I would LOVE to book Cod Save the Queen Truck for an upcoming event in Los Angeles, however after weeks of trying to contact them, I’m having zero luck! :( I’ve tried their website– not working. I’ve called– no answer, or voicemail. Just keeps ringing. Are they still in business? If Anyone has any info on how to get in touch with them, please let me know!!! Thank you!

I’m from New England, where we take for granted how good a simple fish and chips plate is. This is the best I’ve had on the west coast. Great batter and cooked perfectly. Tried it out one night on Abbot Kinney and was not dissapointed. Wish they would head over my way more often… hint hint

Yummy. Fresh. Fried. Brit grub. Brit candies. Brit sodas– I can’t find these anywhere else! YES!!! The guy in the truck is adorable! He calls you love and darling when the food takes a while to get out– I can’t get mad at him– even if I wanted to! He’s just so polite and charming :) It’s freshly fried fish so yea, you might have to wait a bit. As with all food trucks, you run the risk of a sell out. Don’t bitch about the truck if you didn’t even get to try the food. You should just follow the truck on Twitter and get there before everyone else! I’m sick of reading complaints from lazy assholes that didn’t eat the food but just want to use Unilocal to gripe about their poor timing. The fish was fluffy, moist and flavorful. I drenched it in malt vinegar and went to town. I didn’t get the chips because I don’t really eat carbs. Man, I can’t wait to try the other stuff they offer. Battered dipped and fried sausage anyone? Oh and the truck itself is a masterpiece– yes, you know which infamous album cover they are riffing– kinda wished the Queen would be replaced with an actual cod wearing a crown… Check out their band flyers and I’m sure the guy in the truck is blasting some cool tunes as you wait. I heard The Smiths and smiled when I heard the staff sing along. I wonder if he likes The Stranglers?

Cool concept. I was on the 720 going to an appointment and I saw this truck parked on the other side of Wilshire. Brightly covered in the Union Jack and using a play on words on the traditional God Save the Queen. How could I not stop? The fish and chips were okay, I asked the guy(Max) who was working there and he told me they were relatively new(started at Cochella), so I’m not going to shoot them in the foot because of the fish and chips. For $ 10 i got a good portion of sea salted chips and 3 pieces of Cod. As H and N mentioned in their review I do also wish that the batter would have been a little crispier. It was boarderline soggy when I caught them — but I did do so near the end of the lunch time, and as Dawn W. shows different people have different batter preferences(she thought it was perfect I thought it needed work). What bumped them to four stars then you ask? The fact that they serve some of the best British sweeties and pops(sodas) around. It was $ 2 for a selection of British pop which included Dandelion and Burdock, Vimto, Apple Tango, and a few others(all worth it! However, it makes me sad to realize they’re only 45p in the motherland). American sodas(aka Coke, Sprite, etc) were only $ 1. $ 2 is a really good price though for British sodas in America. They also had some amazing sweets(candies) on selection. Maltesers(which are like Whoppers, but mindblowingly better), Revels, and Blackpool Rock(which I haven’t had since I was a kid) were some of the highlights. Blackpool Rock is an old seaside treat and being a kid I’d always get it after days out at the beach. It is pepperminty and a similar concept to candy canes except the outside is hard and the inside is porous. You should really try it. Also, the staff was friendly and they take cards with no additional surcharge. You can also add tips to your card purchase. Next time I think I’ll try the bangers(sausage). If they are legitimate British ones I may just have to follow this truck e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e!

Caught this truck at So. Weddington Park for lunch. Now I didn’t expect that their fish would be as good as what I got in English Pubs. But it was pretty good. I do feel that the crust could have been a little crispier. I think they need to raise the temperature of their oil slightly because while the wasn’t as crispy as I like it the fish inside was almost overcooked. But that’s not to say I didn’t like it. The crust and the fish were very tasty. I had the Fish Buddy,(sandwich), and chips. Great fries! The sanwich itself was good and in my opinion would be better if the roll it was on was slightly toasted. I’m assuming since this truck is fairly new that they are still working out things so I’ll give them something for that. Overall, meal was good, portions were generous and I was satisfied. This food is good.

This truck is brilliant. As the child of a British father, who was born & raised on Cape Cod I have eaten MORE than my share of fish and chips in my 44 years. Though my preference for the fish in my Fish and Chip is Halibut, this Cod was thick and moist and generously portioned, with a delicate tempura style batter that seemed to hint at a faint mysterious sweetness. I had mine with salad instead of chips…(as dinner last night was a bucket of popcorn and raisinettes) splashed on a little extra vinegar(as you do) and the combination was delightful. There is also a generous selection of uncommon and delicious sweets to pair with your fried fish fare. Laura La Belle,(the captain of this Brit Barge) even came down and offered her guidance and expertise in this department — suggesting I try a LION bar… a new one for me — and it was seriously inhalable.(basically a TWIX dipped in chocolate and peanuts = yum) Great friendly people in a fun, festive truck with a cheeky sense of silly serving generous portions of seriously delicious food. What’s not to like?

I was really excited to try out this truck. But as I approached the guy at the truck rudely told me the weren’t taking any more orders. WHAT!!! It’s freaking at the height of the lunch hour and your not taking orders! Word of advice when it comes to serving food of a lunch truck. Make sure you don’t run out of food! I would have understood the lack of food at oh maybe 1:30 but at 12:30 come on. Will ever I try this truck? Doubtful, your hipster workers and/or owners ruined it for me. You’ll never get my cold hard cash!

I had the fish and chips and it was amazing. The fish was light and flaky and really great chips as well. I will keep looking for these guys!

3.5 stars rounded up since it’s 1 month old. Not sure where this food truck is HQ, but I ate outside Robert Reynolds Gallery in DTLA. There was a BritWeek graffiti battle going on between Man One and Mear One(LA) vs. Eine and Inkie(London.) The food on offer was all with chips(aka fries) — Cod, Shrimp, Salmon cakes all priced at $ 10. And bangers(aka sausages) with chips for $ 9. The truck had prices in UK pounds and US dollars which was cute, but what were they going to do with the UK coins and notes?! The chef and one of the servers were from England. And the salmon cakes were homemade and coated in panko. Those were very good — one of the best and hardly needed the lemon wedge that came with it. However, I was surprised that the chips were the fat frozen kind. I think homemade would’ve been better — obviously more work. If In n Out can do it… why not anyone else? There was only bottled water — no tap water available, but overall this is a solid food truck that’s low on frills and fancy menus.
