The pictures on the wall of the take out place looked good but once I got home and tried it/it was ok. The duck meat tastes decent but the skin was chewy not crispy. I doubled up on the spicy salad instead of the potato salad, that was a mistake the spicy salad was mainly raw onions with a bit of radish and cucumbers(very little) too much onions. The soup that came with it was bland I threw that away. Would I go back again, no not for the duck, I may go back again for the pork belly maybe that’s better. This is just a shack basically that’s all to go only. They do have like 3 seats that’s like a bar stall outside. The lady who took my order was really nice. I just didn’t also like the fact that the duck was made previously and reheated could tell if it was a microwave or a convection one and the heated the duck before packaging my order. P.S my food looked nothing like the pictures on Unilocal my rice only had 3 little small pieces of squash, there was no dates and other stuff people describe on Unilocal

If you appreciate simple hole in the wall dining this place is a must. Duck was delicious as were the sides. The place is just a little stand in the parking lot, it doesn’t get much simpler. Spots like this are what make LA great.

We came around 2pm on a Saturday for the duck lunch special. The wait time once you order is about 15 minutes, I think the woman was grilling it to order which is great. It wasn’t as smoky as I anticipated which was a good thing. Loved the duck broth soup that comes with it. Potato salad wasn’t my favorite. But the duck was not too fatty, some little crispy bits, and really hit the spot with some kimchi and kabocha rice. The mustard sauce is a great addition.

The duck plate was not served as advertised. I was the first customer and she took the duck out of the refrigerator, heated it up in the microwave and sliced it. I did not get the sweet rice with dates and mushrooms. I got white rice with a tiny bit of pumpkin in it. I did not get cucumber/radish salad, I got onion salad. The red and yellow mustard sauces for the meat make it taste good and the soup is clean and healthy tasting. So I found out that other Korean restaurants, like Sun Ha Jang, make bbq duck which is probably better. I’ll try that restaurant next time.

Well that was a bust… We did arrive 30 mins before it closed but I mean c’mon! Let us know what you run out of before you just agree to serve us our food! We ordered 2 tacos and the duck plate. The duck soup was watered down, there was no potato salad, and the the rice wasn’t the mushroom rice, it was plain white rice. I saw her cook the meat. She microwaved the meat. Ok… I know I came 30 mins before closing but it was just not appealing after seeing that. Just threw away half the meal and was burping disgusting duck residues while heading to mcdonalds for something to get this taste out of our mouths. Sorry…timing may have been bad but for now, I don’t want to eat here anymore. Don’t go to this place when it’s just the one lady working by herself and don’t go 30 mins before it closes.

Preety nice place, i loved how they had a big machine to cook all of there meats and nothing was taken out of a bag. All the foods are slow food and healthy. Really cheap(if you think about it for duck, usually wholesale raw price is really expensive) loved the old lady, loved the duck. The duck is really good and every once in a while you can see the lady making it herself.(stuff is real) i get that there isnt much seating but i thought it was a neat experience to sit on the chairs and listen to all the noises outside.

This was okay. I wouldn’t say it was the best duck that had. Soup was good. Duck was good.

The duck was flavorful but I’m not sure I’d order it again. It felt a bit heavy with the rice and the cold potatoes. Overall it was just okay.

I would have ranked WellQ lower for the fact that you can’t sit in and eat… but the food is just too good to give it less than 5. This place is a real treat! I tried it for the first time last year and I’ve been a repeat customer ever since! I had no idea about this place until my Korean co-worker recommended grabbing some take-out for our meeting. I think it’s still a bit less known than it should be, so try it while the line up isn’t around the block. Seriously, you’ve never had duck like this! It’s delicious, not too heavy, and ample portion sizes. It’s definitely not fast food, so don’t expect to order, grab, and go, but it’s worth the bit of a wait. Totally recommend!

