I showed up there today around 2, and the place was not busy. The woman who was running the business complained that yesterday they were so busy they ran out of most dumplings, only leek filled were left. Busy is good I might add. Well, not today. So I ordered the steamed pork round dumplings, but they were out. Then I had a smaller #4 dumplings with pork, and they were ok except I felt the wrapper was a little tough around the edges. Also, I didn’t feel that I was totally full, so I took an order of their king dumplings(#1 on the menu) to go. That did the trick — after I got home and polished off my parcel I am still not hungry 2 hours later. Next time I’ll stick with #1 or try the pan fried dumplings. And good luck to the restaurant, I’ll be back.

Yes, so very good, and best I’ve had in LA in a while. Got the #1, liked it so much I went back to get more to take home back to the Bay Area. Want to try the chive mandu next.

Excellent Korean dumplings and steamed buns! The owner was very sweet and welcoming. Everything is made to order; well worth it! There was huge steamers in the kitchen ready to cook all that dumpling goodness. My friend and I ordered the king size meat dumplings; filled with meat, cabbage, green onions, glass noodles, and so much flavor. Then we ordered the steamed kimchi dumplings. The owner said there were only 5 kimchi dumplings left and asked if we wanted to try a different batch; but, we asked her if we could just get some shrimp dumplings with the kimchi. She said that was fine; when she came out with the order, she gave us extra shrimp dumplings for the inconvenience. Very accommodating! The order comes with a seasoned soy sauce, and pickled radishes to cleanse the palate. The portions were very more than enough for 2 people but, we decided to be gluttonous and finish everything on our plates. If you’re looking for delicious food, at very affordable prices, made to order, and in a welcoming atmosphere, go here for your next meal! Can’t wait for my next order of steamed kimchi dumplings!

Best dumplings I’ve ever had, really reasonable prices(7.99 for six HUGE dumplings), plus the owner is super nice! We had the vegetable king sized dumplings and the steamed shrimp dumplings — both were very fresh, as was the sauce. Bonus: the owner said that she’s planning to get a vegetarian soup soon! Will definitely be back.

The veggie Wang mandoo is so good here. I also tried the meat Wang mandoo, steamed pork, deep fried pork dumplings. They are all good. Nothing fancy and outrageous unicorn tears but good simple but flavorful dumplings that are good. Will be back for more veggie Wang mandoo, it actually tasted better the next day. Yum!!! I came back and it was good. All over again. I’ll be back! I bought extra to take to work for a snack

Unfortunately, the previous place, which was a bakery, didn’t work out too well at this location. And sadly, I feel the same goes for whatever business that comes along or will come along here in the near future. The location just… sucks! What can I say? So now it’s a dumpling restaurant, called Dumplings. Pretty simple and straightforward. Can’t forget that one. So~ decided to give this place a try on a cold«LA» winter afternoon. The interior is lacking quite a bit. I feel a tad bit more effort could have been used toward the design of the restaurant. Just a tad bit. It was a bit unexpectedly surprising as we walked in the restaurant for the lack of décor. Though that’s not at all what’s important, of course. What IS important… hahaha…We ordered the Wang mandoo, or steamed king size dumpling with beef/pork meat, steamed kimchi mandoo/dumpling, and chicken cutlet. The dumplings were pretty good with adequate amount of stuffing in each! The dumplings were steamed right as we ordered it so they were hot, fresh, soft, and tasty. The dumplings are of good size so it can easily fill you up. The chicken cutlet was a bit too dry but overall everything met my expectations. The lady that was working was friendly and courteous. I really do hope, for their sake, the restaurant is a success. They have my approval. Hopefully, this one lasts more than a couple years.

I was alone and hungry in LA, and Unilocal led me to this unassuming place. The owner was very welcoming, and the seats were full of diners. The giant vegetarian dumplings(and the homemade dipping sauce) were delicious(and inexpensive!) and unlike anything I had ever seen before. I ate until I was full and brought the rest back to the hotel for breakfast. I would be back in a heartbeat!

This place is THEBEST. I just took 8 shrimp and 8 kimchi pork dumplings straight to the neck! The lady was so nice and she even threw in a large dumpling on the house. I almost made out with her! Holy shit this place is great. Tip these people good!

