Here’s the inside scoop on Jingle Bell’s name — the original owner’s initials are JB, and what other phrases start with those letters? I suppose it could’ve been Jelly Belly or June Bug or Juicy Burger. Perhaps the Jolly Bedbathbeyond? In Korean, it’s called«Pico Manmulsang,» which translates to something less colorful, along the lines of Pico general store. Sensible, seasonally appropriate, but not quite as fun. Full disclosure — this place is run by the mother and uncle of one of my best friends. This fact makes me biased, a little, but it also puts me in a good position to tell you that the owners are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They’re so kind and friendly and welcoming, and they deserve all of your money. Lucky for you, you don’t have to give them all of your money. If you’re willing to part with a very small portion of it, you’ll get a lot of great furniture in exchange. The prices at Jingle Bell are very good. The quality is a good deal better than at Ikea, and the prices are probably comparable. Matt B. has couches from both, and the one from Jingle Bell is so much more comfortable. His dining set is Jingle Bell as well, a wood table with four chairs, much nicer than what he would’ve gotten for a similar price elsewhere. As I type, I have my feet propped up on a wonderful leather coffee table divided into four compartments. The four sections are topped by leather lids that flip over to provide table space. It’s pretty and functional, and it feels good under my ankles. I also sleep on a Jingle Bell mattress. It is the firmest mattress I’ve ever slept on, but I like it. The store has an eclectic feel to it, with two stories full of furniture of all different design schemes. There’s a wide selection on display, and there are even more options available for order in catalogues. Delivery is efficient, and I’ve now dealt twice with a wonderful El Salvadorian man named Nato. He’s a total delight, warm and good-natured, and he speaks Korean(and English) about as well as I do. I recommend Jingle Bell whole-heartedly for your furniture needs. I may be biased, but I’m also committed to living in and around Jingle Bell’s furniture, so that must count for something. I’m a big fan of both the people behind the store and the merchandise in it. Merry Christmas, and good shopping to ye.

Did Santa Claus name this store? All of these Korean places I’ve been frequenting as of late really have some weird names. I REALLY need to get out of Koreatown! Koreans call this place«Pico Mam-mool-ssang» which basically means it’s a warehouse filled with furniture. And it’s on Pico Blvd. It’s kind of hard to spot this place but if you’re heading east from Koreatown, it’s basically a block before Vermont. It will be on your right side, and it blends with the other stores next door so you’ll have to look hard. I’ve gotten three things from this store over the years: 1. My post-college, YayIhavemyownplace sofa. Well, it was a futon(RIP). It was beige, made out of microsuede, and it was great. I had that for about three years, and recently decided to give in and buy another sofa.(My boyfriend told me he didn’t like hanging out at my place because the sofa was so uncomfortable.) I think I got this futon for $ 250(waived tax), and with free delivery. It served its purpose. 2. Maybe two years ago, I hurt my back again so I had to go shopping for a firmer mattress. I wanted to check this place out(since I had a good experience buying the futon) before heading over to American stores. They told me they had a great quality mattress for $ 250 so I decided to test it out. Holy heavens this mattress was hard! But hard in a good way. ;) They delivered it to me the same day(for free), didn’t charge me tax, and I just gave the delivery guy a tip. He even took away my old mattress for me. I still have this mattress today, and it’s still very firm!(Of course my hard bed is yet another reason my boyfriend doesn’t like coming over to my place. :P) 3. Just today, I bought my shoe closet here for $ 120(see picture). It was priced at $ 129 but I told him I saw the same one for $ 129 at Keystone(I really did) and he knocked off the $ 9. *rolls eyes* I didn’t want to haggle, though, because I think haggling is a bit tacky and I could see his business was suffering. He didn’t charge me tax, and he took the heavy box to my car for me. I really like the way it looks. Overall, I’ve had good experiences at Jingle Bell Furniture. The price is reasonable(sometimes expensive, though), delivery is quick, and you can haggle because it works. The owner(Korean guy in his mid-40’s) is really nice, and he’ll work hard to find what you’re looking for. This place also has a big dining room selection. :) Check it out! If you don’t like it, check out Keystone Furniture. The owner isn’t as nice but they have a BIGBIG selection of furniture.
