Absolutely incredible food and service. I had never been here before and just popped in for a falafel or something vegetarian. I ended up ordering the vegetarian plate. Everything was delightfully fresh and tasty! The staff was SUPER cheerful and helpful. It was a really pleasant dining experience. As a bonus, I found super strong wifi via«CableWiFi» but I also noticed they had their own. I sat on a padded bench seat that was very comfortable. The babaganouh was off the charts delicious. The falafel was cooked just right and tasted extremely fresh. The tabouleh wasn’t my favorite, but it still tasted really fresh and I give them high marks because it was probably just my own preference is different. The hummus was fantastic, as was the grape leaf thingies. At most places, the pita can be a bit stale or dry, but theirs was like it was just made by grandma. The ambiance was nice too, casual and clean. Oh and one final thing… I felt like the value was terrific. It was a lot of food for $ 9.50!

Joe’s is great. The lafa is killer. Always get some fried cauliflower on the side.

This unassuming place is on Cahuenga tucked in a street mall so you wouldn’t think they have such amazing food; well they do. The falafel is one of the best I have had. Everything is made fresh and the service could not be better. You are always greeted with a smile usually by one of the owners and they have little tastings while you wait. I usually get my orders to go and they are pretty fast.

The Falafel here is amazing! Every single bite makes me want to eat more and more! The owner here takes great pride in his restaurant. Given this was our first time here and coming from out of town, I highly recommend this place is you’re looking for best Falafel in Los Angeles!

Joe is awesome! A friend and love when I can get there and enjoy dinner with him. The food is phenomenal, the service is stellar and the place is immaculate. Always, have something different. I don’t like Falafel but it love it here!(only here). You will never eat here and feel crappy. It’s fresh, healthy delicious food. If you are lucky(I am) he will give you a taste of his special cake. Yum. Also, noticed Lindsey Wagner eats here. If you are a 70’s-80’s Child you know how awesome The Bionic Woman«Jaime Summers» was. Made me giddy. Oh–«Joe’s Falafel» you have a special place in food heaven!

Yum! I had the Gyro Plate. It was about $ 12 total. Way too much food ;) probably should have just bought a Gyro sandwich. Very good though and quick service. The hummus was fantastic.

Called Joe’s based on the fact I saw online that they deliver. I said«Hi I’d like to place an order for delivery.» He asked me what I wanted, and I told him the whole order. He said, «Great, be here in 15 minutes» and hung up. I called back and explained it was for delivery, not pick up. He told me to use Eat24. So I logged on and filled in the entire order over again. It showed up an hour later and we found THREE. LONG. BLACK. HAIRS. in the food. And they forgot the extra radishes, hot sauce, etc. special requests. Needless to say I was first… offended by the customer service on the phone. Then put out by having to re do everything online. Then disgusted by the hairs. I used to really like this place but I’m so turned off by that delivery order.

I when here recently after visit to Universal Studio nearby. Most of the food in the park and city walk are unhealthy and overpriced. This one is about 10 minutes walk from the city walk. The interior is very typical fast fook alike Mediterranean restaurant. What they stand out is their falafel, oh boy is some of the best Falafel I had in L.A. it is suprise to find such quality in near tourist area. They give you pretty good size portion as well. I definite would go back when I in the area.

Delicious, friendly, and fast! I couldn’t get over the excellent and personal customer service from this establishment. If you enjoy Mediterranean, and want VIP treatment, this is a very recommended stop.

I was really excited to try this place. I love everything Mediterranean, but this place was the exception. Came here around 6PM on a Wednesday. Wasn’t too busy and, thankfully, there was ample parking! You order/pay at the counter before sitting down. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the food was cold – tasted like I was eating someone’s leftovers, the chicken was dry/chewy and the dressing on the side salad was overpowered by all the Dijon mustard dressing that even tasted a bit bitter. To top it off, the owner/manager went around the entire restaurant handing out little«cookie cakes» on a popsicle to everyone EXCEPT my table. He went around and smiled and asked almost everyone how their food was. The only time he even acknowledge us was when my friend dropped her napkin and he said, «you dropped your napkin» and my friend had to bend down to pick it up… thanks dude. I’m surprised at how highly rated this place is. Would not recommend it. The portions for $ 11/plate isn’t worth it. You’re better off at Panni Café, Carousel, etc. in Glendale where you’ll be acknowledged and treated with respect.

Great find ! I chanced upon this place driving for UBER out to Universal Studios. The Gentleman at the counter suggested their fresh baked LaFa bread for the Falafel Sandwich — take his advice ! The bread is soft, warm and delicious, what’s inside puts it over the top. I have not had Falafel this good since my first job in a family run Resturant. For the same price as a chain run fast food place you can have an amazing culinary experience. The Bistro style atmosphere is clean and pleasant — you can’t go wrong at Joe’s !

Visited Joe’s Falafel because I wanted something relatively cheap and delicious in the area and I found this place on Unilocal.Everything was AMAZING!!! The only reason I am 4 starring instead of 5 is because it took forever to get my food. From the time I walked in to the time I left was about 1 hour, and I’m not a slow eater. There was hardly anybody there, and taking that long is pretty unusual for a small hole in the wall type place. I had the beef Kafta plate and a side of lentil soup. The soup was decent. I’ve been eating that a lot lately and it’s one of the better ones I’ve had. The Kofta plate is amazing!!! The beef is so flavorful it’s ridiculous. It also comes with a small salad and hummus. That hummus is one of the best that I’ve ever had. It’s so creamy, I would come back just for that!

