I would give this place a 3.5 if I could. The current deal, $ 6.99 ft a make-it-yourself pizza, was quite a good deal considering that I literally put everything into this pizza. First time Unilocal check in gave me a cinnamon pizza dessert, which I honestly don’t know if I like. The cinnamon is, as all cinnamon is, amazing. However, I just don’t know how I feel about it. Alternatively, I find the crust itself lacking in flavor, which made it difficult to further appreciate the pizza. Will come again, but probably not for a while.

The crust is sooo delicious! Thin and crispy but not overly so… the garlic butter is great … unlimited toppings and generously and symmetrically placed. And for some reason only 6.95! Definitely will return! !

They’re having a summer special where a custom pizza is $ 5.95, and it’s still going on even though it’s December. Pretty good bang for your buck, especially in terms of Westwood prices. The business model just seems the same as Blaze pizza, though compared to Blaze, the service is definitely not as good, and the freshness of ingredients seemed lower. They seemed a little understaffed for lunch– we were the first five people in line but the process seemed pretty inefficient for making the pizzas. No real sense of urgency despite the growing line. This would be a good place to take friends who value quantity over quality. If you’re looking for quality, head across the street to 800.

Open oven is delicious, but it’s so hidden that not that many people know about it. It’s also across the street from 800 degrees. I usually go here if I’m craving pizza because it’s cheap and there’s unlimited toppings, plus it tastes great! I like studying here too.

Mmm this place is so good! I’ve been to many of these«made to order» pizza establishments like pieology, 800 degrees, and blaze pizza. I’ve got to say, this one may be my new favorite. I had never heard of this chain until now and yesterday was my first time trying it. I like that this place has so many toppings to choose from. I got regular red sauce, mozzarella, fresh mozzarella, spicy sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, artichokes, corn, zucchini, basil, and a fresh cracked egg. These pizzas are normally $ 7.95 each for unlimited toppings, but we got $ 2 off each pizza for some reason with their«summer discount»(which is weird since it’s not even summer anymore!). I loved the pizza crust. So fresh and delicious, not soggy like 800 degrees. The toppings were tasty and not super salty(sometimes pieology and blaze pizza are a little too salty for my taste). I was pretty impressed and would definitely stop by again. They have a special coupon book that gives you 5 pizzas for $ 30 too! The only thing I didn’t like was the fact my egg was not really cooked so I ended up scooping it out. I would probably not get the egg next time. The tables are also a little awkward since they are long and thin, I’m not sure if they were meant to be communal. But still five star rating from me! You can also get a free dessert pizza if you check in on Unilocal

A make-it-yourself pizza place much like the more well-known places such as pieology or even 800 degrees. Situated inside this little courtyard like place on Westwood, it is easy to miss. However, my friend and I were drawn in on the Memorial Day weekend as there was a nice hand-drawn sign that said that pizzas were 50% off! There was no way we could resist. The table that we sat at was extremely narrow with seats on both sides. However, you could only fit one pizza between the two sides since it was that narrow. I guess they are emphasizing that you can share a pizza. Probably a good idea on the calories. Having gone to other places such as Pieology, I would have to say that open oven is pretty much the same. The only difference in my experience here was that I got the spicy tomato sauce, and it was a little too spicy that it overpowered my whole pizza. But for $ 4 on that weekend, this was definitely quite the steal. I almost wanted to order another pizza but I couldn’t even finish my first one. The service is extremely friendly and the pizzas are great. I would recommend coming to open oven if you want to switch things up.

It’s actually my second time here! I was so impressed I convinced my Boss to come. He was very impressed as well. This place is Heaven on earth in pizza form. A must have if you’re in this area — or even if you’re not! Oh yeah, they are running a special right now, that’ll make your wallet happy as well. See you there!

This place by far makes the best pizza in the world. I’m not exaggerating. Try it and you shall see. If they close down I may commit suicide as life will never be the same. To save my life kindly rate this place 5-STAR so their sales go up. Thank you.

Glad this place is still going strong, in face of renewed competition(pieology). They have a $ 6 unlimited topping special until September! Not quite sure how they make money, but def come take advantage of it before it ends. Feel bad b/c their merchant payment system doesn’t allow for tips when paying with card, would def help the staff out if I could!

An interesting competitor to 800 Degrees down the street. I visited Open Oven shortly after it opened, twice, and had two very different experiences. The first time, the employees were helpful but clearly still getting used to their own menu offerings. I had a pizza with standard red sauce/cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. I’ll say off the bat that the sausage here is so much better than 800 Degrees. More flavorful, and cooks really well. The pizza dough here is stiffer and slightly crumbly at the edges. On my second visit, some time later, I was surprised by how the employees behaved. There was lots of impatience, lack of detail, and then confusion about the order somewhere between the start of the pizza line and the cash register. The cashier was especially rude, and spent most of her time having conversations with the other employees, occasionally interrupted by customers curious about their pizza readiness. Though there was a backlog in orders and many people were waiting, the employees’ attitudes were nothing short of uncaring. This pizza was sloppily made and had much fewer toppings, too. Unsure if I’ll return for another try, though I’d still like to try the dessert pizza.

