Came here for brunch with my boyfriend. I had the carnita hash and he had a breakfast sandwich. Tasted very good. Quick service and bottomless $ 8 mimosas with a $ 15 meal. On the down side I think It gave me upset stomach later in the day. Maybe next time I won’t order the pork!

So I was walking down the street and hadn’t planned on dining here, but just decided to on a whim. As a vegan trying to stay vegetarian at least in a sea of meat selections on the menu, I think I did pretty well. The place was full of people, so it seems like a popular joint. I made it simple, I ordered a plain bagel with a side of their herb cream cheese, a bowl of fruit with their mint yogurt and a cup of for the coffee I didn’t like the roast they used, it had a slight instant coffee«taste» to it. I had no issues with anything of the food I had. I like the fruit bowl, especially the diverse selection of fruit that were used and the yogurt was good as well. Since I don’t eat like a normal person this review is probably not very helpful, but they did have a nice looking meat selection of items to choose from.

I came here with my sister, and my parents for my mom’s birthday. We ordered the cauliflower, the octopus, the toast, the seafood stew, the mushroom pasta, and my dad got the fried chicken. It is rare that every dish is delicious, at cooks county it was. EVERYTHING was so so good and flavorful. We could not believe the flavor and the plating of each dish. We were so impressed. The ambience is great, and they have an option to sit outside. My one and only complaint is that their happy hour was only at the bar-I couldn’t deduct a star for this because everything else was so great. But, I think they should change that, because most places don’t do it that way and it discourages coming for drinks and appetizers with a large group. Can’t wait to come back!

I now understand why everyone is always going on about farm to table dinning. We stumbled on this place by accident really because it was convenient to park. Found a killer spot across the street. We weren’t really looking to have an expensive dining experience. But soon after we ordered the manchego cheese plate and pork belly appetizer, we knew we couldn’t just stop there. Although expensive, I LOVE the sparkling water they carry. The Hildon Water. Why is it so good? Maybe I just like the bottle, its pretty. non the less I like it and will continue to order it regardless of the price, I’m a sucker for a pretty bottle. Did you know everything on the menu comes from butchering out one super pig? We wanted to order the shoulder which according to our server was the PRIME choice. But by the time we decided to order it, it was sold out. Wah Wah so we ordered the tenderloin instead. It came with grilled peaches and the sauces that accompanied were delicious. We brought my pup Tcharlie and sat outside which was welcomed. Our server was very dog friendly and courteous to Tcharlie, although no water bowl was offered. Which is not a deal breaker per say, I just really appreciate when places offer, as a gesture. I look forward to returning again to try more of the delicious plates at Cooks County!

I like coming here for dinner and for the Monday Fried Chicken Specials. It’s a very nice intimate wine bar /restaurant. They also changed the décor and added a bar which we liked. It feels like a wine bar, but function more like a restaurant with appetizers and main courses. The staffs(especially Tom and Meg) are very friendly and its my friends(the Rosens) favorite local restaurant. We came for the Monday Fried Chicken special and we sat at the bar. This time it was really special! Tom served us the Proseco once we sat down which also was very refreshing on a hot summer day in LA. HH Kale salad — 5 stars(all their different kale salads are good) Whole Fried Chicken — 5 stars(this time it was perfect! Very moist, tender, and tasty) Side of mashed potato — 5 stars(very tasty) Beignets — 5 stars(OMG! So good!!!) Stoller Chardonnay — 5 stars(I liked that they served it in a balloon wine glass, which is a very nice and impressive) Cappuccino — 5 stars I am a fan of Cooks County for years. I like the décor, ambiance, food and the staff. I will continue to come and taste this urban rustic cuisine.

There is nothing not to like about this joint. Rolled here with the whole family for a late brunch– we purposely fed the kids a light breakfast at home then lounged around the house drinking coffee with plans to roll out for Brunch/Lunch after the Sunday rush. It was perfect. We got here around 2pm and got a table for 4. Service was good, but the food was excellent! My 9 year old son said to me TWICE–«This is the BEST pancake I’ve ever had.» And believe me, the boy knows him some flapjacks because that’s all he ever orders when we go out. I had the Pork & Hash which was great, and my wife got the kale salad with a side of Grilled Bread which was awesome. The décor of the place is nice too, though it’s smaller than I thought it would be. I’m glad we came late because I bet the wait for a table at 11 or 12 is pretty bad. We’ll be back for sure.

