hotel has a parking structure. The first 2 hours is free with validation from SIP and an additional fee for extra hours. Service: The service here is very attentive. I went on a pretty empty day. There must have been only a few other people located throughout the bar area. Potato chips: Served with roasted garlic crème fraîche. The chips are very crunchy and the crème fraîche tastes exactly like sour cream and onion. A great snack food while you’re drinking. Pig fries: Braised Niman ranch carnitas pork, jack cheese, jalapeño, garlic, and harissa sauce. They call it their«animal style» fries, but it tastes nothing like the regular In N Out animal fries. It’s pretty oily and really heavy. The portion size is very large so it’s a great thing to share. Overall, SIP is a great place to come. I enjoyed my time here and the best part is they make the drinks really strong. They get a plus for that! Enjoy and happy drinking!