Great pizza spot in Westwood. The pizzas are super thin crust which is unique and helps this place stand out among the many pizza spots nearby. The ingredients are not particularly special, and not quite the quality you get at 800 degrees. But totally worth the price and there are tons of choices, plus they don’t charge extra for toppings so pile them on! I recommend the spicy sauce and a side of ranch. Currently they are running a summer special for design your own pizzas that end up being just $ 6.5 with tax, their normal prices and specialties are less than $ 10 each.

Made-to-order individual pizzas that look about right when they’re making them… just like their two major competitors. Yet when it comes out of the oven, despite ordering the exact same set of ingredients I always do when comparing places, the pizza here looked kind of sad. Cheese circles, pepperoni, whatever it was– all looked smaller, less tasty than usual. Even the crust and the spicy red sauce seemed to lack the flavor and little, itty-bitty tiny bit of kick it should have. That said, the inside is nice enough and there’s a decent amount of outdoor seating to compensate for the tiny inside. I just wish the food kept up.

If you frequent Westwood a lot, you’ll know there are two main pizza hotspots– 800 Degrees and the newer Open Oven Pizza. Unlike 800 Degrees(Italian style, pay for every topping, eat with a fork and knife), Open Open is more traditional pizza with a crispy crust. Best of all, you pay a flat fee for as many toppings as you want! Parking: My bf and I came here around 8:30pm on a weekday evening, so there was only one other group in the restaurant. There is some street parking available and a parking structure on Broxton and Westwood that is a flat $ 3 at night. Food: The menu had some pre-made pizza selections, but we opted for a sausage/olives/red onions/pepperoni combo. With Unilocal,we got our free dessert pizza, so we shared both and it came out to only $ 8 for the two pizzas! The dessert pizza was ready first and perfectly cinnamon-y and chewy, like a soft churro. The regular pizza was excellent, cooked well and crispy. Great new pizza place for Westwood!

The best pizza around. The crust is super thin and the ingredients are bountiful. You cannot get a better pizza; particularly for the price. You will never want any other pizza once you’ve tried Open Oven. This is not a paid review. :)

First time trying this place after constantly passing by it for 800 degrees. And I must say for roughly $ 8, the pizza is not too shabby and they slab on a lot of yummy toppings! We also checked in for a free desert pizza which was also pretty good. The service was great and I will definitely come back for a decently priced, fulfilling pizza!

Another one of those pizza places where you can pick your toppings and get your pizza in 5 minutes. My main problem with these places is usually the service and it was with this place too! The staff just seems short staffed and unable to handle more than two people in line. Then you feel rushed and can’t decide on what you want on your pizza because you’re rushing! Ugh. We really liked our pizzas we made and we also got the dessert pizza(free with check in on Unilocal). The crust was really good and the spicy red sauce is actually really spicy! The basil lemonade is amazing! I think the prices are about the same as Blaze, Pieology, etc but cheaper than 800 degrees. It is located in Westwood Village, so street parking only. Has a nice seating arrangement inside with long tables and benches.

Open Oven offers build-your-own pizzas with unlimited toppings all for under $ 9, which is pretty great. I came here on a Friday night around 7pm and it wasn’t too crowded. I got a pizza with the regular crust, but they do offer a gluten-free crust for an additional $ 1.95. They offer 3 different butters for the crust and 2 different marinara sauces. Then comes the toppings. Open Oven offers a wide variety of cheeses, veggies, and meats. The put the pizza in the oven to bake and you can add additional sauces or arugula afterwards. I checked in on Unilocal and received a free dessert pizza. I took my pizza to go and ate it at home. The personalized sized pizza lasted 2 meals for me. I would have given Open Oven 4 stars, but I had a really incompetent cashier. The workers that were helping me before her were really friendly and helpful. I arrive at the cashier and I tell her that I checked in on Unilocal to get the free dessert pizza. She tells me she doesn’t know how do that on the register and told me to wait. After she figures that out, I told her I’ll be paying with a Groupon voucher and of course, she also doesn’t know what to do at this point, so she has to call someone else to help her. Maybe it was her first day, but she really irritated me because even if she didn’t know how to do something, at least be more apologetic. She just brushed it off as if I was the one that was wrong. If it wasn’t for her, Open Oven would have definitely received 4 stars from me.