Incredible Restaurant ! Dined in on a Friday night and it was rather empty which is sometimes a tale sign if a place is good or not. I am not sure of the back story of the place but I think it is fairly new. However, once we started eating, it was like magic in my mouth ! For starters: We enjoyed the Grilled Octopus(EXCELLENT), Duck Fat Yams(Which to my surprise, very good !!), Heirloom tomatoes and also the Charcuterie board(Who doesn’t love Cheese !?!) Next course was even better ! We enjoyed the following: Wild Salmon with potatoes(so flippin good !!), Half roasted Chicken(was perfectly prepared and the portion was a good size for us to split among the 4 of us) and the Grass-fed Flat Iron Steak — Delicious !!! I didn’t think it could get any better ! All of the dishes were nicely prepared and was a decent portion. Moderately and reasonably priced too ! Indulged with the Brown Butter Beignets for dessert. These just melt in your mouth. I was a little disappointed when they didn’t have any port selection at this time which was on the menu. I really love a nice port wine with dessert but instead got another glass of Pinot Noir and the Manager surprised us all with Moscato for the table :) More wine always puts a smile on my face, LOL. My boyfriend and his friends enjoyed some beer that was said to be really good and was served in a wine glass. I am not a beer fan so I can’t recall the name. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a new place to try and all locally sourced restaurant ! I would most definitely come back ! Thanks for a great dinner !

We came here for the bottomless mimosas and a good bite. The food was super tasty. I had the pork belly and quinoa. To tell you the truth my eyes wandered when I saw my friends’ burgers BUT when I sank my teeth into that pork belly all jealousy left my mind! They are generous with the drinks and very kind here. I’ll definitely return.

Very disappointing. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I’ve been here for dinner a couple of times and the food is ok. Not knock your socks off amazing, but it wasn’t horrible. We were in the neighborhood so we decided to try it for lunch thinking it’d be better. Unfortunately, our lunch was a mess. The restaurant wasn’t busy but the service was inattentive and moved at a snail’s pace. My drink order wouldn’t have gotten delivered at all if I hadn’t reminded the waiter. Totally willing to over look that if the restaurant was packed but it wasn’t and the rest of the meal got worse from there. The fries came out 20 minutes before our entrees came out. We didn’t want that as an appetizer we wanted that to be a side to the burger, but now we have to eat it or it’ll be cold and who wants cold fries? When the 2 entrees finally came out. The clams and mussels were a little rubbery. Some were gritty and sandy, I thought maybe I had chipped my tooth, but it was the burger that was the bigger offender. My husband asked for medium burger, it came out raw. Raw. Our waiter was nowhere to be found so we had the hostess grab another waiter so he could it back and order a new one. This took a while so now one of us has to eat while the other one watches. That’s exactly how we all want to eat our lunch, no? One person at a time? 25 minutes later, I’m done with my lunch and the burger finally emerges from the kitchen. Of course, it’s now over cooked to the point where the patty is hard like a hockey puck. It was either a big f-you from the kitchen or maybe they really just weren’t capable of cooking a burger. Neither is good. I think it’s safe to say that this one is off our list. There are a lot of restaurants in this city. The menu/food/service at Cooks County are not amazing enough to make up for its shortcomings.

