A unique brick-wall bar setting featuring peaceful lighting and a lively crowd. While the crowd was quite rowdy on a Sunday night(a positive sign), the food service staff navigated the restaurant well. They were quick to seat new customers, polite, attentive, inviting, and demonstrated excellent knowledge of menu options and pricing. The Reuben sandwich and Phat Wrap are highly recommended and do not disappoint. Unfortunately, I will not return to this restaurant, nor do I recommend it to prospective customers because of the actions of the bartender Sean. On two occasions, I paid to use the restaurant’s TouchTunes jukebox to play a Zac Brown Band song. Sean was evidently opposed to the song, overriding it within seconds on each occasion. Each time, he voiced unnecessarily loud and rude objections. After the second attempt, he approached the table at which my party was seated and declared, «I’m running the show, and there’s better music out there,» creating a tense and awkward situation in which a song paid for by well-meaning, non-disruptive customers was dismissed in a classless manner. While the bartender’s intention to maintain a certain atmosphere is perfectly understandable, the problem lies in the tasteless and unprofessional manner in which he conducted himself in response to a simple, patriotic, non-offensive song. His actions reflect poorly on the restaurant and the other hardworking and professional staff members. Furthermore, the presence of the TouchTunes jukebox in the restaurant was rendered pointless when the songs for which customers paid were outright rejected by the bartender. In short, there are plenty of other restaurants in the area that boast food just as enjoyable where you are more likely to be treated with respect and where the staff will not create unnecessarily awkward and off-putting situations. My sincere recommendation is to spare yourself the unpleasant staff treatment and to go somewhere in the surrounding area where your business will be appreciated, not dismissed.

Great bar with great food. Love the raw bar sampler and usually get it for dinner. $ 30 for nice sampler — can’t beat that. Very fresh too. Excellent service and good atmosphere.

Pretty bad overall, except the service with was good. First, they play different music in the bar area and the dining area, so from our table we could hear both tracks going at once, which was annoying. Also annoying that they have massive TVs everywhere but hey this is Long Island what do you expect. Second, very few vegetarian options. I got the veggie burger, which was ok. Also tasted the Mac and cheese which was disgusting, tasted like bad velveeta. Tomato bisque was just a cup of vodka sauce. Everything on the menu seemed to be cheese laden. On account of the bad velveeta and the bad ambiance(double music), I give this place 2 stars and I would not return.

Spending a gorgeous spring morning on the LB boardwalk my date and I worked up a bit of an appetite. So, where else to go but into the West end and try to find a place to lunch out. Stopped into the overcrowded Mexican place nearby, was immediately turned off. So, walking a few steps east we found Speakeasy. We were greeted cordially, politely told the wait time(which fortuitously was enough for one delicious dirty martini) and ushered to the bar to wait. The place had a good crowd, still enjoying their comprehensive brunch menu and copiously poured beverages. We settled in and not even halfway through the drink– Voila!; our table was ready! The vibe is prohibition era and I think they capture it with the photos and memorabilia festooning the walls. The waitstaff is polite, well versed and attentive, even going so far as providing me with paper and pen to scribble out some plans formulating in my head. Their menu is eclectic, pretty much covering all bases and combined with the brunch selections would satisfy anyone. My date ordered the panini burger which was done properly and presented nicely. Juiced, not dry and the bread crispy enough to offer that oh-so-good crunch. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and was pleasantly surprised as to its goodness. The ham was juicy and lean and their take — pulled pork(Pernil for the Philistines) was superbly done. Again the batard it was presented on was toasted perfectly. The shoestring sweet potato fries were awesome but a little difficult to eat with a fork, Fingers sufficed; I think chopstix would make it easier albeit not adhering to the Vibe. Drinks are well poured and measured. Overall I recommend Speakeasy to anyone looking for a place with a comprehensive menu and consistently prepared food in a campy setting.

Great drink selection and as first timers in a small town the bartender was very nice to us. The bar just seemed to have a frat house feel. Other than that it was a nice bar

The avocado fries are great and the beer selection is really great! Came for lunch and ordered the Cuban sandwich which was good but not great– a little dry and the ham was a little too thick of a cut for my liking. The back room is a great size and perfect for larger parties. Weekend brunch menu looks great– will come back for brunch & $ 3 bloody mary’s!

This bar is just a cool experience overall. Whether you’re in Long Beach just visiting or if you’re a local, Speakeasy has a certain old school ambiance that keeps you coming back. Their food is WAY above par compared to normal bar food. In fact, I wouldn’t even put them in the same category as that. Also, the draft beer list is pretty solid and you can even get a plaque on the wall if you drink 100 pints of Guinness over time. Leave your name in the book and start tallying!

Speakeasy is a cool little bar in Long Beach. They have a few craft beer options with offerings from Troegs and Stone among a few other craft breweries. They offer a few interesting appetizers to share which include avocado fries and guacamole with crab meat. The combination of innovative foods and craft beers makes Soeakeasy a nice spot to hang out in Long Beach.

Ordered: Crab guacamole Pros – They give you complimentary popcorn(the good, buttery kind) as a bread basket substitute which I thought was cute. The guacamole clearly used fresh ingredients. Cons – The chips were stale.