For a new restaurant, Open Oven seemed to be winning over fans. Well, of course starting the grand opening celebration by giving out free pizza twice a day is a sure way to get people in the door. But, the question remains, can OOP keep the place packed? It looks like the answer is no. I partook in the freebies during their first week open and in three days, I tried four of their signature pizzas — Bianco, Meat lovers, BBQ chicken, and Greek. Great pizza boils down to a few things — the crust, the cheese, and the sauce. The crust at OOP is thin and crispy but it’s soft enough to chew easily and it doesn’t crumble easily. And… it’s not soggy! You can get either olive oil or garlic butter on the crust. The cheese varies depending on which pizza you get but in general, they are most generous with the shredded mozzarella. There was so little feta on the Greek and gorgonzola on the BBQ chicken that it’s difficult to comment on those. Between the four pizzas, I’ve tried all of the sauces that they offer — creamy garlic, tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, and tzatziki sauce. They were typical of what you would expect. Pizzas listed from best to least enjoyable: Bianco — creamy garlic white sauce, mozzarella, mushroom, spinach, corn, caramelized onion and black pepper. This was a total surprise… in a great way! With no meat on it, I was skeptical but the sweetness of the caramelized onions and corn, the kick of the pepper, and the zestiness of the garlic sauce really worked well. Meat Lover — tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, italian sausage, bacon and crumbled meatball. Meat, cheese sauce… how can you go wrong, really? Well, maybe a little extra tomato sauce and cheese would’ve made this pizza excellent. BBQ Chicken — mozzarella, gorgonzola, grilled chicken, red onion, cilantro and BBQ sauce. The success of this pizza lies in the main ingredients — chicken and barbecue sauce. The chicken serving was a bit stingy and the barbecue sauce was super sweet, straight from a bottle. CPK makes a better BBQ chicken pizza. Greek — pesto, mozzarella, feta, artichoke heart, kalamata olive, arugula and tzatziki. The pesto that they use was delicious but the tzatziki sauce drizzled over a piping hot pizza was much less appealing to me when I actually ate it. There was just too much sauce! Well, after the week of free pizza, I returned to try the«make your own pizza» and the place was empty. For $ 7.95, I started with the meat lover pizza and a few veggies, one of which was forgotten by the new worker there. The free dessert pizza was super thin and although it tasted alright, it wouldn’t be worth $ 3.50. The lack of patrons at dinner time doesn’t bode well for long-term success. Hopefully OOP will be able to compete with the pizza shops on every corner.

2014 Unilocal365CHALLENGE — 273⁄365 Came here for the first time this evening and had a GREAT experience! My boyfriend and I love Pieology and were looking for one in West LA, but apparently none exist. Fortunately, a VERY similar alternative, Open Oven Pizzeria, does! We came here on a Sunday night and the place was empty. Parking is street only, but there is a parking garage on Broxton which is free for the first 2 hours before 6pm, and after 6pm is a flat $ 3 rate. They have several pre-made combinations of their personalized pizzas, but you can also opt to do the build your own pizza for $ 7.95. My boyfriend got the BBQ chicken pizza, and I decided to do my build your own pizza with garlic butter, parmesan, fresh mozzarella, chicken, pesto, corn(NOT found at Pieology!), garlic, and pineapple. If you check in on Unilocal, you can get a free dessert pizza(cinnamon sugar strips w/icing)! Super awesome because it’s definitely almost the same price as a regular pizza! :D We totally took advantage of it :) FOODVERDICT: AMAZING. So good. I’m seriously considering frequenting this place because it was delicious. Pizzas were cooked perfectly, and the pizza tasted great to me because I chose everything on it. I liked that they offered some toppings I haven’t seen at other build your own pizza places. The corn was awesome, and they also had eggs and you can have an egg on top of your pizza! Who knew! My bf did think he couldn’t taste the gorgonzola that well on his BBQ chicken… but oh well. Cinnamon strips were really good, and IMO better than Pieology because I don’t like how theirs are always crispy/overdone! Open Oven’s resembled more of cinnamon bun with a softer crust. Drinks are fountain as usual(Coke products). They also offered a basil lemonade, horchata which was delicious, and a hibiscus tea. There isn’t much seating inside(bar seats along the wall only), but they have a bunch of tables on their patio outside which is where we ended up seating. It was REALLY warm inside the store because of the super hot oven! There were only 3 people working there when we went. Everyone was super friendly and helpful! Absolutely no complaints. I’ve noticed several people mentioning about how this place is a worse version of 800 Degrees right around the corner. Honestly, I like this place better. If you’re looking for something cheap, easy, quick and delicious, I recommend Open Oven. Honestly, it’s practically exactly like Pieology with a few different toppings, but essentially the same thing. The difference between Open Oven and 800 Degrees is that 800 Degrees has more health-conscious options, like«high end» toppings. Their pizzas also cost more… and the line there always sucks. If you’re looking for a more gourmet pizza, go there and pay more. Overall, I highly enjoyed my experience at Open Oven. Definitely will be coming here more in the future! 5 stars.

New pizza place along Westwood! Kinda like blaze but I like it a little better(for now). Open oven pizza is a small pizza place eventually looking to expand depending on the popularity of this location. The servers and manager are super friendly here! They had a free pizza promotion this week and I was fortunate enough to be walking by. The line was pretty long so I waited a bit till it died down. I ordered the bianco pizza which was vegetarian with white sauce, my favorite combo! I really wished they had put more veggies though. Not that much cheese and the crust was nice and thin. Tasted good. Normally the pizzas are $ 8 I believe, including the make your own. Pretty cool place.
