This place is so disappointing. I’ve come a couple of times before and they always are out of «chicken», «steak» or «vegetables”(after 1pm). Now it’s 1130am and«steak is not ready» only chicken. The only reason I came back here is because I need to get my southwest rapid rewards points so that my points don’t expire and I needed to make a quick purchase with rapid rewards dining. But I won’t be back for a while until I need to get more points, unless I find something closer to the area that participates in the southwest dining rewards. The cashier is friendly, the star is for him, and the food is okay too. But when you can’t place the order you want, it’s hard to say«I enjoyed my lunch».

My coworkers routinely shit on this place, but I was in the mood for a chicken bowl today so I thought why not give it a fair shake and see if it’s really that bad. Well, before I can even place my order the guy working the counter informs me that«they’re out.» Out of chicken bowls? Ok, let me see… «No, we’re not taking any more orders today.» I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a fast casual restaurant before that is completely out of food for the day(at 1:00pm). So I guess I won’t be back until they can learn how to ration their food to make it through a typical mid-week lunch hour.

The only thing that gives this place two stars is for the friendly guy at the cashier(Reuben). Otherwise…methinks not! Microwaved unagi, still a bit cold and mostly fat; same too the broccoli except replace«cold» with«icy,”(and of course not«mostly fat») Virtually inedible.

The sushi is fine, meaning it won’t get you sick. But I heard some suspicious microwave beeps that I think ended up being my fresh water eel. Yikes. Plus, this place is just a super-depressing place to eat. Customer service is at a bare minimum, meaning they will condescend to take your order and they will even call you when it is ready. I just felt sorta unwelcome. It was a choice made out of necessity, because I waited too long to walk further to New Mikado. I won’t make that mistake again.

Wow I can’t believe they have so many bad reviews I always come here when I go to the doctor because they’re across the street I always get sushi rolls I’ve never tried anything else so i dont know about that but their sushi rolls r pretty good and I their service is great too! Too bad they don’t do delivery :(

I have now twice attempted to order off the large sushi menu behind the register, and twice been told that they have no fish or only have salmon. Just stop offering sushi if you aren’t going to keep fish in stock…

Thursdays — free drink with any bowl I would have never walked in here on my own — came here with co-workers on a lunch break. Nothing really looked or sounded appetizing to me(maybe it was b/c I was unsure of what I wanted or b/c I’m currently sick). My chicken bowl was reminiscent of the Flame Broiler, except I think the Flame Broiler is way better! They give you more chicken and veggies for sure. This was an okay switch up, but I don’t think I will be coming back here for their chicken bowls…

Ok, ok, ok. This place is not great. But it’s not bad either. They do run out of things… but I’ve never been around when they’ve had to turn people away because of no more rice. I come here because it fits with my p90x diet to get their chicken bowl, no rice, no teri, extra veggies. It’s not bad. I hear other Mitaki restaurants do much better in terms of customer service and quality, but this location is convenient to work.

Against my better judgment, and because I didn’t feel like Subway today, I came to Mitaki and ordered what I thought was a «safe» dish – stir fried udon(«Yaki udon plate»). I should have listened to the other Unilocal warnings! I brought the food back to my desk, took two bites of the udon and immediately wanted to toss the rest in the trash. Soggy, awful, terrible, gross. I really can’t think of another dish I’ve had ANYWHERE that was this horrible. There is no owner/manager on site here(or at least I didn’t see one). I took the box back downstairs and asked for a refund and luckily, the cashier refunded my money. I don’t think I’ve ever requested a refund for food before – that’s how bad this place is. The truly baffling thing is how a place like this even stays in business. The owner must be using the business to launder money or something – cannot be that the food is keeping them afloat. Do yourself a favor(and save your money), don’t «try» this place hoping the experience will be different. I did and totally regret it! **On a side note, the place also smells horrendous. You come out smelling like oil and fried food…

Frequently out of basic ingredients(rice, chicken, sushi) by midday. My favorite quote: «Uh, the dude who knows how to make sushi isn’t here.» You can’t make this stuff up.