My friend and I were running errands around the area so we decided to choose a restaurant close by. We came 7pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately. We chose to sit outside next to the heaters. I would like to point out that their menu is, for some reason, very difficult to understand. They didn’t have their items separated as «appetizers, sea, land, etc» so my friend and I had trouble figuring out what portion sizes to expect. In the end we looked at the prices to guess which ones were appetizers – customers really shouldn’t have to do that. The menu is also difficult to understand because the descriptions of the dishes weren’t really clear. After 15 minutes of looking at the menu, we were finally able to decide which dishes to order. We got 2 appetizers, 1 main, and 1 dessert to share: 1) P O R K B E L L Y This dish comes with two pork bellies with some pesto sauce. We thought the pork belly was really nice and fatty except it was a little over grilled so it became a bit dry. Overall this dish was still delicious and I would recommend you to try this. 2) A V O C A D O & B U R R A T A This dish comes with half an avocado, burrata cheese, some radish, and small pieces of bread. I thought that there was too much avocado and too little bread, although I thought the avocado-burrata pairing was a wonderful idea. The radish did add interesting textures to every bite of creamy burrata. Overall the flavors in this dish really worked well together. Yum! 3) G R A S S F E D I R O N S T E A K This was our favorite dish of the night. At first when the waiter brought this out we were a bit stunned because everything on the plate was put on one side – kind of like someone accidentally tipped the plate over and the steak and sauce fell to one side, LOL. But then we realized it was plated this way intentionally… interesting. The steak was cooked medium rare, and as a result the meat was perfectly tender and juicy. Must get! 4) B R O W N B U T T E R B E I G N E T S To close off a great dinner, we shared the Brown Butter Beignets. The beignets were toasty, fluffy, and fresh out of the oven – the smell of the cinnamon made me so happy. It came with warm chocolate sauce, and we requested for some cream to go with it. The waiter was super nice and didn’t charge us for the extra cream! Perfect finale! P A R K I N G: There isn’t a parking lot or anything nearby so you’d have to find street parking which is pretty difficult during dinner times. So allow yourself extra time to find parking!

Found this place in the«Where Chefs Eat» book. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for quality and detail. Exactly where you would expect a chef to eat! I went for brunch on a Sunday. Called a couple hours ahead to make a resy, but there were plenty of tables open around noon. A lot of people also stayed to chat and I never felt rushed to get out. Service was impeccable as well. I had the fried eggs with creamy polenta and herbed crème fraîche. I also ordered a side of bacon. The meal was so delectable and full of flavor. It’s hard to find perfect polenta, but Cooks is in the A game with that. All of the flavors on the plate just blended so well together. I especially loved the sweetness that the tomato jam provided with the savory crème fraîche. Looking forward to taking an out-of-towner here because it does definitely impress. Stoked to try dinner here too.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Cooks County with a client. I’ve been fortunate to have the kinds of clients who appreciate a great dining experience and this one was amazing! This is the kind of restaurant that you immediately feel comfortable coming to. If I lived in the area, I’d be happy to sit at the bar by myself or to come with friends and spend a few hours working my way through their creative small plate dishes. They truly have something for everyone. We tried a few different things and everything was delicious but for me, the stand outs were: Burrata and avocado: surprisingly fresh and light Kale and Farro Salad: perfectly dressed and the hard boiled egg and capers made you forget it was a salad Duck breast: this duck was life changing and so good we ordered another. It was perfectly prepared — tender with crispy skin. The duck confit hash, cherries, and hazelnuts added extra texture and took this dish over the top. I would recommend Cooks County to anyone wanting to have an outstanding meal in a relaxed environment with great service. I cannot wait to go back for that duck!

Cooks County sounds like a place in a Midwest… Sort of. Interesting theme for a restaurant that has a menu composed mostly of Italian dishes and some American. We came here on a rainy weekend evening for dinner the other day. It’s nice and cozy inside with candlelit tables, dim lighting, and red interior and. The hostess was very warm as we were seated promptly. The menu is broken down to three courses. Small and large plates and dessert. Dishes here all cooked on a wood fire grill from local sourced produce and whole animal butchery. For starters, my sidekicks and I ordered the pork belly which was perfectly crispy and tender. Served with a green garlic salsa verde and freshly grated horseradish. This dish was delicious. Just wish there was more. For our main dishes, we ordered a few entrees. Clams in a tomato, chili, fennel, leek broth that came with a buttered crostini was good but not great either. The Bucatini with pancetta, pecorino, and bottarga was light lemon butter pasta dish. Pancetta in chunks was a abundant but added too much salt for this dish. Good nonetheless. Grassfed flat iron steak with arugula, carrots, onions and saba was a bit plain and nothing to cheer about. The best dish was the duck breast which was pan roasted with crispy skin and served with quinoa, purple broccoli, parsnip, pickled beets and pistachios. A bit overpowering on the vinegary side but very good. Duck was cooked perfectly and the pickled beets gave it great flavor. The dishes were very well plated and presented well. The dishes here are good but what makes this place even better is the service which is top notch. Andreas our waiter was a great help with the menu and wine list. One of my sidekicks thought this place was Napa Valley winetasting off the menu. Andreas was patient with us making sure our experience was the most importance. Francisco was also very attentive replenishing our utensils and keeping our glasses full. Definitely worth the experience.