You know the feeling when you’re about to climax and then you do and it just feels so dang good that you become addicted and want it all over again… Yes. The shawarma here does that to you. Looks like I may have to come back here at least 3 – 4 times a week… Because well, you know.

Whelp… I discovered why they’re on the top 100 list. I have NEVER tasted hummus this creamy. I don’t know what they do to it, but O.M.G. We also had the falafel, which was the best I have ever had and when combined wit the hummus, was something I could go back for again and again. Wrap that up and tie a bow on it with the baklava, and you’re DONE. If you haven’t been here yet, I have just given you a recipe for a fantastic dinner. You’re welcome. I’m out.

Joe gives you a ton of food for a very reasonable price without compromising quality. I had the chicken shawarma on laha? But everything is good and you definitely won’t leave hungry. Enjoy!

Joe’s Falafel is a short driving distance from the Universal Studios area in Los Angeles. I found this place as it was listed on Unilocal’s Top 100 Places to Eat as well as listed on Eater as one of the Top Ten Finest Schwarma Specialist places in Los Angeles. My manager and I made our way here for lunch and the final conclusion, no regrets! Upon inspecting the menu, I ordered Beef Kofta plate with salad, saffron rice, hummus, and pita. Beef Kofta tasted freshly made with onions, parsley, and spices. Rice and Pita were both nice and fluffy. Hummus was to die for. The cashier was nice enough to give us small samples of falafel(and boy was it delicious)! I wished I lived and worked near Joe’s Falafel, so I can come here to eat everyday! Seriously. Some additional background information according to Eater: — Owned by Tel Aviv — Joe Mattar — Previous experience with Pita Pockets near Cal State Northridge — Known for their Chicken Schwarma(marinated in amba, tumeric, and cumin) — Also known for their Whole Wheat Laffa(pull apart, dusted with semolina, and sports a crispy bottom) ENJOY!

Kafta plate for $ 10.50. The plate came with pita bread, salad, rice, hummus and 3 pieces of ground meat kebab. I didn’t really care for the rice and the bread was cold. The kaftan was pretty tasty and juicy though. QUICKTIP: STREETPARKING. 3 stars! Joe’s Falafel is almost yummylicious!

Pretty decent place. Parking is free but limited. Street parking is metered. The food alone is a 5 starts, but my whole experience was a 4. The wait for food can be slightly long even though it’s not crowded. I ordered extra baba ganoush and I was done with my meal by the time I received it. I guess I could have asked for it sooner but I was trying to be patient. LAFABREAD: it’s great with a sandwich, but by itself it can dry up and get chewy quickly PITABREAD: fluffiest pita bread ever. I liked the pita bread a lot more than the lafa bread VEGETARIANPLATTER: all the salads, hummus, and baba ganoush were perfect, but they could be more generous with the hummus and baba ganoush. I could see the bottom of my black plate! I ordered a side order of baba ganoush for that reason CHICKENKABOBWRAP: I think the wraps are the way to go here. You get the best of everything in one bite BAKLAVA: meh. It’s good, but I’m not craving it at this moment

Joes Falafel is the real deal. The location and parking situation sucks balls. But the food is decent! I did an order of their veggie combo plate $ 9.50 It came with 2 falafels, 2 sarmas, 2 different types of cabbage salad(one red, one green) Babaganush Hummus Moussaka(roasted eggplant dip) Tabouleh And a delicious pita bread(i guess they bake it) OMG– I’ve never had hummus that good!!! So creamy and buttery. Didn’t have a strong sesame seed oil taste. Falafels were super moist and fluffy. Salads were flavorful! The pita bread was sooo good! Not the typical store bought kind. The sarmas could use help. They were very bland Overall satisfied! I would definitely eat here again. The chicken shawarma sandwich looks divine and so do some other plates.(Cant wait to try) If you want to avoid traffic avoid going after 3pm. That area is always clustered going down to Hollywood.

Rating: 92⁄100 pts An ideal combination of fast-yet-fresh, delicious-yet-affordable, this most humble of shops is indeed as good as it gets for $ 10. Order before sitting, and watch as they prepare your food behind the glass; everything is made fresh, except perhaps the meats, which are sliced off a doner rotisserie.(This is by no means a fault; the meat tastes amazing, comes in copious quantities, and is inevitably supplemented by fresh vegetables. The doner-style helps keep it affordable.) Joe himself has been there each time I’ve gone, and in spite of his strong standing on Unilocal(which virtually renders this review superfluous), he remains as modest as can be. He is half-Greek and half-Israeli, and his background seeps through on the menu: they have specialties from both cuisines in equal parts, and of equally masterful execution. Before ordering from the standard menu, don’t forget to check their chalkboard specials hanging above the register – daily changing specials is a further sign of their commitment to good eating. Recently I ordered their Greek Bowl from their daily menu. What came out initially looked like a simple salad(see picture) – but underneath the greens and feta lurked tons of meat, fava beans, rice, cucumbers… the deeper I dug, the better the bowl got! There was so much food that I easily got 2 meals out of it. Not only have I loved everything I’ve tried, I’d be at a complete and utter loss to point you in the direction of a place that offers these dishes at these prices for equal or better quality. …full yet? Well, do not leave without trying their house-made desserts. Their sweet Baklava and flowery Semolina cake are even better than you are probably expecting.
