Delicious!!! We got there 5 minutes before they closed and they were nice enough to still serve us! Burgers are amazing and fries are oh my wow. Definitely going back, soon! Can’t wait to try everything else.

Little hole in the wall with big ostentatious sign out front in a small plaza that is really easy to drive by but you should make a U-turn and try out their famous avocado and bacon burger. I came from the east coast and I honestly believe that In&Out has just been too hyped up to taste like the most amazing burger ever but I like the burgers from Fat burger and this place. When I walked in, the only employee in the whole place didnt look too friendly. never said hello or welcome or any smile, so I would say 2 stars there. but then she opened up more as she saw I was a friendly customer and I really enjoyed the fresh avocado and crispy bacon. Burger patty was well done and bun was nicely toasted. I would go back again during their happy hour lunchtime.

Howard’s never fails me! These burgers taste like home cooked meals. The bun is soft and warm, the cheese is perfectly melty & the meat patty is seasoned with the right amount of salt. Flavorful avocados are always green and generously added and they are never brown or mushy which I appreciate. The onion rings are always fried just right and I like the amount you get for your buck. I have to say I have honestly never tried anything else on their random menu so I can’t say anything about the tamales, tacos or fish. But the burgers are the best! I always bring out of town guests here!

There is a woman who works there, she hates working, she hates cooking and above all she hates customers because she will have to work if someone comes to the place. I live nearby tried this place more than few times, always OK experience but last few times has been horrible. You go inside you don’t find anyone because one and only server the lady is watching something in her phone so you have to trouble her. She would not like it so no smile, no greetings she wouldn’t even ask you what you want. Just stands at her place and stare at you like you made huge mistake. Food smell is very bad because of over used oil. And then such ungrateful workers so please avoid it and I think this is the reason they got B.

Great chili burger, I recommend this place if you’re a fan of burgers… not those expensive fancy gourmet burger.

Great prices for great food! This place has been around for decades. Got me some tacos with hamburger meat, avocado, lettuce, and other deliciousness. Super bomb! If you like american food with a little hint of mexican style to it, you gotta try it, you wont be disappointed.

The ingredients are quality, the chili fries are magical, and the tacos are surprisingly delicious. The bacon avocado burger hits the spot, too. If I lived closer, I’d be WAY more fat that I already am #obesity

I love the sign. The burger was great, and the ambiance was top rate. Great crowd of customers. Highly recommended for people of distinguished taste. Prices well, too.

I’ve been coming here for 10+ years good burgers, parking sucks the lady that works the counter is so RUDE&BITTER though! she just gave me a reminder of why I stopped coming here… she should learn how to SMILE or maybe look into other career choices since it looks like she hates her life

Always good! The burgers and fries and always a must… but don’t forget to try the tacos… so basic but so good. The parking lot is way to small, so parking can be an issue.

Mmmm… This is what I love: ¼ cheeseburger w/avocado and bacon and an order of PERFECTONIONRINGS!(Not burning hot, just perfect!!!) Very satisfying with a mexicola with real sugar. The place is a little divey like… the inside of the ketchup lid is nasty! But the food is good! The French fries are good too, this place makes you wanting more for those specific food cravings, and I’m a fan!

Yes the sign will draw you in. And yes the burgers will be mediocre in the way a old fashioned place like this would make mediocre burgers. But the abaca do and bacon do as advertised and the the burger does soar, if only for a brief while. Really though this is a Cali classic in a way you can’t get in a lot of other places. It’s exactly what you want

I lived around the corner from Howard’s Famous Bacon & Avocado Burgers some 30 years ago, and my high school buddies and I would regularly consume their delicious burgers. When I took my Oregon lady on a tour of the Los Angeles greater area eateries, I felt that a stop at Howard’s was essential(as was Tito’s tacos, down the road). The burgers are still great. In fact, they’re essentially unchanged. That’s the problem though. The world of burgers has changed. Burgers I have access to as an adult are undoubtedly better than the burgers I had as a kid. Now I tend to eat burgers made from higher quality meat, I like my burgers thicker, and cooked rarer, and I appreciate some more complex condiment choices than ketchup and mayo. But if you’re at Howard’s for some sort of grass-fed prime cut buffalo burger with sauteed chanterelles and melted gouda, on an aioli slathered ciabatta bun, then you are in the wrong place. If, however, you are interested in a taste of what eating burgers was like in Los Angeles in the 1980s, then don’t hesitate. These greasy burgers are delicious, and horrifying in all the right ways. As mentioned elsewhere, the chili isn’t great. It has never been great. The place isn’t called«Howard’s Famous Chili Burgers» for a reason.

First of all it’s got that old school dive feel that I like. I had to try the«famous bacon and avocado burger». It was pretty good. The payty was juicy, the bacon crisp and the avocado complimented the whole burger. If you’re in the area and like grilled burgers do stop in.

Dude, I’m starting to Love this place. Came in last week and had a chili burger. Note, they don’t call this place Howard’s famous chili burger. It’s smart and final chili, no good. The burgers however are money, meaty and fried right. Nice crispy crust burnt on to these patties. They smell, taste and drip well. A double is sub six bones. The fries are normal and better portion than some. Went back again the following week and skipped the chili, still don’t have the nerve or available cholesterol for bacon and avocado, but even without this is a solid burger and great value.

I’ve driven by this place more times tha I can remember. Always wanted to try, but they were closed or I just couldn’t stop in. Finally stopped by last week and maybe I made it out to be more than it really is. Not too impressed, but not terrible. For me it was just another burger joint. The burger was good, nothing too rave about, but the onion rings were quite delish. Can’t remember what the bf got, but he said it was ok too. Might stop by again if in the hood and lazy to go anywhere else, but the prices are fair, so can’t complain there. The people who work there are also VERY nice… That’s all for now.
