Nothing can’t be cured by French cuisine — excellent restaurant. They provide the best service I never have before.

Went here after opening night of La Boheme with a very special lady. It was our first opera! The experience couldn’t have been better. The food was amazing, the atmosphere(other than an annoying woman next to us) was impeccable, and everything about the place was top notch. Can’t wait to visit Patina’s other locations! The beets were BEYOND amazing!!!

Pros: Great food and the sommelier was an expert. The dessert was excellent. Beautiful dining room. Cons: Our server started by suggesting the only female in our party to order different items than the guys. Not a great start. He did put out the disclaimer«I don’t mean to offend or be sexist» beforehand, and rightfully so we were. This was all after he explicitly told him we’d like him to choose all five courses for everyone. When the bill came we were overcharged incorrectly. Conclusion: Disappointed. I had really high hopes. If you’re searching for something similar and less pretentious, check out Orsa & Winston down the road. Update: Just received a call from the GM sincerely apologizing. Goes far in the restaurant industry, looking forward to giving them a second chance.

Amazing service. No, really. Amazing. We’ve eaten at not so fancy hole-in-the-walls and fancy Michelin places. This was among the top mainly because of the general manager and how welcoming and gregarious he was. Great food(small if you’re not doing a tasting menu), thoughtful service, great discussion of artwork, and tasty amuse bouche. Overall, nuances like those will bring us back.

When you go to a $$$$ restaurant that held Michelin star at a point you go in with certain expectations. Patina was not all that I had hoped for. It’s a beautiful restaurant. I thought the architecture was interesting and the décor was very sophisticated. My first impression was positive. My choices for the three course meal were: 1. LOBSTERCHITARRA — there was no way I could say no to lobster and sea urchin in a same dish. This was a hit. 2. RABBIT — this main dish was delicious. It was my first time trying rabbit so I didn’t know what to expect, but I ended up loving it. The texture of the meat was tender yet there was a bit of chewiness that reminded me of gelatin-rich oxtail. I even enjoyed carrots, which I normally don’t care for. 3. PEAR — this dessert was quite good. Ok, so on to the negatives. Our server was not really someone I would’ve expected to see at such establishment. She was not rude or anything, but there was this tension about her that made the whole dining experience not the best. How can I explain it? It felt like I was dealing with a mom of a unruly 2 year old who was trying to mask her frustration by not having any expression. Even when I made eye contacts, smiled and thanked her for whatever recommendation she made, she barely had any expression on her face. She just didn’t seem like a very happy person, and really, who wants to be served by someone like that? Lucky for her, everyone else was super friendly and attentive. Otherwise she wouldn’t have gotten much tip from me last night. One less star for the dry trout my bf had. Yup, dry fish at a Michelin star worthy restaurant? I’d say this restaurant may not be what it used to be.