With more than just bar food, it’s definitely one of my favorite spots in Long Beach and quickly becoming my favorite on the West End. This place has an awesome vibe inside with its reclaimed-esque wood interior, loud fun nighttime music, the latest sporting events on big screen T.V.s, a decent tap beer selection, and delicious food. Not exactly a quiet date night spot, but great if you’re in a ‘hanging out’ kind of mood or with a group of friends. Fresh clams and oysters… Check + Buffalo wings with mixed sauces… Check + Crabmeat Guacamole… Check +++ Cheeseburger Mac n’ Cheese… Check +++

Super awesome place! Went here last night for my birthday after reading reviews on Unilocal and wanting to try someplace new. We couldn’t make a reservation because they only take reservations for 5 people or more, but the hostess had assured me when I called that we should be fine. When we got there, there were only high top tables available which I didn’t think would work for my father, when I told the hostess she said to give her 5 minutes or so and would have a regular table for us, and right she was. Based off of reviews, we started with the avocado fries and the crab guacamole and chips. I personally loved both. The avocado fries are definitely a personal preference for people due to their unique consistency/taste. I really liked them as well as the spicy/sweet Thai chili dipping sauce. The crab meat guacamole was literally out of this world. I was a bit hesitant with the crab meat and not wanting it to overpower the taste of the guac but it was soooo good! Could have had more. For dinner, I had the short rib grilled cheese with sweet potato strings. The short rib on this sandwich was crazy crazy good. So moist, truly delicious. It was huge and the potato strings were piled 10 feet high so I only had half but made sure to take the rest home. My mom got the Brooklyn style grilled cheese on the garlic bread and she said it was amazing as well. My girlfriend had the chicken taco tidbits and really liked it and my father had the caprese panini and finished it all. We also ordered an plate of the bacon cheeseburger Mac and cheese for the table which was very good, but very rich. Had I ordered it myself I don’t know if I’d be able to finish it. We didn’t splurge for dessert because we were way too stuffed. I didn’t give this 5 stars for two reasons. 1– the parking was awful. My dad dropped us off and then looked for a parking spot for the next half hour and ended up parking about a mile away. Granted it was a Friday night and you’re in long beach, totally understandable. However, it was a downer. Also, our dinner took about double the time it should have to come out. Thankfully the appetizers filled us all up and we weren’t starving. The waitress did come over and apologize a few times saying she didn’t know why it was taking so long and it would be out soon, which again, I totally get. But, it did take quite a while. Overall I will hands down be back here to try all new things. Everything on the menu looked so delicious, I can’t wait!

Very relaxed scene. Your standard bar/restaurant except for the strange music selection. However, there is a jukebox in the back which you can control from your phone… so I guess you could change it if it really bothers you. Finding parking was no easy task. However, once I got inside there was a great draft beer selection, delicious food, and both inside/outside seating. I recommend the Pretzilla and the Chicken Taco Tidbits! Solid choice if you’re looking to get away from the crowd at the more well-known places.

Speakeasy probably has to be my favorite restaurant in Long Beach. I’ve never tried something I didn’t like here and always am eager to go back! We always make sure to get the avocado fries, which are served with a Thai sweet chili sauce. I’ve tried to replicate these at home and they’re never the same… so I continue to go back and order these EVERYSINGLETIME! I’ve also had the crab guacamole, which is super delicious and fresh. They give you a generous portion of crab meat and it always tastes so incredibly fresh. Another favorite of mine are the Tuna Lettuce Wraps, which I get for an entrée. So good! They’re served with a wasabi sauce and a fish sauce with julienne carrots, zucchini and onions. It’s just the perfect amount of food for one if you’re looking for an entrée that won’t leave you feeling guilty afterward, but completely satisfied! The black bean burger is also TODIEFOR! It’s a good portioned burger served with a portobello mushroom and goat cheese that’s flash fried in panko bread crumbs. I tend to get it off of the bun and eat it with a fork and knife so I can really taste the burger without the bread getting in the way. It’s also really great with the Thai sweet chili sauce! Skip the regular fries and go right for the sweet potato shoestrings. They give you so many that you’ll have enough for a snack later on or the next day… easy to pop in the oven for about 10 minutes and DONE! Speakeasy will always be my go-to when I want to go out, but can’t think about what I’m in the mood for because it always satisfies me and I’m never disappointed! Also their service is excellent and they have a really great beer menu:)

Lunch with Tessie and Jessie! I came with Tessie, the bartenders name was Jessie and she was awesome! I checked in with my handy dandy Unilocal app and scored a free beer! We started with a pretzel, the size of my head, which I personally loved because it was doughy like bread. It came with homemade mustard sauce and beer cheese dipping sauce. Next up was a short rib grilled cheese sandwich accompanied with shoestring sweet potato fries. The braised beef was delicious! The bar was very laid back with exposed brick walls, hardwood floors and dark tones. It was the perfect place to hang out on a cold Wednesday afternoon. I imagine that it would be a great spot to grab an ice cold beer in the summer too. I’m looking forward to it!