Came without any expectations, and left with higher expectations for other restaurants… in terms of brunch that is. My friends and I came for a late brunch this past Sunday afternoon, and seriously, everything we ordered was super yummy. Look at descriptions below. Market scramble, broccoli, burrata & roasted onion(Perfect combination) Fried eggs, creamy polenta, roasted tomato & herb créme fraîche.(The polenta was indeed creamy and perfect. This was my favorite dish.) Braised pork hash, roasted potatoes, tomato, herbs & sunny-side up egg(Tender, flavorful goodness. I really liked the toast and scooped up all the sauce with it.) Bread.(Chewy, crispy, buttery, enough said.) Hand-cut French fries(crispy, savory) The only bummer was they ran out of pancakes, which I was looking forward to, and the restaurant closed at 3:00 p.m., so my girlfriends and I had to continue our conversation elsewhere. Otherwise, it was a lovely Sunday afternoon.

aw, bummer i had cooks county on my bookmark list forever but never went because mid-wilshire is just one of those areas that i rarely frequent or think of when it comes to going out my way for a meal but i ended up being in the area for brunch one day and we ordered the braised beef hash and the polenta/poached egg/kale dish and two coffees the service was slow the hash came out cold and was quite possibly one of the least visually appealing dishes i’ve come across the polenta/egg dish was pretty tasty but was also lukewarm the coffee was watered down definitely not worth the $$ off my list

Food: 5 stars Service: 4 stars Wait Time: none. We got there on a Saturday at 11am. However when we left around 12noon, it was packed. You have the option of calling in and putting your name down. I had the pork belly confit hash with 2 eggs which was delightful. It was very well flavored with seasoning but yet I was still about to taste the freshness of the pork belly. Combined with the over easy egg, it was perfection. My friend had the breakfast sandwich. It is a burger sized sausage patty(which for me when I think sausage patty I think a small thin patty). When I saw that I thought«too much meat and the flavoring will be off balance» BUT I was wrong. The patty and the over easy egg went together well. It came with a side of mixed greens as a salad too so if you wanted veggies in the sandwich you can put some in, but I don’t know why you would. We ended our meal with a pecan sticky bun. It was basically a warm fresh out of the oven muffin topped with pecans and a syrup. I only ate half, and I thought that was good enough for me(I wouldn’t have eaten more because of the portion) BUT my friend said he would have eaten the whole thing and ordered more :) Now, you might be wondering why I gave them 4 for service. I’m really on the fence about this rating because the server was nice. I think he could have been more helpful as to telling us about the menu(what’s good, what’s the fan favorite, etc) Also, at some point I thought either the kitchen was really behind or he forgot our order. BUT this doesn’t change the overall score of a 5 because the food is delicious.

My friend recommended this place and I must say I was not disappointed. They have a delicious brunch menu with delicious homemade pastries which are excellent. They pretty much change up the menu every day so you always get to try something different and it never gets boring. The food is always so tasty and fresh. They always seem to have the Idaho Trout on the menu and I highly recommend it. The waiters are also very helpful if you ask for recommendations so don’t hesitate to ask. Great place for a group of maybe 3 – 5 people. The service is excellent and they are very accommodating.

I met up here with a family group for brunch on a Sunday, and the advantage of coming with a large® group is that you get to sample more stuff. In this case, it was the pastry basket that was brought out to a table of people who eschew pastries, bread, and carbs at all costs. Not me! I love pastries, and these were worth trying. For my meal, I ordered the fried eggs on a recommendation, and it was excellent. A cappuccino rounded out a well-balanced meal. And best of all, I scored parking across the street.

Returned for a group dinner on a Thursday evening with a party of 7. Service was superb; they really made a perfect impression a year ago as well as this past visit. The pork shoulder pasta is a must order as well as any dessert. Overall crowdpleaser. Mondays are now fried chicken night so will have to come back!