Ok, so after the opera at the concert hall across the street, my friends and I decided to come to this French Californian fusion restaurant. We were greeted nicely and even though our reservation somehow didn’t go through, they let us take a table of four in a few min. Service? Spectacular. It’s almost like you forget that you are in LA. I don’t think I had any better service like this in most restaurants in LA… They really match up to the cost of the food. We all ordered 5 course meal for $ 100+ plus ordered drink and cheese sampler. I mean, if you like cheese, they have more than 20 different kinds of cheese out there to choose from. And our server was very knowledgeable about them. He gave us 6 kinds of cheese based on our experiences and preference, and they were on the spot! Wait, I skipped talking about the meal didn’t I? I’ll put my pros and cons later and let me talk about specifics. They brought us a nice appetizer with pea soup, which is French’s almost like staple dish. Very simple yet delicate creamy soup and I can tell they used the good fresh ingredients. I had better one in Guy Savor in Vegas but considering the cost is 1⁄3 of that, this place’s soup was remarkable. Uni tempura was very creamy. They used panko, so it’s no technically tempura but forget about the name. It was good. I should make that for myself! Tai snapper was very good and fresh. I’d like tai to be more fresh with texture(like the sushi restaurants in Japan) but the broth and presentation was very nice. I got an Australian Wagyu(Japanese breed beef). Surprisingly, I had a better Wagyu a week ago at the ANA suite lounge in HND Tokyo airport(yes that Airport lounge served Wagyu!) so I may be very picky or I may not be fair to judge this dish but this whole environment made up for it. My friends ordered different dish so we get to taste all kinds of seafood and meat. I know it’s not a good manner to share in France, but I think it’s more exciting and memorable if we all get to enjoy little bit of everything. If you are a big fan of tea or coffee, they have good choices but especially for tea, they all smelled good so if you are tea drinker, this is a good place to try. There are four different dessert to choose from and we were party of four so we each ordered different thing again and shared it. To my surprise, they brought a specially decorated dessert for my birthday. It was very small but very considerate and the whole dinner lasted almost 3.5 hrs but they made sure it was memorable. The pictures follow but here are the summaries: Pros: convenient location near the Disney Concert Hall. You can walk up there afterwards. Food– needless to say, it’s important that it’s good and they were all perfectly seasoned. I’ll def come back for special occasion. Pea soup and cheese plate! Oh yes, don’t forget to ask for their special cheese. There are some flaws but I’ll mention that in cons section. Atmosphere — because of the location and timing, there are more people dressed up. You don’t want to come here in shorts and sandals even though that’s my kind of clothes. It’s got a nice, luxurious feel. Some places are just very tacky or pretentious… This place felt pretty natural and very cozy. Service — there are many servers. They made sure I have water in the glass, bread if we needed it. And explain each dish and asked us what we liked and more importantly, what we didn’t like. I can tell they are serious about our satisfaction and it’s again, very rare to see this level of service in the US, especially LA. Cons: Well, not sure if this is a con but the price isn’t the cheapest. I think it’s reasonable for what we had, but it’s not something I can come back every weekend. Food — squid ink pasta was over cooked. It was way too soft and broke into small pieces. It was served with lobster and lobster was good but way too small portion for that. Felt like eating a few pieces of prawns. Wagyu could have been more flavorful. I hate to mention too many cons but I do want to mention just in case restaurant staff or chef is reading this, because I DO care about good restaurants like this and I want them to keep what’s good and improve what’s not so good. Note: we parked by Cathedral off Temple near Grand. I didn’t realize that the parking gate close at 8pm and by the time we finished the dinner at 9pm, the gate was down and we had to drive back all the way the first thing in the next morning to get the car. It’s not the restaurants fault but the dinner could take long time– please make sure you come back to the parking curfew wherever you park so this doesn’t happen to you.

I love French & haven’t come across a really good French restaurant until I’ve come here! What a gem! Service was beyond spectacular! It’s a small, hidden restaurant next to the Disney Concert Hall but I would love to come back here again! The house red wine was amazing and matched perfectly with all the food. We ordered the 3 course meal — which was more like a 5 course meal since they gave us tiny appetizers in the beginning. I was full & satisfied at the end. I ordered the 1) foie gras — this melts in your mouth and goes so well with the bread 2) Wagyu beef — I would come back again & again for this & I would die for 3) chocolate mousse — a bit heavy, but still pretty good Throughout the course meal, multiple servers came. Our main server was with a character & so nice! Definitely want to come back here again :)

I do not know why it took me so long to rate my top restaurant in LA. First, I have total admiration for the Maitre D’. I love the super simple décor and the natural materials of each room. The ambience is soft and relaxing. The service is impeccable. Everyone here knows is job very well. The drinks are greatly mixed. The food and the wine selection are top notch. The cheese tray is to die for; I dream for the lights to go off so that I can eat it all by myself! It is the perfect place to dine before the Disney Hall shows, but really, any occasion is good to visit Patina.

Everything about this dining experience was wonderful. From the moment I made my reservation, Patina’s staff made sure that I would have a lovely dining experience. I went with a group of 4. We got there early and we’re still seated right away. Patina is so specialized in every aspect of cuisine that when my grandmother ordered hot tea, they brought over a whole cart of loose leaf tea for her to choose from. We ordered the 3 course option, but were served much more. Complimentary dishes were brought before and after each course, including a caviar topped salmon skin that was to die for. I tried every dish that our group ordered and loved every bite!