As much as I love the idea of having an inexpensive chicken bowl for lunch during a busy day, I am really disappointed with Mitaki. I’ve attempted to try their other menu items but they’re always out of something. I mean, I just wanted an unagi bowl. How many people order that for you to run out of unagi?! Anyway, the chicken bowl is usually pretty mediocre but there were two times where my rice was spoiled. It was tangy and had a funky smell. Not cool. I heard they changed for the worse so no, I don’t think I’d ever visit this place again.

This place has the worst service and management of ANY place I’ve ever frequented. I work in the building across the street, and eating options are rather limited, so sometimes I walk in and take my chances. The first time, their credit card machine was broken. The next time, they were out of RICE! RICE !!! At a Japanese sushi joint! They are usually out of fountain sodas and ice as well. They’re only saving grace is their location and the few options that us nearby workers have, otherwise they’d surely be out of business.

Hunger trumps good judgment. I’ve eaten here a handful of times and each time has been worse than the previous. They can’t even do a simple chicken or beef bowl worth coming back for. Today my rice is undercooked and the veggies are overcooked, mushy. I’m certain I’m eating yesterday’s chewy dried out chicken and unwashed overcooked veggies. In fact the only reason I’m gonna continue eating this $ 7.60 chicken/beef bowl(special for Thursdays) is because I paid almost 8 bucks for it and I’m starving. Each time I’ve eaten here, it was because everywhere else had a line out the door and I was starving. I vow never again.

I have been here at least 5 times, and every time I order the spicy tuna roll combo… and every time they are out of tuna! As for the rest of their offerings, the chicken teriaki is ok but filled with fat/gristle but then what do you expect from a cafeteria quality«sushi» restaurant. If you want my suggestion walk two blocks over and go to Seashore on 11th and Hope. Their $ 12 lunch special is amazing.

DONOTEATHERE, EVER… This is the worst establishment on the west coast, and I only say the west coast and not nationwide because I have not eaten on the east coast enough to judge. The people that work here are grade A idiots, they do not communicate, its almost as lacking communication skills is part of the requirement to work here. They NEVER have half of the menu, I mean ever! Their soda machine is always broken, the credit card machine never works. HOWINTHEHELL does a place run out of white rice? Is that possible? The cheapest food on earth and your restaurant uses it with every meal and you run out? I almost feel bad writing about the workers personally, I am sure they are great people outside of the work place, but certainly not meant for any job that requires speaking or socializing. I promise, swear, will do anything that people do not eat here. Shut this damn place down and replace ith with something that is effecient, like a Panda Express, Chipotle, anything but this burnt chicken having, no rice having, beyond horrible sushi having hell hole… I understand Unilocal has certain parameters for posting on here, but this is the truth and my experiences so I certainly hope this is not removed. I am telling you people, I actually created a Unilocal account to do this review. And also note, I have been here more than once, more than 10x, more than 30x in past 4 years of working in the building. I have the right to say this as I have experienced it all with them…

This place is horrible. It gets .5 star for having a wide variety of items on its menu. The staff was friend and the place was clean .5 stars. How could I go wrong with their signature Teriyaki Chicken bowl? The meat was burned and dried out and the rice was undercooked.

Considering this is fast food, there’s a fairly large selection of combination bowls, rolls, sushi and noodles. The food is okay. The bowls are a step up from Yoshinoya and the rolls are decent. I ordered the chicken bowl. It was served over a tiny bed of rice and vegetables. It tasted like I expected it to — sweet teriyaki sauce over slices of chicken breast. Nothing out of the ordinary. I also ordered a crunchy roll, which is basically a piece of shrimp tempura wrapped in a California roll. It was packed with imitation crab and was large. Not bad. Fast food quality at best but hey, there’s not much Japanese on the south side of downtown. Also, this place closes at 3:30pm so it’s strictly a place for lunch.

I’m not that picky — but this place is really awful. They frequently run out of ingredients(what kind of a sushi place runs out of RICE during the lunch rush?). The food, when you can get it, is not anything special. ?The service is terrible and slow. Definitely avoid it unless you have no other options.

O.k., I work across the street from this place so I go there pretty often. It’s true, that this place actually runs out of rice and beef on numerous occasions. I mean, this is a place where most of dishes consist of rice so you would think they’d be prepared. But on a positive note, I go there often for the SPICYCHICKENBOWL. I have to admit that it tastes really good and is actually very spicy. I’ve tried a lot of spicy chickens before being a fan of chili and none compare so far.
