Decided to try this place because of the good reviews but was extremely disappointed. The food was very oily/bland and the portions was very small. I walked in, placed the order to go and was told it would be 10 minutes. I went to the my car and waited, when I walked back into the restaurant the staff tossed the bag of food on the counter and did not say a word… I asked if that was my food, she said yes and nothing else. I thought that was very rude so between the tasteless/oily food, the rudeness of the staff and the amount charged for the small portions, I will never eat here again.

Small local place. Great food. Super fresh sushi. Friendly staff and personable owners. I love this place and frequent it often. Best in the area to eat in or take out.

Food was good, but… they got my order wrong. Twice. In a half-empty restaurant at lunchtime. I’d eat here again, but I’d be hesitant to order takeout.

This is not your typical«Chinese Food». We drive from a few towns away to get our food from here. Chicken fingers are great, and they use fresh ingredients. If you are in the Enfield– East longmeadow-somers-longmeadow area make sure you give them a try!

One of the best Asian restaurants in our area for sushi, Chinese, Thai and Malaysian dishes. Food is well prepared, presented beautifully, very tasty and the service is spot on. Tom Yum soup outside of an authentic-Thai restaurant is usually a crap shoot, not here this soup rings most of the flavor notes of a superior Tom Yum and then some. Before you order the soup be advised it is fiery spicy!!! The House Special Duck is exceptional; the duck is first steamed then fried to crispy crunchy deliciousness with a very nice assortment of fresh vegetables enveloped in a delightfully tantalizing brown sauce. This little restaurant delivers top notch quality at an affordable price point.

Disappointing. We came for dinner based on the reviews and the online menu. Contrary to the posted menu there were no dinner combination plates. We ordered a la carte; two small spring rolls, General Tso chicken pork fried rice and Sechwan beef. Surprisingly none of the entrees were served with white rice. While they were served hot and promptly, the portions were small. The fortune in the fortune cookie? «You will be hungry in one hour«. This is the first time we have left an Asian restaurant hungry after the meal. We won’t be back.

After reading the reviews hubs and I decided we should give this place a try for sushi. We ordered the Kobe roll, crazy couple, Ichiban and shrimp tempura rolls. We also ordered the shumai appetizer. Unfortunately, none of it met my expectations. Overall, it was pretty mediocre. The Kobe roll was so smokey which such large pieces of lemon that it was just overwhelming. I would definitely recommend they cut back on the amount of smoked salmon and do very thin sticks of the preserved lemon to keep the bite in balance. The shumai tasted like they were mostly filler rather than mostly shrimp and the dipping sauce was pretty flavorless. Ultimately, we’ll be sticking with Ichiban as our local sushi stop. Maybe the Chinese food here is better, so don’t completely discount it if they are close to you.

This is one of my very favorite spots to meet one of my friends out for lunch, as she works over the border in CT and I work in Agawam. The food is always amazing. The service is good. I usually end up getting the Gen Tso’s tofu lunch special, but have also dabbled in their veggie sushi, and vegetable tempura. After reading some of the other reviews I’ll have to add the Pad Tai to my need to try list. The veggie sushi was amazing. Seriously some of the best I have ever had. Beautifully presented, very unique. As others have said, this place is not too greasy. The food is all prepared fresh. But, that said, it’s quick. The salad is pretty typical, but their ginger dressing is really good. I start to crave it during the times between when we come here. Lunch runs $ 7-$ 10 or so per diner. The time for a lunch is typically 20 – 30 minutes. More than enough time to eat and get out. The space is small, but it’s not as claustrophobic as you’d think. They recently added an inside door to the entryway, and got rid of the hanging curtains. This is a nice touch, but it does take away a little space in an already crowded restaurant. I love it here, and will return again and again and again.