WOWWOWWOW. This is everything and more when it comes to service and multi course meals. Yes it’s expensive, yes it takes awhile to eat here, and finally yes, it is expensive. What you’re paying for is the experience. My bf took me here for Valentines day and I was blown away. We had a 4 course meal that included a steak that was cooked medium rare all the way through. How do they manage that?! Seriously the most perfect steak I have ever had. Everything on the plate has a purpose and goes well with whatever is being served. I think the most impressive part is the service. The waiters and wait staff do this perfectly synchronized dance taking away dirty plates/utensils and putting down news ones, while someone else is filling your water and a third person offering you freshly baked bread. I recommend Patina for an intimate special occasion. The food is quite heavy and you’ll definitely be satisfied afterwards(not sick full) but I don’t think it’s something I can eat everyday. Plus, aint nobody got money for dat.

5 stars — outstanding service. French cuisine is never my speciality. The staff made me feel very comfortable the entire night. I booked a long table to have a big party(10 people) to celebrate a few things and host our guests from overseas. We were recommended the 3 course menu, and they did a great job timing everyone’s arrival with their menu delivery, drink service, and detail explanation of each course. It was extremely difficult to accomplish when you have guests in large group arriving in different time and kids. The notable dish of the night is Wagyu short rib. The beef was served in 2 ways, so I did not get bored with just the good quality meat. My favorite desert is lemon curd. I also tried the cheese selection. All the fancy names and grades always confuse me. The staff did a great job translate into something I can understand. After I tasted all the cheese, the manager asked me which one is my favorite, and he typed out the name of cheese with its flavor and origin in a piece of paper, and sealed in the envelope. This defines world class service within the fine dinning industry. Now I will always remember Patina and its staff, and my new favorite cheese«challerhocker!» 5 stars all the way.

Celebrated the New Year at Patina, making dinner reservations. We ordered a la carte & tried some amazing dishes. For appetizers, we shared the scallops & escargot, both of which were delicious. For the main course, we ordered the Beef Tenderloin, which was delightful with the crispy kale. But, we did save the best for last & had this delightful napoleon-like dessert with fruit. There was live music, balloons, and we shared a nice booth. Lovely ambiance. It was wonderful to see our friends here and share a wonderful New Year at Patina. We love coming here… on special occasions! Or just whenever we want to enjoy exceptional food at an elegant understated place.

This is the second time dining at Patina. The first time was for a whiskey pairing held by LA Times and didn’t felt it was fair to base a review on that event(which was awesome btw). This time around, we were hosting an out of town guest who had an interested in French Cuisine. The guest being only 13, we wanted to expand his palate, so dining at Patina it is. As I wanted to try a bit more from their menu, we all opted for the 5 course tasting. Prepare for a leisure dining experience, this is not a meal to be hurried. Just sit back, open up your belly and enjoy. I chose the following: The course came with a complimentary butternut squash soup topped with butter compote and Hamachi — The fried chicken skin was a great bite, adding a bit of texture difference from the gentle bite you get from the hamachi. The avocado/wasabi ice cream was very smooth. More avocado than wasabi Escargot on porridge w/shaved fennels and iberico ham bits — I am happy to see escargot prepared differently. Though yummy, the porridge was a bit heavy for my belly. Barramundi w/royal black trumpet mushroom — Prepared nicely with the skin served crisped. Just the way I like it. The fish itself was flaky and very mild fish flavor. It even passed the inspection from my boyfriend who is not one to order a fish dish. Wagyu short rib prepared two ways(1. sous vide for 3 days and the other slowly braised for a whole day), served with chantrelles(my fav). The short rib was a crowd pleasure. Flavorful and melted like butter in your mouth. Lemon dessert consisting of lemon curd, chamomile sorbet, milk and honey. Great palate cleanser I was literally bursting to the gills before even getting to the barramundi course. The two boys with me didn’t have the same problem though. Overall the flavor wasn’t in your face with certain ingredients overpowering one over the other. It was a gentle dance of many flavors here and there. And was very proud of that 13 year old, he will have one powerful palate in a few years. Reservations is highly recommended here. Service was attentive and exquisite Parking: Street if you’re lucky Valet parking

