My ever lovely friend Shannon has captured Thursday night at the wonderful venue Boardners for her special dance-​music-​GoGo-​SciFiArt event CHROME. It was wondrously eccentric & delightful night to celebrate cyber-​punk Mohawks, futuristic fashion, and electronic dance music!
THE SETUP
Imagine a futuristic venue where cutting-​edge artists come together and collaborate with da bomb DJs all mixing an atmosphere accentuated & punctuated by the sexy, beautiful movements of Futuristic GoGo dancers. Well, guess what? You don’t have to IMAGINE it anymore because now it is REALITY!
CHROME descended upon Boardner’s entire space — the two fabulous dance-​area rooms with the main bar, the upstairs parlour and two side parlours!
IMAGINATION & INSPIRATION = CHROME!
As long as I’ve known Shannon (aka «Chromegirl», her dancing moniker — and out of respect to her, I won’t say how long *ha!*), she has always has been a muse of outstanding creativity where the arts and the spirit intersect. At the 2005 Coachella music festival which we hit together, Shannon had always expressed a strong desire in having an event night which combines so many art elementals together, and CHROME succeeds so beautifully at this.
THE ARTIST GALLERY & CORRIDOR
As soon as you enter into CHROME, you are greeted by many talented artists who not only have beautiful works on display & being exhibited, but who are also actively engaged in creating new art. Even on-​the-​spot-​portraits of YOU at your request! This was utterly fantastic and fun.
THE MUSIC
DJ Cyber Slutz (Studio 69) and DJ Corpse Toe (Wasteland Weekend) led the ELECTRO HOUSE — DUBSTEP in the Main Room. My buddy DJ John C. (Bar Sinister led the INDUSTRIAL — GOTH — DARKWAVE — SYNTHPOP on the Patio.
GO-​GO-​MANIA!
Shannon fashioned her personally-​designed costumes on all of her GoGo dancers — Neon-​lighted AND See-​Through *he fans himself furiously!* — and Shannon Chromegirl danced in/​on the center box! «Stunning», «Exquisite», «Gorgeous», «Breathtaking», etc. etc., are only a few words to describe what requires a NOVEL to fully convey the beauty of these ladies.