Takes long, but the food is tasty. The lady working there by herself was very sweet. It’s a shack in the middle of a parking lot, and there’s no place to sit down. It’s not a place to take someone, but to pick up takeout. You’ve been forewarned.

YUMYUMYUM! Really delicious duck. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I ordered the medium sized duck which comes with the sweet rice, duck broth, spicy korean cucumber onion salad, and a couple sauces. The proportion was perfect for me and my husband and we have big appetites. My favorite out of the meal, besides the obvious duck, was the broth. It has this richness to it that makes you feel like you’re being hugged from the inside as it goes down your throat. Seriously, that good. And the owner is so so sweet and nice. You can tell right away she loves what she’s doing. I recommend ordering by phone before you go as it can take some time to get ready.

I’ve never had Korean prepared duck before. Why not try it at a place that specializes in it? WellQ Wood Grilled Duck is located in the same complex as Mountain Café. It’s smack dab in the middle of the already too small parking lot. The business is this cute little shack of a building. Opposed to the connotations that arise with the word shack everything at WellQ is clean and well organized. They focus on healthy food and healthy food generally is doled out in clean, well organized environments. Everything is prepped for you to take to-go. There is no seating unless you want to take the duck back to your car and eat it in the parking lot. The duck is grilled over wood and tastes very light and healthy. I don’t think they prep the duck on site. I can’t imagine the shack has the facilities for that so I’m assuming this is more like the spot where they deal out their duck. The flavors are more subtle than Chinese Peking duck but delicious in it’s own way. I love the Korean rice that accompanies the meal. It’s got bits and bobs of delicious things that I’m unfamiliar with. Upon further research I found out that the bits and bobs are dried dates and danhobak, which is «sweet golden pumpkin that Korean people put in desserts and savory dishes.”(per fellow Unilocaler Kathleen C) Their lunch special is fantastic and priced at under $ 11. The clientele is mostly Korean, so word has yet to spread about the delicious, unusual eats available in this little spot.

Awesome bbq duck. Smoked flavor cooked to perfection. Tender and juicy with the right amount of meat to duck fat(where all the flavor is). This is not a sit down restaurant. You just pick up from a small stand in the parking lot and take it to go. They’re closed from 3:00 — 5:00. I highly recommend if you’re in the mood for poultry. Also they have rotisserie chicken for $ 12. But why get chicken from a duck place? Get the duck! They also have coffee and boba but I did not try these items. They close at 8.

This is the best duck I have ever had in my ENTIRELIFE! There is a little hut in a small plaza where you can find the most delicious duck EVER! If you think rotisserie chicken is good, you MUST try this duck!!! They infuse great flavors into the duck and grill it over wood. The meat is really cooked to perfection with a little bit of crisp on the outside, a nice chewiness in the middle and the soft, tender meat on the inside. If you order the meal, it comes with this delicious sweet rice with dried dates and danhobak, which is this really sweet golden pumpkin that Korean people put in desserts and savory dishes. The meal also comes with duck soup, which is super flavorful! If you don’t want to eat it with the duck, you can save it for later and combine the two in a pot and make porridge! OMG its such a great breakfast. Finally, the meal also comes with pickled daikon radish, onion, and cucumber. It’s a little spicy but its really crispy and very refreshing. It’s the perfect compliment to the very savory duck. Now, I must warn you that the meal is a little expensive… but it really is a delicacy so I personally don’t mind paying this much. It’s $ 40 for the meal. BUT you can share this with 3 people because they give you a lot of meat. Maybe guys can share it between 2 people but I think 3 people can still be full by sharing. There is a lunch special with a smaller portion of the duck and that is $ 10. The lunch special comes with all of the sides that I mentioned but in a much smaller portion. I think it would be better to just buy the meal and share it amongst your friends. They also sell the rice and soup separately if you want extra. Another perk is that they take all the bones out for you so you just get the meat with your order! How awesome is that?! Overall this place is really really delicious and I highly recommend you all try it! Did I also mention that they don’t use MSG? O_O