Aaaaaaaat Laaaaaaaaaaast! I dined at Patina! With some pleading, prodding and not so slick marketing techniques, I convinced my other half into agreeing to this restaurant for my birthday dinner. The whole experience was wonderful, and the service was out of this world! From the maitre d’(or manager) who enthusiastically greeted us and introduced us to the water menu, to our dining room server, to the guy who kept opening the large door that led to the restrooms for me, top notch. Unless you are accustomed to this type of service on a daily basis, it is a genuine treat! Feeling a little European(and curious), we did order French and German mineral waters from the water menu. Then we opted for the 3 course menu. 5 and 8 courses are also available, but I did not want to bite off more than I could chew(you see what I did there?) As an appetizer, I selected the lobster, and Mister selected escargot, ew! The lobster was lovely, and I enjoyed the combination of flavors and textures from the fennel, grapefruit, avocado, and dashi. Mister also enjoyed the escargot. It was in a porridge that contained, potatoes, fennel, and parsley, and I will admit that I was surprised that it looked and smelled appetizing. However, images of snails in my backyard are permanently seared in my brain, and I just can’t do it. Before our entrees, we also indulged in fresh country bread, olive bread, and sunflower seed bread. And the chef sent over some complimentary starters – a shot of carrot soup and a tray of bite sized delights made with salmon, caviar, and mushrooms. Perfect size to show off the chef’s skills and keep you wanting more. My entrée was the John Dory and Mister’s was the Blackened Trout. Both were delicious and a healthy serving size, almost too much. The John Dory had carrots and some type of beans. The trout had scallions and some type of grain. Food intoxication has apparently impaired my memory with respect to all the components of the entrees! Then the part of the meal I was so looking forward to, dessert! I selected the chocolate and Mister had the huckleberry. Beautiful presentation for each dessert, and I loved the chocolate. Extremely decadent with a hint of chili flavor that slightly zapped my tastebuds. I did not taste the huckleberry dessert, but Mister said it too was delicious. For my birthday, the chef also sent over a plate of petite cookies, 3 different kinds. It was tough to eat any more, but we did it! As if that wasn’t enough, on the way out, the maitre d’(or manager) gave me a little box of birthday chocolates and lots of well wishes. My oh my! They really know how to make a girl swoon! Ambiance and acoustics also score high points here. Lighting is flattering and romantic. Seating is comfortable. And it is so peaceful in the dining room. You can have a nice dinner conversation without shouting to be heard. Or if it suits the occasion, you can make googly eyes at each other and whisper sweet nothings 8-) It was truly a pleasure and privilege to celebrate at Patina. Hope we are fortunate enough to return in the future.