I’m going to be completely honest and say that I definitely created my Unilocal to write a review of Iron Chef. My first time at Iron Chef was over 8 years ago, and after a 2 year hiatus from sushi, I decided that if I was going to go back to eating raw fish in the Pioneer Valley area, that I would only go to iron chef. I’ve been going now regularly for about a year and a half and I stand with the notion that this is the absolute best sushi you can get in New England. I’ve recently been traveling a lot to San Francisco, eating only at the finest sushi establishments in the city, and I’m happy to say that Iron Chef could definitely be on that list too. Their fish is THE freshest and best tasting from New York City to Boston. Granted-I’m mostly only a Tuna and Salmon eater-but their spicy tuna rolls are the most delicious I’ve ever had, and they have this wonderfully slight crunch texture inside as well. When I go in for their(very inexpensive) 3 roll lunch special… I always get 3 spicy tuna rolls and even a special roll on the side. I make sure to go in with quite an appetite! I always make sure to get their crab Rangoon too. Pretty basic, but theirs is the only crab Rangoon in any Japanese/Chinese joint that I have ever been to that has not made me physically ill afterward. Yes. the place is small-but it’s so charming! The reviews on here that give Iron Chef one Star for the space are just ridiculous. Sushi connoisseurs across the world know that the best sushi spots come in the smallest packages with the longest waits!(I do try to avoid Friday and Saturday nights because of the wait, but it’s usually not more than 20 – 30 minutes in the times that I have dined in on those nights). One of the main waitresses isn’t the absolute happiest she could be, but hey-I get it-you’re not always going to be thrilled serving food to people in Longmeadow(one of the reasons I’ve avoided being a waitress myself!) I live in Northampton, a town with over 6 Sushi restaurants in a half mike radius. The only other sushi restaurant that can compare is Zen on Main St in Northampton, but despite that being the case, I always prefer to choose to drive a half hour to Longmeadow for Iron Chef. As long as I live in Massachusetts, Iron Chef will definitely be the place I will go to get the freshest sushi around.

Although the food was ok, the restaurant is extremely small and very dark, portion size is also very small for the price you pay

I think we found our new favorite sushi/chinese restaurant. Last night we went to Iron Chef instead of our regular Osaka in noho because it’s closer and we wanted to catch the movie in time. I had nigiri sushi dinner(assorted sushi and California roll) and unagi sushi. The fish were fresh. California roll is good bite size. Unagi sushi was moist and tender. My boyfriend had chicken portobello and Osaka roll. I didn’t try his Osaka roll but I bet it’s good. I had some of his chicken portobello and it’s really good. The chicken was soft and tender. The portobello looks fresh but my only complaint is that the sizes are not consistent. Some were cut bite size, some were really big. No big deal though We’ll definitely come back

It’s the freshest, best tasting chinese food I have ever had that’s why I give them 5 stars. I wish portions on the appetizers were a little bigger though. The restaurant is very small, I’ve only eaten in there once. It is now the only take out chinese we eat in our house !

Small quaint restaurant in an unappealing plaza has surprisingly excellent sushi! Their Pad Ti is the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. Owner Michael is always overseeing the small dining area and is known to bring complimentary goodies to new and regular customers alike! They do not deliver and I wouldn’t want them too! Quality is always lost in transportation which would hurt reviews from people that don’t get out and only order delivery. Best Chinese and Japanese food in the area!!!

I stopped by Iron Chef from the reviews and it was a good choice! The PROS –service was prompt and friendly –food tastes fresh and the sushi rolls were awesome –easy to find parking –friendly staff –good variety on the menu of chinese/japanese cuisine –vegan/vegetarian friendly The CONS –I think putting iceberg lettuce under a seaweed salad is odd/not a good idea This was a good spot that I would definitely return to!

After some disappointing attempts to find a decent sushi place in the area, I found this unassuming gem! It’s clearly the winner by even the number of people who show up there. And it’s tiny. But I like the small atmosphere. It’s cozy and they do the sushi well. I like they are not gargantuan sushi pieces. Less rice, more stuff. Also the price is far better than other places for simple rolls. $ 4.50 average. They also have great looking Chinese, Thai, and Malaysian style dishes. Someone had a duck dish next to me that looked amazing! Their eggplant Malaysian style is great! I want to try other Chinese dishes bc I think they would be better than the average Chinese take out.(Although Peking Express in Enfield does a pretty nice job.) Anyways I am so happy to find this place! I always come back to them even after trying other places. They are consistently good! Although it’s not the best I’ve ever had(come from NYC after all!) they get a 5 star rating for the area! PS: If you ask, they have baby bok choy and pea shoots even though it’s not on the menu. Not cheap(ask the prices), but they do have them. And it’s a good sized serving!

Highly recommend. Small(quaint), great selection, ingredients seem high quality. Meals aren’t «greasy»(unless you order fried items of course). Japanese and Thai options. Fresh sushi, and a sushi bar made in front of you. Manager/owner is attentive and responsive. We are regulars here, best Chinese in the area, highly recommend.