If you’re looking for Korean comfort food that tastes like it came right out of your grandmother’s kitchen, look no further!(Or at least how I imagine it would taste if I were Korean :)) I’ve been to this place TWICE within the past week because the food is so delicious and very reasonably priced. During my visits I ordered the kimchi fried rice, big dumplings, and beef fried dumplings. Everything was excellent! One order of the«big dumplings» can feed 3 – 4 people, and are filled with a mix of beef, pork, noodles, and vegetables. The outside has a bread-like texture, similar to siopao. The beef fried dumplings were delicious — deep fried to a golden perfection and a great compliment to the kimchi fried rice. This place gives HUGE servings, so you can easily share one entrée item between two people. If you’re eating by yourself, you’ll definitely have leftovers for a midnight snack! Just a heads up – be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes for your food as the restaurant owner runs the kitchen by herself. I tried calling in and placing an order ahead of time, but nobody picked up the phone. Normally I would knock down a star for this, but the food is definitely worth the wait. I encourage you to support mom-and-pop restaurants whenever you can. These owners are hardworking, respectable, and part of our community. I always feel better supporting these places over other fast-food conglomerates — plus it tastes better too ;) Enjoy!

This is a great place. Newly opened and my next fave hole in the wall. The owner greeted us warmly, although it was recent that she decided to close on Sundays. Still, she welcomed us and took our orders and went to the back and made everything fresh. Got the steamed pork dumplings and pan fried chicken dumplings. Gosh, those were delicious. She chatted with us, gave us a brief history on how she came to acquire the restaurant. She said her version of the dumplings is more Korean style, meaning more vegetables added. The dining area is small but I can’t imagine having it better any other way. I loved sitting just a few yards from the kitchen. Awesome experience and some of the best dumplings in LA. The parking lot is tiny and crowded so we parked in the residential neighborhood and walked a short distance. Not visited by Anthony Bourdain but hey, the Monte Carlo place is just across the street. Yeahrr. Selfie!

Had I just passed by this place I probably would never have gone in. Fortunately I have wise and savvy friends. I had the meat big dumplings. 9 $ and you basically get more than enough for two people. Moreover, it’s GOOD. My friends had the veggie big dumplings and the shrimp steamed dumplings and none of us had a single thing to complain about. We all left with boxes for tomorrow’s lunch, of course. The owner is super nice and accommodating, there’s parking outside and the place is clean. Just try it. It’s a great deal.

This place have been in business for a while I know by looking at the date of reviews. They still do not have complete menu ready. I ordered fried pork dumpling and steamed meat bun at 2:30pm. Waited 20 minutes for my food to come out, when there is no customer other than me. Lady was friendly. She gave me a complimentary veggie bun. But I would have not gone if I knew it was going to take this long(unless of course if dumplings worth waiting for). I am a big fan of dumpling. Shaomai, shunmai, shumai, bao, dimsum, baozi, rolls, mandoo., steemed, fried, pan fried, boiled, Mandarin, Cantonese, Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese and the rest of Asia, I know them all but I am never a picky eater. Taste of the fried pork dumpling was not good. They have failed to minimize the distinct smell and taste of pork. Free veggie bun was good but not excellent. Steamed meat bun was okay. Maybe it could’ve been better if I didn’t have other dumplings before this. This restaurant interior looks like it’s still in renovation. It can also influence the impression. To me(although I am an interior designer) the interior isn’t big of a issue if the food is good. I remember back in Korea, the best food in town was a little kiosk in local open market with few chairs. It had no, nothing other than food to please your eyes. My opinion is very limited since I’ve only tried 3 of their foods, but I think 3 are enough to guess the rest of the food. Would I return? Maybe not for a while.

Great new dumpling spot in Koreatown. I like that it’s not super popular right now since it just opened up. So the restaurant wasn’t busy. The lady who was working here is very nice. And they make the dumplings fresh to order. Plenty of seating for now, and there is a small parking lot for this restaurant. It’s a great place to dine in or take out. They even have frozen dumplings you can take home.