Came here for DineLA last night and I was super impressed with their service! Located next to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the building is truly a great place for pre-dinner photos and some minor«sightseeing». We were seated immediately upon entering and right away noticed that each employee greeted us along our walk and made us feel very welcome. Throughout dinner I noticed that they are meticulous when it comes to details. The lap napkins were color coordinated to the type of color we wore. Hubs got black for a dark outfit while I got white for wearing a cream dress. Utensils very carefully placed right before the next dish. They actually measure the space between the table and the flower vase to ensure a perfect space…(yes, I was spying while they cleaned up after customers left…). WATERMENU. What in the world?! I’ve never given water so much though in my life, but apparently Patina has. They have an entire menu dedicated to different types of water. still or sparkling from different parts of the world with a breakdown of their mineral content, price per liter, a mini intro, as well as the sweetness and complex factors. We chose the Iskilde water from Denmark with tons of O2. ;) pretty cool huh? Now onto the food: it was technically a three course meal but we ordered one of each selection to try out their menu. Amuse: dashi infused tomato gelatin with parmesan foam paired with a miso bread? It was delicious with a sour zing from the tomato. LOVEDIT!!! Compressed melon mosiac with cured duck, frozen buttermilk and argula: so good & colorful! The different types of melons were chilled and sweet giving a salty slicesof cured duck a kick when eaten with the buttermilk. I could eat this all day… 63 degrees farmed egg: an egg poached at 63 degrees for 45 mins = the perfect poached egg. Paired with some smoked thib slices of tender duck, this dish was pretty good. A large spoon was provided for the runny yolk. Porkbelly with charred octopus, romaine, black pudding, and black garlic: a okay? Pork was soft and tender with an oh-so-crispy layer of skin. Romaine tasted like typical chinese style stir fried lettuce. Octupus was very chewy. Crispy scaled tile fish with summer squash, shimeji yuzu sabayon: fish was tender. I liked it much more than the porkbelly dish but wasn’t as flavorful as I would have hoped. It came with a sour sauce that was very tasty. Like! Now onto the desserts… Chocolate cremeux with brown butter foam and buttermilk sorbet: the chocolate was rich and smooth but can get sweet very fast. That foam though… it was delicious! I kept sneaking bites of it along with that sorbet. Yum~~~ Summer pudding berry compote, anise brioche, and something parfait: a white round creamy dessert which resembles the texture of whipped cream cheese. Paired with strawberry purée and a mixture of fresh berries, it is light and refreshing after a heavy meal. There were two sponge looking cakes on the side which were adorable. I used them to soak up my berry sauce. Lastly, we got some petits fours which consisted of a sour mango passionfruit«gummy», a supercute baby madeleine, and an almond pastry similar to the miso one for our amuse. Delightful and a wonderful ending to our meal I must say! Now here comes the most important part of my review. THE service. I cannot emphasize how great it was. Each individual including the GM Kevin himself were super pleasant with genuine smiles the entire time. There was a miscommunication as our server thought we wanted two of the pork belly entrees instead of one of each. When we mentioned this, instead of making me feel bad, arguing, or taking the dish right back inside, they told me to enjoy it as my tile fish was being cooked asap. Finished dishes were cleared immediately, and any needs were met promptly. There were so many tidbits of good service during the night that would me a while to write… but I don’t want to bore my fellow Unilocalers. We had a mini exchange with the GM as we were leaving and we could tell he truly cares about this establishment. Other restaurants should learn from this place… There is valet parking literally right outside the door for $ 8 or concert hall parking at who knows where for $ 9. You can add the valet to your bill and they will call up your car for you.

Patina = PAIN-tina. Patina is a upscale French restaurant located right next to the Walt Disney Concert Hall and it received an one-Michelin star in 2008&2009. Out of 15+ DineLA restaurants I’ve tried so far, this was probably the my 2nd worst DineLA experience(as of July 2015). Service was Michelin-worthy good(in fact there was a army of servers standing on the side of the wall), but I just did not like what I had at all … at least not for $ 50(plus tax and tip). Parking: $ 8 valet parking for unlimited hours. You can try to find metered parking spaces, but I had to pay $ 6 for 2 hours near the intersection of S Grand Ave & W 3rd St. Just a warning, the dinner lasted about 1.75 hours because each dish took approximately 20 – 30 minutes to prepare. *** DineLA $ 50 Dinner *** Amuse bouche: Just not a fan of dashi — a bit too salty for me. *Appetizer* Compressed Melon Mozaic(compressed melon, cured duck, arugula, frozen buttermilk): This appetizer sounded and looked better than it tasted. Compressed melon were basically a combination of watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc. The sweetness from fruits didn’t go well with buttermilk. Ultimately I finished this appetizer with a bitter note … the bitterness from basil(no pun intended). *Entrée* Pork Belly(charred octopus, black pudding, romaine, black garlic): A bit disappointed with its dry pork belly. Charred octopus & black pudding were the most interesting part of this entrée … but everything else tasted pretty bland. *Dessert* Summer pudding(berry compote, anise brioche, fromage blanc parfait): I thought blackberries were the best part of this meal(pretty sad huh) … I need to know where they got these blackberries. The berry syrup(berry compote) was too sour for my taste. *** How would you feel if you spend $ 50 DineLA for a fruit platter, one piece of dry pork belly, and a pudding that tasted like a cheesecake? If you like food presentation, then sure give this fancy restaurant a try. Otherwise, I wasn’t too impressed with their DineLA menu.

Came for the Dine LA menu and can’t say I’m super impressed. The place was pretty empty when we got there which may have been an indication that this might not been the most popular place. Although we were there quite early for dinner so that was probably the reason. We were greeted with an amuse bouche(can’t really remember some cream/custard dish) to start off our 3-course dinner. I made the mistake of ordering the smoked salmon terrine as my appetizer, everyone else at the table got the duck confit tortellini which was so much better! My gf took pity on me and my poor choices and let me eat some of her dish, definitely the best of the night! Everyone at our table ordered the beef cheeks for their entrée. The beef cheeks were cooked perfectly tender. But sadly, even though the texture was on point, the whole thing ate quite bland. The sauce lacked flavor and didn’t permeate into the meat at all. Perhaps the cod might’ve been a better choice? I ordered the coconut custard and it was decent but not memorable. I will say I did enjoy my glass of wine which was a Gewürztraminer. Overall, it was an okay dining experience, the service was excellent and very attentive. Granted, we were one of the few diners in the room at that time. I did expect a bit more from the food for $ 50/person though. Perhaps, their regular menu offers some better selections.

The wife may be crazy(explanation below)… all the more reason she deserves to come to Patina to celebrate a decade of wedded bliss. AMUSEBOUCHE Gazpacho shooter… cold tomato soup has never tasted so good… nor should it. BASS Black sea bass, cranberry beans, almond pistou, english celery. Perfectly cooked bass, warm, buttery, flaky and moist with a great mix of flavors. CALAMARI Unique calamari farci, roma tomatoes, wild foraged greens, salsa verde. One of the most interesting versions of calamari I’ve ever had. PRAWNS Caladonian blue prawns, taro leaves, serrano chile, coconut milk. Just one problem… we wanted more prawns… excellent. AGNOLOTTI white corn agnolotti, nueske bacon, arugula, parmesan. Dude, this had agnolotti, parmesan and BACON… what’s not to love? I’lll tell ya what… Nuthin’ CHIPS N DIP Avocado mousse, salmon chicharrones, edible flowers. This was almost too pretty to eat… but I ate it anyways. It all just worked somehow. CHICKEN Roasted jidori chicken, potato and truffle mousseline, roasted asparagus. Probably the most«traditional» dish of the night but everything tasted great, cooked perfectly. PORKBELLY Braised pork belly, polenta cake, zucchini tagliatelle, five spice jus. The pork was seasoned just right, polenta was good, the«tagliatelle» was«cute» you know what would have been awesom(er)? «real» «tagliatelle» I will now apologize for«unnecessary» quotes. MIGNARDISE Petit threes? Cute and they reminded my wife that I’m not always a jackass and I wanted to bring her somewhere nice for our TEN year wedding anniversary. I still can’t believe she has suffered through my nonsense for that long… that girl deserves a fu*king medal. STRAWBERRYSHORTCAKE Strawberries and cream, shortcake crumble, strawberry sorbet, Tahitian vanilla. Apart from being my favorite little girls doll from the 80’s, this dessert was also awesome. What? I liked rainbow brite too, shutup. CHOCOLATE Devils food tart, valrhona dark chocolate, condensed milk ice cream. Kinda bitter but balanced out nicely by the ice cream. SINK Fancy. I decided to keep it classy since this was an anniversary dinner so I didn’t take a picture of the toilet for this review. Ah, who am I kidding the toilet pic just came out too blurry so I deleted it. Happy Anniversary to my beautiful wife, the only reason she’s crazy is for still being with me. Here’s to hoping she can put up with me for at least another 10 years.

Located right next to the beautiful Walt Disney Concert Hall, I was ready to be equally amazed by the food! Unfortunately, compared to similar restaurants, I would have to say that my experience was underwhelming. My friends and I came here for dineLA for dinner. If you are lucky, you can find street parking. Otherwise you can valet for $ 8 right in front of the restaurant. Another option is to park at one of the nearby lots which ranges from $ 7 – 10. **COCKTAILS** Concerto XO — The gold sprinkles on top only disguises the fact that this is a strong cocktail with a heavy hand of bourbon! My friends and I agreed that although this was the prettiest cocktail we had ordered, it was also our least favorite. Unless you really enjoy bourbon, I would recommend staying away. **AMUSE-BOUCHE(coplimentary)** Yuzu panna cotta — One of the highlights of the night! The refreshing citrus flavor of the yuzu was complemented well with the slightly salty foam on top. Only downside was how little we were given! **APPETIZER** Duck tortellini — I love duck but I would say that meat was not particularly flavorful. Enveloped in the pasta and covered in sauce, I would say that the creaminess was the overwhelming flavor. Although solid, it was not incredibly special. **ENTREE** Atlantic Cod — Although there was some interesting flavors with the atlantic cod and lemongrass emulsion all over a bed of potatoes, the fish was a little overcooked. If it was a little more melt in your mouth and not so tough, this would have been a stellar dish. **DESSERT** Coconut custard — I liked this dessert a lot! Deceptively simple. Even plated with the contrast of the white and black. However, the coconut custard paired with the passion fruit sorbet reminded me of just lounging on a tropical paradise. The sweetness was cut by the nutty black sesame nougatine which was just the right twist to enhance the flavors in this dessert. Complimentary dessert trio — My favorite of the trio was a chocolatey coconut concotion that could be characterized as an elevated Samoa(recently changed to caramel deLite). I was so glad it was small. The madeline was light and good. I did not care for the fruit gelee. The service was overall pretty good. They were very attentive and accommodating to our needs although at times it may have felt a little too much. Granted my impression is only based off their dineLA menu, after my dineLA experience, I did not feel particularly compelled to come again unless I were to watch a show at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

And another one in my books!!! I had asked my friend what he would like to try during dineLA and he mentioned Patina and being neurotic, I made the reservation asap! I did some research and the place looked very classy and elegant. Perfect time to get dressed up! Leaving from the SG area, it took roughly around 20 to 25 minutes to arrive with no traffic. Once there, I proceeded to have my car valet and I headed inside. My friends arrived a few minutes after. The hostess was very nice and checked me in immediately. Our waitress proceeded to hand us all the menus of the evening and we all opted for the DINELA one. Since it was a party of 3, we all decided to order each of the items so we could all try. I ordered the duck confit tortellini with additional black truffle(hey you only live once) Atlantic cod as my main course and the popcorn sorbet as the finale. My friends ordered the foie gras and the smoked salmon terrine as starters and the braised beef cheeks and waygu as the main. Food arrived in a timely fashion and I really enjoyed every bite! It was a lovely evening with some lovely people and its definitely worth a try! Service was outstanding and the staff was attentive and there when you were done with each dish. I would recommend this place in a heart beat! Tips– I believe you can park in the nearby garages but when it comes to fancy places, I like to valet. The cost is $ 8 with validation from the restaurant. On a side note– the DINELA menu is $ 50, however, there are additional add ons that bumps up the price. For instance the duck confit with black truffle is an additional $ 12 if you want it. And finally, the only reason I didn’t give this place a 5 star review is the fact that my waitress charged my card the wrong amount and even though she did fix it, I didn’t like that she swiped anyways and said there was an issue with my magnetic strip. Well… come back to me and let me know. I have other cards with me. UPDATE-the GM from Patina just contacted me today and I’m very happy with how he and the restaurant are handling my extra charge. He was very understanding and made sure to check with the IT department to make sure that the wrong amount had not posted and that I would be charged the correct amount.
